Newcastle have released pictures of the squad from Monday’s training session at the club’s Benton base, and it’s given a good indication as to who’ll be fit to face Rochdale today.
After several months out, Jamaal Lascelles is back training with the first-team, while DeAndre Yedlin and Emil Krafth are spotted taking part – so it seems all three are in contention for tomorrow.
Matt Ritchie is also out there once again and looks set to start and it’s also positive to see Jonjo Shelvey and Allan Saint-Maximin involved, however Steve Bruce did suggest yesterday that neither would be risked against Rochdale.
Elsewhere, Joelinton’s presence in the session suggests his groin is fine, so he could start in search of a confidence boosting goal or two, however there’s no sign of Dummett, Gayle, Manquillo, Schar, Ki or Muto.
Carroll seems fine, despite being limited to a bench role on Saturday, but he seems unlikely to play twice in a week – meaning he could be saved for Chelsea on Saturday?
Youngsters Thomas Allan, Ludwig Francillette, Lewis Cass and Elias Sorensen are also pictured training with the senior side, as is recently recalled Kelland Watts, however the latter is cup tied so can’t feature.
With all the above in mind, the following line-up looks very possible:
(3-4-3): Dubravka – Krafth, Lascelles, Lejeune – Yedlin, Hayden, M Longstaff, Ritchie – Atsu, Joelinton, Almiron.
