NUFC set to sell £12m Rafa Benitez signing as 7 prepare to leave in summer clear out – Report

According to the Chronicle, Newcastle could be ready to cut their losses on Jacob Murphy.

The winger – who Rafa Benitez signed from Norwich for £12m in 2017 – is currently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, but is failing to impress.

He did score in their shock win over Leeds on Saturday, however Lee Ryder reports that the Owls are unlikely to pursue a permanent deal at the end of his loan.

Elsewhere, the Chronicle also report that Rolando Aarons, Achraf Lazaar and Henri Saivet will be moved on at the end of the season (if not this month) as part of a summer clear out.

Ki and Colback will also be released this summer when their contracts expire – although the former could yet be sold this month – and Yoshinori Muto may also be moved on, with him failing to make an impact under Benitez or Bruce.

Back to Murphy, it really feels like he just isn’t up to it and should be moved on. After all, he’s no longer a youngster (he turns 25 next month) and looks no closer to breaking through after another underwhelming loan spell.

He’s looked like a rabbit in the headlights whenever we’ve seen him in a black and white shirt, and he’s done little to impress West Brom of Sheffield Wednesday fans in the Championship – and that probably says it all.

  1. Have to find buyers first who are willing to..
    1. Pay a transfer fee.
    2. Match their salary so they will agree to move.
I always smile when I read sell this one, and that one, like a used car on ebay… 🙂
