Lee Ryder has confirmed Newcastle United’s interest in Nice midfielder Wylan Cyprien, revealing that we’ve been watching the midfielder for two years.
The 24-year-old midfielder – who’s said to be valued at £20m – was linked with a move to St James’ Park yesterday, and Ryder’s latest comments suggest the Frenchman is very much on the club’s radar this month.
Responding to the Daily Mail’s report claiming we’ve ‘enquired’ about the Nice midfielder, Lee Ryder had this to say during his latest transfer piece for The Chronicle:
“A player that United have been watching for the last two years.
“He would be a great signing.”
It’s been well documented that Steve Bruce is looking to sign an athletic and energetic midfielder – and Cyprien could be exactly that.
He wouldn’t come cheap, and I have my doubts about us paying big money for anyone this month, but his age and potential suggest he’d fit perfectly into Ashley’s buying policy.
The former teammate of Allan Saint-Maximin has bagged 7 goals and 5 assists in France this season and has also been linked with Tottenham.
