Sky Sports’ Keith Downie believes Steve Bruce is still trying to sign Jarrod Bowen – as well as Inter Milan’s Valentino Lazaro.
Our interest in a Lazaro appears to be genuine, with Sky Sports and the Chronicle both backing up last night’s claims from Italy, but it seems Bruce has not given up on a January deal for Hull City star Jarrod Bowen.
Here’s what North-East reporter Keith Downie has had to say on the transfer front today, insisting Bowen is a link that ‘just doesn’t seem to go away’:
So, it seems Inter Milan are willing to let the Austrian international leave on loan this month following the arrival of Ashley Young – but reports in Italy suggest we’ll face competition for his signature, with another Premier League club and sides in Germany and Italy also interested.
That said, both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport say we are the only club who have made a “serious enquiry” so far.
As for Bowen, it seems quite clear he is one of Bruce’s top targets and has been for some time.
With Hull City said to be demanding £20m – a fee we’ve been reluctant to pay so far – perhaps Bruce attempted to persuade Ashley to make a move during their ‘meeting’ this week?
