Lee Ryder responds to Valentino Lazaro ‘Breaking News’ – Deal not quite done yet?

Lee Ryder has confirmed that Valentino Lazaro is on his way to Tyneside for ‘face to face talks’ – but claims ‘a deal isn’t agreed yet’ for the Inter Milan wing-back.

This comes after Sky Sports’ ‘breaking news’ said the Austrian was set for a medical after we reached an agreement to sign him on loan with an option to buy for £20m.

Keith Downie – Sky Sports’ north-east reporter – suggested a deal was imminent, but Ryder claims another round of talks will take place before any medical.

Here’s what Ryder’s had to say in his latest piece for the Chronicle on the 23-year-old, claiming the deal is progressing but not done yet:

Newcastle United have resumed talks with the agent of Valentino Lazaro – and the club hope to hold face to face talks with the player himself in due course.

The player is said to be on his way to Tyneside to continue discussions but club sources say a deal isn’t agreed yet.

A loan deal with an obligation to buy at the end of the season has now been discussed after options with RB Leipzig and Bologna were put to the Austrian international.

Lee Ryder has since responded to fans on Twitter following his cautious update:

Either way, it seems we’ve taken a GIANT step forward to getting this deal ‘over the line’ – which is a pleasant surprise given he looked likely to join RB Leipzig just yesterday.
