According to the Athletic, Elias Sorensen has been told to work on his ‘physicality’ following two nightmare loan spells away from Newcastle United.
The 20-year-old striker had his loan stint with Carlisle cut short by the club in December and is now back with our U-23’s – but this isn’t the first time he’s failed to impress in the Football League.
Sorensen made just ONE league start for Carlisle last year, however he didn’t fare much better at Blackpool last season, playing just 30-minutes of football over a three-month stint with the League One club.
Now he’s back on Tyneside, The Athletic‘s Chris Waugh now claim that Newcastle are deciding whether to loan him out again (for the rest of the season) or let him ‘regain some confidence’ with in our U-23’s.
Waugh also reveals that questions were raised about his physicality (or lack of it) during his spells in senior football. He’s 6ft 2′, but it seems he may need to bulk up or put himself about more to make it in the EFL.
Shola Ameobi needs to get his next loan move right this time, although it seems Sorensen needs to up his game if he wants to play regularly in any first-team across the Football League.
