Sky Sports’ Pete Graves has provided an ‘update’ on the transfer front with NUFC having little over 48 hours left until the January window slams shut.
On a positive note, the Sky presenter claims to have been told that the club are ‘confident’ of signing a ‘top left-back’ before 11pm on Friday.
Danny Rose is mentioned as a player on Bruce’s radar in that area, while Italian press have linked Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam with a potential move to Tyneside today.
That said, Sky Sports have just revealed in their ‘live transfer centre‘ that we are now ‘front runners’ to sign Rose – suggesting he is the “top left-back” we’re “confident” of signing by Friday:

As you can see by his final line, our search for another striker is proving much more difficult, however.
Like Graves states, so many clubs are on the look out for goal scorers at this time of year – yet there’s so few ‘decent options’ available.
Bruce has regularly said he won’t sign for the sake of it – which appears to be the reason he ‘turned down’ Everton’s Cenk Tosum earlier this month – however our need for extra options up top is pretty great.
