Jamaal Lascelles has been speaking out about NUFC new boys Nabil Bentaleb and Valentino Lazaro, revealing what both have to offer after watching them train over the past week.
Bentaleb has started our last two games and Lazaro featured for the first time on Saturday, replacing Yedlin early in the second half and looking assured throughout during his 40-minute cameo.
Here’s what the skipper’s had to say about both, suggesting both will be quality additions:
‘Everyone knows Nabil has quality..even the other day (against Oxford), it was his first game for a while but you could still see the quality he has.
He’s tidy on the ball. I know he’s going to offer us a lot. You can tell he’s got quality.
“Hopefully, it’ll be the same with Valentino.”
“He’s looked bright and energetic in training and he’s good on the ball.’
It’s a real shame Lazaro isn’t eligible to feature tomorrow night – with him and Rose signing AFTER our last meeting with Oxford – but positive to hear the club captain singing his praises already.
Loan deals are frustrating, but in Lazaro and Bentaleb we have two players who cost their parent clubs a combined £39m, so you’d expect them both to give us a real injection of quality.
With Yedlin struggling badly on Saturday, Shelvey out for a few weeks and Ritchie struggling to get forward, we could see all three January signings start at Arsenal next weekend.
