NUFC official spotted watching attacking trio with 41 goals between them this season – Report

According to the Northern Echo, a representative from Newcastle United was at Griffin Park on Saturday to watch Brentford trio Ollie Watkins, Said Benrahma and Bryan Mbuemo.

Paul Fraser – the Northern Echo’s Chief Football Writer – says Benrahma was the key focus for NUFC scouts, but claims we were also watching their star striker Watkins and in-form Frenchman Mbuemo – two players who both got on the scoresheet in their 3-2 win over Middlesbrough.

The trio have bagged an impressive 41 goals between them this season, helping Brentford become the Championship’s second top scorers (behind West Brom) and taking them up into the play off spots as a result.

Benrahma – a 23-year-old Algerian winger who was linked with a £15 summer move to St James’ Park last week – has 8 goals and 6 assists this season, while fellow wide man Mbuemo has bagged 13 goals from their right-hand side so far.

Then to Ollie Watkins, 24, who’s the club’s top scorer after weighing in with an impressive 20 goals in 31 games – a tally only ex-Mag Aleksandar Mitrovic has matched in the second tier this season.

With all three aged between 20-24 and showing superb form in the Championship, they could be a few ones to watch this summer should Brentford fail to earn promotion.
