Journalist reveals the Liverpool player Steve Bruce is hoping to sign this summer

According to the Chronicle’s Mark Douglas, Steve Bruce would “love” to sign Liverpool’s Adam Lallana this summer.

The playmaker is set to be available on a free this summer if he fails to sign a new deal at Anfield in the next 4 months.

This isn’t the first time we’ve been linked with him since Bruce’s arrival either, with the Telegraph’s Luke Edwards claiming at the start of the January window that he was one of the players on his radar.

A month and a half on, Mark Douglas has said the following during a Q&A session when asked if the club have any summer deals lined up:

Steve Bruce says Newcastle have “two or three things in place” for the summer already and it’s understood they’ve been looking at the Bosman market for months now.

Interestingly, one of the players Bruce would love to bring to United is Adam Lallana, whose contract’s up in the summer.

Whether Liverpool persuade him to sign a year extension or not is not clear, but he’s one of those that Bruce would like to provide experience and creativity at Newcastle. Whether that’ll ever get past the conversation stage or not I’m not sure.

Lallana is now 31 and likely to be on big wages at Liverpool, so this seems like the sort of deal that would test Mike Ashley’s tedious transfer policy.

That said, he’s a quality player when fit, has bags of Premier League experience and will be available on a free this summer if nothing changes.

Another ‘one to watch’ this summer if he fails to sign a new deal with the soon-to-be Premier League champions?
