Jetro WIllems has posted a bittersweet video on social media in the last few moments – showing he’s back on Tyneside but still on the treatment table.
He returned to parent club Frankfurt last month and confirmed he’d undergone successful surgery on January 31st, however his latest post shows him watching on from inside the club’s Benton base as his Newcastle United teammates train.
The 25-year-old has also sent a messages to fans via the club’s official account, saying he’s ‘doing well’ and ‘hopes’ last month’s game against Chelsea wasn’t his last in black and white – with him planning to see fans again ‘soon’.
Here’s what he’s shared on Twitter this lunch time:
It’s nice to see the Dutchman back at Benton and stepping up his recovery from what will be a long-term injury, but his latest video has naturally got fans talking – with many hoping it’s a sign of things to come.
Hopefully his return to Tyneside to undergo his rehabilitation programme suggests we’ll do anything but wash our hands with the wing-back following his season-ending injury, with many still hoping to see us sign the former PSV star on a permanent deal this summer.
No matter what happens over the coming months, we’d like to wish him a speedy recovery from his latest ACL injury and sincerely hope this isn’t the last time we see him in Newcastle!
