Andy Carroll is going nowhere!

Carroll will not be going anywhere.
Andy Carroll has been the most talked about transfer target during this January transfer window, with Tottenham being the club that has been most linked with the striker.

But Alan Pardew has give the most categoric statement yet about the future of the Gateshead lad and has insisted that Carroll is not for sale.

This comes amidst yet more tiresome rumours suggeting that Tottenham are preparing a £30 million bid for the England international, although quite where the press pluck these figures from is a it of a mystery given that yesterday Redknapp dismissed a move Carroll saying that a bid for Carroll would involve silly money that Tottenham wouldn’t be prepared to pay.

Hopefully this will end all the speculation, but I doubt it. Carroll is, and has always said, that he is happy and is living his dream at Newcastle, so why would he want to move right now? He is only 22 and there is plenty of time for him to move on in the future of he really wants to, although I have a feeling that Carroll will be around for a long time. It’s just a feeling though as I’m not ‘in the know’ or anything.

Still, it shouldn’t even be a thought now, not for the moment anyway, as Alan Pardew has come out and said that Carroll is not for sale. I found it in The Telegraph, but it’s in loads of other papers today.

Responding to the gossip about Tottenham preapring a mega money bid, Pardew said this:

“They can put together whatever they like. He is not for sale. I am going to say it for one last time, he is not for sale.”

Sounds pretty definitive to me. How about you?

Still, I guess the rumours will persist anyway, but that was always going to happen. A young, English centre-forward who can score goals, boss a defence, is good in the air and with the ball at his feet was always going to attract attention.

It’s still early days in the career of Carroll though. Just 12 months ago he was a gangly striker that looked like he would struggle to score regularly having only scored four times in the league. The transformation in that 12 months has been staggering and Carroll has scored 26 times in 41 appearances since then.

It’s not just about his goalscoring though. Carroll brings more to the team than that. His workrate is exceptional and he tracks back and defends aswell. He plays with pride in the shirt.

Like a lot of the players we have nowadays!

I think it’s about time to put this to bed now like, if Pardew or Arry are asked about Carroll in an interview they should just say ‘i’ve said what our possition is before, and nothing’s changed, next question’

    getting really boring now

  2. I love how we are playing at the minute, i mean to play that well with one of the best strikers in the in the country, one of the signings of the season and our most creative player (Carroll, Tiote & Ben Arfa) all out, it bodes well for the future imo. 🙂

  3. agreed i am bored of it all now.

time to move on, the lad doesnt want to go and the club doesnt want to sell.

the journos need to get this into their heads!!

  4. harping back, bruce saying barton was to blame for 5min exra time and should have been 10min for his time taken on free kicks ect the mans a ****,i dont like j.b.but must admit that they kicked lumps out of the guy he held back well imo, webb failed badly (again)

      (Quote)

  5. You’re right Ice. Webb failed to protect the players, particularly Barton. His booking for what was an accidental handball showed the Sunderland players that it was open day and they could have a go.

Incidentally, no news of Phil Bardsley stamping on Smith being invetsigated I see? 🙄

  6. Could be casue im in work but i cant read any of the articles just the comments. Is there a problem or just stuipd work clamping down?

  7. TOONSY this world class ref also missed that hand ball for the goal it went in off his fist, which the player has admitted, lineman also missed it,didnt miss j.b.hand ball though 😈

  9. Must confess I’m really not bothered about signings right now; I think we’ve got enough with Benny and Gosling coming in. Best save the dosh for the summer once we know what next season’s target is. As always, though – if there’s some diamond in the rough to be had, have ‘im.

Happy to continue with a target of 17th, with a realistic prospect of going waaayyyyy beyond it like last season.

(Oh, and Barton was pretty annoying with his setup routine – especially having to be told TWICE about placing the ball inside the quadrant for corners.)

    Played a blinder, mind. 😈

  10. I must be the only one that thinks Barton had an off day yesterday. His long passing and crossing were a bit off imo.

  11. Would still take 17th right now but we should certainly try and finish as high as we can, we’re actually not too far from being a regular top team, provided we can get some consistency. We undoubtedly have the team, if not quite the squad, to challenge for Europe consistently soon imo-its just a matter of motivation and a few more good additions.

  12. I want 6th spot. With HBA and Gosling coming back it could give us a lift. Carroll needs to be back sharpish though and stay fit.

  13. Doesn’t seem like Bothroyd is coming now. Pardew sounds as though he has changed his mind on recruiting a striker now. Apparently we are looking to do a cash+trade for Adel Taarabt, with Routledge going the other way.

      (Quote)

  14. can’t see Routledge wanting to go back to QPR after only being with us about a season… where’d you hear that one mate? I’m undecided on Taarabt, poor attitude is not what’s required for our squad. Did you know that Warnock’s got a rule that noone in the team are allowed to pass to Taarabt if they’re in their own half? I thought that was class! 😆

Would prefer Lallana but apparently he may have knee ligament damage…

      (Quote)

  15. El Toro
That would be brilliant news if true to be honest, we really don’t need Bothroyd, we still seem unsure on what are starting strikers will be-obviously Carroll will always be starting but the debate on partnership will go on forever. I thought Ameobi was quality yesterday apart from the first miss, generally dominated aerially but obviously hes got his well known injury and consistency problems..getting shot of routledge and getting taarabt through the door would be brilliant.

      (Quote)

  16. It would be f*ckin hilarious if that was true El Toro! I have my doubts though, but here’s hoping…

      (Quote)

  17. Lacedaemonian

81 Premier League goals…Only Drogba and Rooney have more. He is a good player, but has been mediocre this season. We now know why, he clearly is unsettled in the NE. Wants to be with his London mates, Reo Coker and Ashley Young. 🙄

      (Quote)

  18. Just checked on twitter and George Caulkin is reporting it. If George Caulkin says it, it’s true. HA!

All the SMBs were banging on about ‘loyalty’ and how they’re players all play for the shirt unlike ours and that they’d always stick around. This is a very, very tidy little bit of news 😆

      (Quote)

  19. It’s all over Twitter!

The only worry for me is that Bruce wouldn’t let him go if he didn’t have someone decent to replace him. Bruce ain’t stupid. But good god, £18m. If that’s true they have done the deal of the century!

Also where the fck have Villa got that money from? O’neill will be gutted.

Also didn’t Bent turn down Villa to join Sunderland? Villa must be offering more money now…

      (Quote)

  20. I still think he is a poorer player than his goal tallies suggest. How many of those goals were penalties? Thats all he seems to score. Well that and miss hit close range efforts.

      (Quote)

  21. If this is true, it’s hilarious. TBH, I thought Bent got into some good positions yesterday but seemed devoid of confidence in his finishing.

I wouldn’t be as happy as most to see Routledge go; I just get the feeling that he’s almost the finished article. Happy to see another option for RW come in, though.

And if we’re not getting Bothroyd, great – waste of money. Scoring goals isn’t our problem; losing players and still not losing – that’s where we need to strengthen if anywhere. Happy to see no new signings, though.

      (Quote)

  22. If Sunderland actually decide to reinvest in some quality midfielders I may start to worry. I can see them going for Adam, Parker or even better now. Let’s hope their sights remain firmly on Muntari 😆

      (Quote)

  23. I wish he’d learn to finish like that in the first team. It’ll come.

Quite a line-up for the reserves – should be able to take Wigan apart with that lot! I’m particularly interested in Ferguson’s progress; he’s looked excellent recently.
No Airey on there, I notice. ❓

      (Quote)

  24. Shame it’s a closed doors job. I think they’d get good support if they opened it up. Can’t hurt the coffers, and it’ll be a more realistic environment for the players.

      (Quote)

  25. I think a carroll bent partnership would be pretty sweet…… It would be a good combination pity hes been an unwashed for a couple of years

      (Quote)

  26. Bent isn’t worth 18mil, sunderland would be making some decent money-but then again I think they’re quite toothless without him really, he hasn’t been amazing this season but I really don’t rate Gyan, gets some good goals but most of them are sh1te or he just does nothing. Bent did some decent runs yesterday with poor finishing, Gyan just did nothing. Think they’d really miss him..so lets hope he goes and they don’t re invest 😆

      (Quote)

  27. What happened to Randys cost cutting, He must be reet worried about relegation to splash £24m on Bent.

    Funny as **** like… 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  28. Poor Bent. 180 minutes of football against us and he’s realised he’s on the wrong side of the Tyne. It just gets worse for the lad when he’s told it’s only Villa who want him 😀

      (Quote)

  29. How about going in for agbonlahor if villa gets bent? he and carroll would be a decent strikeforce off pace and power

      (Quote)

  30. How about going in for Suarez ? 🙂

Ajax boss Frank de Boer has confirmed Suarez, 23, has indicated that he wants to move on if an offer comes in and said that plans for his replacement are already in place.

“I’ve had a showdown with Luis,” De Boer said. “I wanted to know what his plans are and what the future will bring. Luis is training hard. He told me that if a big club comes in for him now he is ready to talk to them.

    “I’ve a back-up scenario ready.”

Hopefully he does makes a good decision and don’t choose liverpool. 😎

  31. if bents worth 18mil,arrry wil have to stump 40mil for andy imo,at least twice the player, lot younger ect, ect, and whos going to pay that only a couple of clubs spuds anit one of them

      (Quote)

  32. If you think about it though:
    – Bent is a proven EPL striker, he has scored goals at every club he has been at and his record speaks for itself.
    – He won’t need ‘bedding in time’,
    – He is at his prime age for a striker
    – Spurs, Charlton, maybe even Ipswich will be wanting money as part of the deal.

I don’t know, if we’re talking around £30 mill for Carroll, and Bent has proven his worth for years and is only what, 5 years older? then maybe £18 mill is about right.

      (Quote)

  33. ohh and it ended 5-1 in the reserves.
    Ranger hat-trick
    Gosling got 90 minutes.
Sounds like Ferguson had a good game.
    Attendance: 0 😀

      (Quote)

  34. With regards to Bent’s value, we have to acknowledge that the game is changing rapidly now. Villa can only spend £18M on him if they are very confident of making that money back from revenues, give or take a few mil.
I’m really hoping we’re seeing an end to the daft fees and salaries. Be nice if there was a cull of agents too. 😈
I wouldn’t like to see Bent here; there’s just something not right with the fella. Likewise Agbonlahore or however you spell it. But that’s more because he comes across as a complete ***.

      (Quote)

  35. Great to see the ressies did so well; we need these guys to start coming good soon or we’re in trouble. Let’s face it, we’re not about to go spending £18M on anyone, so the talent has to come from within!

    More fun that way, IMHO.

(Ranger needs to focus more on his finishing and less on daft gimmicks like tattooed lips if he’s going to make it; hat-trick or no)

      (Quote)

  36. Ferguson really excites me. I see he had another good game today. The lad has genuine pace and apparently a wicked cross too. Blood him in, or loan him out to Hibernian along with Phil Airey so he can get some games under his belt.

      (Quote)

  37. Just to be a realist for a second I notice Boothroyd has turned us down. Is this becoming a bit of a habit? First Malky Mackay then Peter Taylor then Boothroyd have I missed anyone?

Why do they all think it’s better to stay with lower division clubs than come to us?

      (Quote)

  38. In other news, I see Best is yet again coming under harsh criticism on the .org website. He is being described as “the worst player on the pitch against Sunderland” etc. It seems he is destined to come under harsh criticism whenever he plays unless he scores a goal. Ridiculous.

      (Quote)

  39. Stu: probably a salary thing. Footballers ain’t the brightest or most humble, and it’ll take a while for most of them to realise the boom days are over and nobody’s going to stump up £5m a year for a player who’s yet to prove their worth.

Besides: I really, really don’t want him here. It’s a lot of money to provide very little practical benefit. He’d just be yet another ‘quite good’ striker, and we’ve got a truckload already. I’d rather see someone in the Tiote mould: a bit of a risk, but the tantalising possibility that they’ll bring something new. If they can’t find one… wait.

      (Quote)

  40. Stuart

Bothroyd, Larsson and any other player who is available on a free in 6 months time will always be hard to attract. Their agent will be in their ear, telling them just to wait a few months and get a better deal/club/signing on fee.

As for the assistant manager position. Two things, anyone who comes in will be on the same contract as Pardew, which is performance related. Also, Both managers are currently doing well as managers. It would take a great offer to go back to being a no.2

      (Quote)

  41. WHUMPIE doesnt matter how you spell it m8 hes still a ***,and over-rated imo to much up and down type of player

      (Quote)

  42. El Toro: to be honest, in the first half I thought he was a terrible waste of a player. No pace, awareness, positioning or skill. Much better later on, but still not great. Disappointing after the Hammers game, but let’s not write him off yet.
