Money CAN buy you love……

Andy Carroll

Andy Carroll
Gone, soon to be forgotten.
Andy Carroll is on the verge of joining Liverpool from his boyhood team in a move that is said to be valued upwards of £35 million.

If you sit back and look at it, it’s fantastic money and is probably far in excess if his real value, but then again you could always argue that the potential of Carroll could mean that the price is a fair valuation based upon his age and how much he could improve.

Whatever.

It’s a massive kick in the bollocks from a player who regulalry used to tell us all how he was living the dream playing for his hometown club and wearing the number nine shirt. He talked of emulating Shearer and looking forward to the future at Newcastle United and only recently signed a new five-year deal with the club.

The rhetoric was that Carroll was not for sale during this window, and the club rebuffed numerous bids for the up-and-coming striker including the one that was eventually accepted. In the end, Carroll took the decision into his own hands and handed in a transfer request which the club ‘reluctantly accepted’ according to a brief statement.

The first time that someone flashed a bit of cash in the face of Carroll he walked out. Some may not blame him for that, even I don’t to an extent, but I would have liked to have seen a bit more loyalty from a player that has spent time in the headlines for the wrong reasons more often than he has been in there for the right reasons.

Court cases, arrests, allegations, off-field trouble or whatever, the club, and the fans, stuck by him. Loyalty, on this occasion, appears to have only worked one way.

What has pissed me off more than anything is that it has left us very little time to do anything in the transfer market to try and replace Carroll. Sure he will be a miss, but he isn’t bigger than the club and Newcastle United will live to fight another day.

No doubt he will pass his medical and go on to be a very good player, but no matter how much money the guy has it will never change the fact that he has turned his back on his own after flanelling off an entire fanbase with his cheap talk.

I note that Carroll’s advisors contacted Sky Sports to reveal that the decision made by Carroll was “an emotional one” but never mind eh? I’m sure the cash will help sooth the pain in your Liverpool slums.

The Beatles, another bunch of scouse shitbags, once penned a song called ‘Can’t buy me love’, with the preceeding word being money……

In the case of Carroll it appears it can.

  1. It will be interesting to see what Pardew demands. This is the sort of thing that Keegan would walk over. Pardew in his own words said he seeked assurances that the top players would be kept.

Despite what some think, I think Pards is nobody’s ***** and he will have demanded a considerable chunk of the money for a replacement in the summer perhaps.

  2. Trojan-Nee doubt someone will give him grief after a couple of jars like. We all know how much he likes a canny scrap in the Bigg market aswell. Makes you wonder whether he’s thought it through entirely. He might have just seen the ££’s and wanted out but he has to realise he can’t just walk around Newcastle anymore, he’s going to get public grief from all angles whenever he does.

  3. Just to get this out;

I personally believed Carroll would not leave, I wasn’t one of his biggest fans last year but he kept it going this year and won me over.

Mr Carroll, In my eyes you will be forever viewed as a judas. A turncoat. A money grabbing **** no different to the likes of Balotelli. Please don’t think that coming back to your old home will be good for you.. It won’t.

Just remember, regardless of the price paid, he is NOT worth ten million more than Tevez.

  4. Maybe he wants to play with someone with the qualities of Steven Gerrard. He could learn a lot from him, like how to stick by your club and not f*ck your own race of people over in exchange for money

  5. I found this on the BBC’s transfer page, for those who could use a laugh:

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on Twitter: “BREAKING TRANSFER NEWS: I have just moved from the sofa to my bed!!”

  6. Maybe the docs in Sweden have told him “You’ve got a terrible, treacherous injury that won’t turn up in a medical, but it will never go away. You should sign a giant contract because your career will end in one year.”

  7. Worst part is Moreno I can see him scoring a bagload. Suarez is exactly the type of player we wanted here, to play off Carroll. Service from the likes of Gerrard.

I want him to fail miserably because he’s annoyed me no end but I can’t see it happening. F*cking traitor man.

  8. Aye Ross – that look on his face says it all.

He looks like a man who had engineered a mega-money move while being on a “sicky” and stabbed a load of NUFC fans in back in the process.

I cant believe some folk are criticising the club – you cant force anyone into putting in a Transfer request. Blame at Carrolls door no-one elses.

I sort of get the same impression regarding Pars. Wouldn’t be surprised if he sanctioned the deal on the promise that the money was now his to spend.

  10. They should retire the number 9 shirt, it obviously only means anything to us supporters now, fuk all to the players these days 🙁

    Agree 100% 😉

Ross, I see the same thing. Carroll will light things up at Liverpool: flick ons to Suarez, crosses from Gerrard and possibly Adam in the summer. Shame

  13. Stardust-Might have to sit down for a minute mate, as i completly agree with you  haha.

He had a grin on his face like a cheshire cat all the way from the helicopter and into the training ground aswell from what the sky pictures showed.
As i’ve already said, I dont think he’s thought it through fully. IF he thinks he’s going to be able to come back and swagger round the Bigg market like he owns the place again then he’s a fool.

You’re not Newcastle’s number 9 anymore mate, he’ll have a target on his back for quite a number of lads who’ve had a few pints i’d imagine.

  14. Dave – aye funny how folk are now trying to look for conspiracies – we will never know what went on but we do know Carroll put the request in.

Money is at the heart of it all around, but Carroll obviously wanted to go, it was his choice to go in the end and thereon all the club had to do was maximise value, which they certainly have done.

      (Quote)

  15. FSOTC-That was according to David Craig. But he continues on to say something stupid like

“but there will be no big money spent, at the most it will be a short term loan deal”..In short, we wont get anybody in.

  16. from the Guardian’s transfer blog:

This from our man in Jorvik, Marti Ost. “At the Hotel du Vin in York, have just spotted Elmander with a few suits meeting another couple of suits. My guess is officials from NUFC but what do I know?” Perhaps he’s been to the railway museum as well.

      (Quote)

  17. Simon – Ehhhh – Steven Taylor was a sh#t defender before Carroll left, and I imagine now Carrolls gone he is still a sh#t defender

  18. I think we should give the no. 9 shirt to Benny. I know he isn’t a CF but he’s a forward and if Martins could have it, I think he’s twice the footballer of Martins. The lad seems to have a love and desire to only play at NUFC even when champs league clubs were interested and it would stop him having to wear that rediculous 37 shirt. I wouldn’t give it to Ireland unless he became a legend here in half a season. Failing that retire the shirt until someone comes along who deserves it. Carroll has just pis### all over the shirt with his actions today and made it seem worthless.

      (Quote)

  19. Jay I wouldn’t retire it now because some mercenary took it for granted 😈
I think we just need to be aware now that real loyalty is a thing of the past 👿

  20. Agree about Pards being no ones *****, I’m gonna place an awful lot of faith in magic man Carr over the next few months to do some serious work. Get us 4-5 gems with Carroll’s transfer fee. Just wish he had moved abroad so I don’t have to watch him scoring on MOTD every weekend 😡 😥

I’m also going to suggest that Ben Arfa plays up front when he returns from injury

    Barton–Ireland–Tiote–Jonas
    ————Nolan—————–
    ————–Ben Arfa———–

There is nothing wrong with that lads. And to think people are talking about relegation…twunts

      (Quote)

  21. also, give the No. 9 to Ben Arfa!! I feel he would wear it with pride. Well, see how things go when he’s back anyway. Can’t help but feel like Carroll has shat all over the No 9 tradition 🙁
I was sceptical when Hoots gave him the shirt, but he proved he deserved it. Just not quite sinking in… surely he realises he will never be able to freely walk the streets of the city he grew up in again!? I hope he settles well in Liverpool cos he’s not gonna be leaving in a hurry

  22. David Craig’s sources are telling him that Newcastle have made a significant offer for Charles N’zogbia. Jesus Christ.

  23. “Sky Sports News are reporting Newcastle have had a £10million bid for Charles N’Zogbia turned down by Wigan. More to follow. ”

    WHAT!?

      (Quote)

  24. We wont get it done inside 35 minutes. Another midfielder with no one to put the ball in the net?

That is the definition of panic buy. A player that wanted out and fans wanted rid of.

It’s been confirmed that we have bid 10 million for N’zogbia by Whelan, but it’s been turned down and all other bids will be dismissed.

What are we doing bidding for players with 35 minutes to go? We knew Carroll was leaving hours ago.

      (Quote)

  25. Gonna get slated, but the snake that is Peter Beardsley wouldnt have been discouraging Carroll from a move to Liverpool with his old pal Kenny. Guess if it doesnt work out for Carroll he can always return home too…

  26. tbh I’d take the little french c*nt back at the moment. Actually no…what am I saying… could be tre bad for morale. Wonder if him and Benny would get on

  27. Kinda makes sense considering…..

    a) we need good wingers.
    b) JFK is long gone
    c) It would practically gaurentee a team to get relegated.
    b) It would stop Sunderland from getting him.

Kenny Dalgliesh re-signs Silvio Maric !!!!!

  29. I wouldn’t believe anything you read from now – people are saying we’re bidding for everyone with 35 million coming in, more likely it’ll be stuck in Ashleys bank account till summer and he’ll then give pards 15 mil to spend

Defo gutted about Carroll but hey ho typical footballer, I’ll give it 2 weeks before he’s kissing Liverpool badge

  31. Spot on from the lads on Sky sadly.

    1. If we’ve let our star striker go, with not even a hint of a replacement up our sleeve, even a loan deal, then we’re mental.

    2. Why are we looking to sign another midfielder when there’s no one to put the ball in the net?

    3. Even though the Carroll deal came out of the blue, he has been injured for weeks and could be out for another 3/4. Why were we not looking for a replacement striker anyway to fill the gap?

They were saying if nee one else comes in, we have every right as fans to feel short changed tonight.

      (Quote)

  32. don’t believe that sh*te batty if Carroll didn’t wanna go he wouldn’t have signed their Feckin contract!! He could very easily have said F*ck you I’ve signed a 5-yr contract I’m not going anywhere. If he’s so ‘gutted’ about it why did he turn up at Liverpool grinning like a ***??
Just trying to claw back his reputation, he’s deserted us mate, we’ve gotta deal with it. For once Ashley is not to blame.

Andy Carroll contacted ToonTalk editor Steve Wraith today via text to say, “I’m gutted to be leaving my home town club, i was told to go. I didn’t want to leave that’s why I signed a 5 year deal. I was pushed out of the door.”

Andy asked us to make this public to all fans.

It sounds like it was written by a child, or someone with a serious agenda against the top brass at the club. Simple questions:
    1. He had a contract, you can’t be ‘told to go’, therefore,
    2. If he didn’t want to leave, he didn’t have to.

Some ***** out there tonight like

  35. What I was meaning about Taylor was his loyalty. It was in question right up to the day he signed the contract. Carroll signed one at the start of the season and gone now or good a sgone anyway, Taylor still here

  36. 13 minutes to go, we’re not getting anyone in clearly.
That pathetic last minute bid for Insomnia was an attempt to save face by the looks of things.

We’re in for a long, long run in to the end of the season now. Goals will come few and far between I reckon sadly.

      (Quote)

  37. 5 1/2 year deal for Carroll at Liverpool apparently. Deal completed according to David Craig, I wouldn’t be surprised.

We’ve now bid 12 million pounds for Insomnia and it’s been rejected again. Jesus christ man this is getting depressing.

      (Quote)

  38. Simon I am a big Fan of Taylor and yes I do think he is loyal, but I know there is a lot that dont agree with me 😆
As for all the twitter ***** that Carroll didn’t want to go I would bet my house that he wasn’t forced as there is noway he could have been if he wanted to stay.
But then I guess its easier to blame the Devil ( MA ) than think that one of our own turned his back on us and his hometown club for money 👿

      (Quote)

  39. hitman-Who knows whats going on mate. Our best (might aswell be only) striker out the door and we haven’t even got a loan deal for a canny striker up our sleeve.

Instead we’re looking to bid 12 million quid for a lad that threw a strop in an effort to leave a matter of months ago. Depressing as f*ck man, it’s laughable.

      (Quote)

  40. What is this sh1te about us 12mil for Insomnia? confirmed by wigan as well according to sky..madness…..

      (Quote)

  41. Newkie-We bid 10 that was confirmed and they rejected it and we went back with 12, rejected again.

We’re not even TRYING to bring a striker in. It’s baffling man. What the **** are they doing?

THERES NEE ONE TO PUT THE BALL IN THE NET!!
