Another quick site update…

Up, up and away.
It’s about time for another quick update on this pretty newly created site. As you all know, I like to keep all of you guys in the loop and there are some big changes on the way so it’s important that I mention it separately.

I’ll start with the most important one, which is obviously the name of the site. Don’t panic too much as it’s just a slight change, but it’s an important one all the same. You all know this place as nufcblog.info, which is good, but it will soon be changing to nufcblog.co.uk which is much much better. It’s tidier and is more recognised than the current .info and will help to grow this place, with the help of you guys of course!

Originally I wanted the .co.uk anyway, but somebody had already bought it which made it unavailable. That has changed now though, which may or may not have something to do with hired muscle, hammer’s, rope and a pair of pliers. You will still be able to use the .info extension for a while yet though as both of them will work, but in the long term it will be .co.uk that needs to be used. I’ll let you all know when the change takes effect.

For those who are unaware, we now have a forum which gives you another way to converse with your fellow Newcastle fans. You can create your own conversation in there and don’t have to listen to me whittling on all the time. It’s relatively new, but it’s pretty easy to use and is open now. You can access it by clicking on the ‘NUFC Forum’ link in the top menu bar.

Comment numbers were something that people kept asking about, and now we have them. This will make it easier to reference other posters.

There will be more stuff going on in the background, but that is for the future. In the meantime the focus will be on growing this place and continuing to provide a decent ‘blog (and forum 😉 ) for you all to comment on.

If anyone is using a Blackberry to view this site could you please let me know if you are experiencing any difficulties? If you could try and post a comment using it that would be great, but if you could log in (bottom of mobile page on the right) and then post a comment it would be brilliant as that is what has been identified as a potential issue by one user. Basically this is just to find out whether it is his phone, or whether the site doesn’t like Blackberry’s. If it’s the latter I can fix it.

Onwards and upwards!

  1. Toonsy – mine is a 9700 – the first post after log in works fine, then I get the server error.

I have switched this week to a B’Berry Pearl 9105 (I have sent the 9700 in for warranty repairs outside of the problems) and it returns the same error.

So its not the first post but subsequent ones that seem to cause the problem – once in a blue moon I get one through but its very rare.

Cheers for asking folk though – its appreciated! 😀

  5. Toonsy “As for .co.uk, I’m glad it will be used for this site ” does that affect anything your doing with NewsNow? or will you simply use a forwarder / mirror site for/ from .info

(you might need to check their software on that as it might not like being forwarded?)

On a separate note – “I did say that I’d try and get to the bottom of it ” always thought there was something a bit “*****” about you 😆 😆 😆

Dave my fave phone I have ever had was the nokia 9300 – big phone but even now nothing beats it for plain old functionality – Ive threw away Motorola Milestones, Other Android Phones, a few B’Berrys, not a fan of the IPhone (Sorry toonsy!) and I am still searching for the perfect phone – its a hunt that seems to go on and on! (Im a market mans dream!) – Wonder if Batty has some 9300 bricks going spare

  8. Stardust – It shouldn’t have a massive difference on Newsnow as I haven’t resubmitted yet. I decided to wait for the changes before I try again. Number one because I want to get any changes out the way first. Number two is because it will give us a chance to build up a bit more history, which is why (the lack of history) we got knocked back at the first time of asking.

  11. Stardust-

Might wanna look at some of the new Androids coming out. Idk whats current in England, mind, but there’s a phone coming out by Motorola called the Atrix. Will be an android with a 1ghz dual core processor. I’ve been somewhat impressed with it. Defo better than the iPhone 4, which is what I have. Been through my share of blackberries too, 8100, 8300, 9000, 9700, and now the 9800. They’re still quirky as hell IMO.

Interesting to see quite a few people sticking up with the way the club is going though, and refusing to be cast in the same light as the person who wrote it.

mikey boy – your mate has got you & the rest of the mugs on a string & knows exactly how to play you’s – the c@unt knows whatever he does wrong all he’ll get is a bit abuse that dies down very quickly & eventually your expectations are reduced even futher – then he starts all over again.

the penny will drop one of these days – am shuer.

  21. Artnoon aarl.

Question: my boy started asking about going to watch Newcastle (can’t imagine where he got the idea 😎 ) and I’m working on the missus, trying to convince her of the case for shipping us 400 miles – even via her friends’ place in Carlisle and taking a 5-year-old in a football stadium. I think she expects it to be a hothouse of foul language and yobs in their element.

So she’s not entirely daft. 😮

Question is: what’s the youngest age you’d take a kid in there? I’ve watched from the old family enclosure and although some of the language was a bit choice (but that was me) I thought it was fine for a wee one.

  22. Glad to see Evra’s signed a new deal at Man U, so I doubt they will go for Jose now.

Anyways with our next four games being Bolton and Everton at home, Stoke away then Wolves at home how many points to you rekon we should be getting?

I would say we should be getting about 8 or 9 points from those games but with us you cant predict, ever!

  23. Afternoon, lads and lasses.

Toonsy- you enjoy the NFL’s best hits video? lmao

Saw on uncle ed’s site that we’re now linked to Taiwo from Marseille. I feel like if Jose is out in the summer, he’d be a good replacement. My best mate is Nigerian and thinks the world of this guy.

  24. Toonsy-

Well there was an awkward moment where Batty admitted that secretly he’s in love with Mike Ashley 😯

but other than that, ya didn’t miss much lol

  25. OH – I knew that already. The pair are business partners after all 😉

Right, I think the site is back online so let me explain what has gone one.

Basically the name has been changed to the .co.uk now, but you can still use .info. All it will do is redirect you to .co.uk 🙂

We’ve also moved onto a faster server and tweaked the site a bit so it runs quicker for everyone. There may still be glitches, but it appears (fingers crossed) that it’s all working properly.

Basically, the site is ready for the next level already in preparation for when it gets jumping 🙂
