Game on! Newcastle v Bolton.

Will it be home comforts this time around?

It’s game on again as Newcastle host Bolton Wanderers at St James’ Park in what could be a tricky encounter against the in form Trotters.

Not only do we have the fine form of our opponents to deal with, but we also have this Saturday, 3pm kick-off hoodoo to contend with. As I pointed out in my match preview, it’s been two and a half years since Nufc last mustered a home Premier League win when the kick-off has been at 3pm on a Saturday.

Still, hopefully that will change this afternoon, and if it does it will mean that we leapfrog Bolton and climb into seventh place in the Premier League table. if you’d have told me at the start of the season that we would be seventh in the league with only ten games left I would have probably punched you in the face in some vain attempt to try and knock some sense into you!

However, here we are, and with the feel good factor that has been manufactured by the result against Birmingham and perpetuated by the announcements of new long-term contracts for Cheik Tiote and John Carver you would have to hope that we can use that momentum and gain a positive result. Mind you, this is Newcastle United and we could just as easily receive a kick in the nuts as punishment for our enthusiasm.

I’m lucky enough to be at the match so I won’t actually need a stream for once, which means that you won’t have to put up with me moaning about how I can’t get a stream to work. However, for those who do need one, if you find a good one then please feel free to leave a link to it in the comments section below.

That’s just about it really, and all that is left to say is that I hope you enjoy the match. I’m in Newcastle overnight so the team news will be supplied by Big Dave, and I will leave you in the capable hands of MarkToon and Moreno for the duration of my absence.

Howay the lads!

Team news.

  1. ****. Was just thinking “bolton are too good to roll over like this…” Start of 2nd half is crucial now.

What were they doing differently at the end of the 1st half? We were completely bossing it and then… what?

  2. What do we do with the midfield now?

Barton could be out for a couple of weeks after his injury the day and Raylor will be on a 3 match ban i think?

Ireland needs to find fitness and quickly like.

  3. we have no chance at this rate, we are camped in our box, there is absolutely no link between midfield and attack. Nolan is stood still in our own half

  4. tell you what like, the officials have got the vast majority of decisions wrong (bar the taylor red card)

  5. Oh well not a bad result after we were down to ten, Another point closer to safety.

Surely weve just witnessed Ryan Taylors last ever appearance in black and white unless grimsby or darlo are interested… 👿

  6. ah well, could’ve easily lost that having gone down to 10 men, and I said I would’ve taken 4 points from these two home games, so i’m not too disheartened.

Just a shame though we’ve not been able to take advantage of he makems poor form

Another chance, hopefully NEWCASTLE CAN TAKE IT THIS TIME,this isn’t such chance anymore.

  8. anyone but Perch 😯

dissapointed that we couldnt capitalize and leap frog the unwashed today

R.Taylor, wtf was he thinking!? 👿

shame Ranger’s goal ruled offside, wasn’t it marginally off? Could have been a goal on another day

  9. we will play simpson RW and S.Taylor RB i would have thought

didnt we push simpson up to RM today? maybe a test for him

  10. Ref was utter utter Tosh. The one thing he got right was the sending off. Mind you, Taylor was gash anyway. We struggled in the middle today and gave ball away a lot of times . Tiote and Nolan were both guilty of it. Best played well and out himself about. We were ok, but ok is about it to be fair.

In the hotel now anyway. Its travelodgetastic 😉

    Ryantoon – Welcome along 🙂

  12. People can blame the ref all they like, we had chances in the first half to win it – Lovenkrands missed a sitter, then straight after Best had a chance on the rebound.

Jonas was against a 32 year old left back playing right back, came up with nothing at all, just glad Pardew took him off.

Sturridge was quality I thought, all round he did well, link up play, movement and got himself a goal.

Lets hope Bartons ok for Everton because Guthrie on the right is awful, anyways it was great to see Benny on there on the bench.

  13. just got back from the match and have never seen a more incompetent ref and linesman 😈 the ref was consistent tho, consistently wrong. honestly i am so mad right now!!!

  14. Andrew – I was bout level with Ranger and my first reaction was to look at the link. Mind you, I did spend an awful lot of time looking ar him. I may have been constantly calling him a fat useless c### aswell 😉

  15. I really want to see Nile get a start against Everton, every time he comes on he makes a good impact, he just needs to get a goal!

  16. Good on ye Toonsy. Well all I will say is to make sure you don’t end up in Diamonds strip club on Greys St, open until 4:30 am, after a few beers. Mrs wouldn’t be pleased 😉
