Routledge set for summer QPR transfer.

Permanent move for Routledge.
Wayne Routledge looks set to be a guaranteed departure in the summer as news has emerged that QPR and Newcastle have agree a transfer fee for the right-winger.

In truth, I think most of us had a hunch that the move would likely be made permanent in the summer, but given that QPR manager Neil Warnock has now confirmed this we can turn that hunch into a confirmation – Routledge will be off in the summer.

I questioned the wisdom of sending Routledge out on loan in January, as did many others to be fair. It just didn’t make sense to release him when we didn’t get another, better version to replace him, and let’s be honest Routledge is infinitely better that Ryan Taylor who should never ever ever be allowed anywhere near a black and white shirt again, unless he gets a job as one of them roller-skate waiters at an American theme bar or bowling alley or something.

Anyway, the door was opened for Routledge to leave, and it was promptly shut and bolted behind him as Alan Pardew revealed to the world that Wayne was not good enough to help take Newcastle forward. Going by performances so far this season, I’d probably agree, but I still think it was a little harsh airing the dirty laundry in public so to speak.

I only say that the deal looks likely as it also looks likely that QPR are going to be promoted. They are looking pretty nailed on for promotion at the minute and only a late season collapse looks like it will prevent them from claiming a spot in the Premier League next season. If that happens then the move will go ahead, according to Neil Warnock anyway.

“I think they’ve sorted out a realistic figure. I can’t give exact details, but I think we’ve agreed everything with the club should it go ahead,” Warnock told the Ealing Gazette.

“I don’t think there’s any rush for either of us. We’d like to sign him, whatever happens, but I imagine it depends on where we end up, because I think Wayne would like to play in the Premier League. If things went wrong for us, then he’d probably go back. He’s got to be enjoying it because of the way he’s playing and we’re enjoying having him. We’d love to keep him.”

Warnock added: “I thought he’d do well for us. That’s why I chased him for so long and talked to him so many times. Pestered him, in fact. It can sometimes be difficult coming back to a club, but I told him it was a lot different now and I felt the club was geared up to let him play his best.”

“I thought we were a solid side and I thought you need players like Wayne to win games and I’m delighted to get him.”

Best of luck to Wayne then. He was important for us in our promotion run in, and it looks and sounds like he is being important for QPR in their Championship run in.

Cheers Wayne!

  1. Anyone reckon if QPR does promoted(Highly possible),will they start splashing the money Like Man City? 😯

Mind you,QPR is one of the richest clubs in the world right now.

All the best to wayne then,a journeyman. 😐

  2. Glad he’ll be going – he’s clearly not good enough and never has been. How many PL clubs has he had?

  3. Shame really, we have no Barton or Ryan Taylor so it seems Guthrie or Ireland out of position then.

I hope Pardew puts Jonas on the right and Ferguson at left wing, we need players in their natural position. Not everyone can adapt like Barton has.

  11. On topic though… Agree with Stu, maybe he can advertise his services as ‘Wayne Routledge – Championship promotion specialist’ and just work ad-hoc for playoff chasing clubs

Not good enough for the Prem….but you just know he WILL come back to bite us one day

I suggest you watch your language when speaking to man that should be knighted. He had more than enough expierence to share throughout the entire team. Players like Nolan and Carroll looked up to him, Like a father figure.

  22. Toonsy I dont think he’s that bad. At least he can put in a decent cross unlike Routledge, he’s a good squad player for us.

  23. Moreno, I think it was near the end. I am 90% sure it was after Fulham took the lead but I can’t swear to it. Defo second half.

I was saying he’s still only 19, every time he comes on he changed the game. He came on against Liverpool when it was 1-1 and we won 3-1, where was Carroll when he was 19? He was out on loan at Preston.

They all don’t have a clue, they didn’t know he was 19, and Malcolm said he’s doing something wrong off the pitch so I said well we could loan him out next season and they all laughed, so i said i’ve had enough of Malcolm and hung up.

Malcolm said ‘We’re now into Feburary’.

Someone needs to tell him it’s the 3rd of March. 😛

  30. I think Wayne probably is a Prem player, just not for a club that has more ambition than not getting relegated.

We have to hope that QPR gets promted- as was said they have a ton of cash and we might be able to pry loose a couple of million for the summer transfer kitty

He doesnt have a clue, he said the other week we don’t have a player on loan – someone rang in saying we have Ireland on loan, so Malcolm said it doesnt matter because its a view to buy…Even though its not.

  32. MDS you could be right I was maybe a bit Harsh on him, he would maybe be suited to a Blackpool, QPR type team.
But I dont think he was up to our standard

  33. I see Ireland is out,
Great, now Bobby Shilton no.9 is going to post that he told us Ireland was going to get injured last week.
Because he has a source, and we wouldn’t listen because we’re jealous of his source.

  34. Tired and going to bed so I’m going to sum up all my opinions on discussions.

Fak Judas don’t want him back, hope he flops at pool…

I hate Man U but hate Cesspool and Dogleash more… hope they lose.

Don’t wanna discuss Enrique replacement. Enrique will stay. Please.

A guy correctly said R.Taylor got sent off in the second half. McDonald said no no it was the first half (he didn’t it was on 60mins or something). Then he said Bolton scored in the second half, ( they diddn’t it was Sturridge in the first half). He needs to pay more attention if he’s going to argue the point so much.
