Meet Jose Enrique’s potential replacement.

One of the most important things this summer will be to try and tie down some of our current players who are approaching the end of their current contracts.

One of those players is Joey Barton, and the other one is Jose Enrique. As our only real senior left-back, it is vitally important that he is tied down to a new contract, although there is a growing suspicion that the Spaniard could be off in the summer.

This is why Alan Pardew is apparently lining up a replacement for Enrique should he decide to leave the club in the summer, and it appears that a name has been identified should the worst case scenario happen come the summer transfer window. That name is Cheikh M’Bengue.

It’s been rumoured that Graham Carr and Alan Pardew have both been at a couple of Toulouse matches recently, and with M’Bengue currently playing for Toulouse it could be he that our staff were taking a closer look at.

This isn’t an original link as we were linked with the 22-year-old in the summer and a fee of around £4 million was mooted if I recall correctly. Being honest, I’m not going to fob you guys off and claim to be a fountain of knowledge with regard to this player, but a quick bit of digging around leaves me a bit feeling a bit apprehensive if we were to firm up any interest and sign the lad.

He’d probably be best described as a ‘tough tackler’, and I say that because of his past disciplinary issues. In the 2007-2008 season, M’Bengue was banned for 13 games for seriously injuring an opponent from the Monaco youth team after a dangerous tackle.

Then in 2009, he was banned for a further three months for seriously injuring a Monaco senior player. The tackle only got a yellow card at the time, but the suspension came later which kind of makes a mockery of the Premier League when they claim that FIFA say they can’t take action if the referee has seen the incident.

Maybe he just doesn’t like Monaco for some reason? 😉

It is slightly worrying though isn’t it? I mean we have a habit of picking up yellow cards anyway, so could you imagine what it would be like with M’Bengue and Tiote in the same side? I would hazard a guess that we would be at the bottom of the fair play league anyway!

So it’s just a rumour, but it does hopefully indicate that Newcastle are at least planning for the summer. Hopefully, it won’t come to this as Enrique will sign a new deal and everything will be happy ever after.

Until then though, the speculation will continue…..

    Stuart – Do you know for a fact that he had money problems? I know I don’t….

    I’m going off what he has said in the past. He said he was thinking of closing the blog down etc… Couldn’t work due to health issues and that had an effect on his finances.

    Reading between the lines it would suggest he was a little strapped – especially if he couldn’t work.

  3. Ice – I have no reason to lie and can send you the e mails between him and Hugh in which they were discussing it (not Hugh’s fault at all btw). There is a reason why so many writers have gone by the wayside on .org, and why so many have come forward and volunteered for writing now that they aren’t on ,org……..

    I’ve just e mailed Worky asking for your DVD back as it’s the very least that can be done. Actually, the very least would be an apology to myself for spreading lies about me, but I won’t hold my breath on that one.

  6. Toonsy I think you will be waiting a while for an apology 😆 he will anh has always tried to turn it around to make the other person look guilty.
    The same happened with me on a thread last year when I took offence to being called names, BBM, Stardust, Stuart and Geordie Deb and a few others all read it the sameway I did and said to worky but Worky tried to say it was me that was making it up and I was trying to convince other that worky was a liar.
    Then at the end of last year he tried to say I was Racist he still hasn’t said sorry 😆

    Dave,

    As for what I have done with the donations, I borrowed over £150 of the money to fix some serious hardware problems with my PC and around £15 per month to keep up my broadband. I have suffered a complete financial meltdown recently through ill health which left me unable to work for long periods. Without the money which was donated, I would have had no PC, no Internet connection and hence, no site.

    I asked Hugh if he thought that it was in some way “wrong” that I should do this, and he seemed to think that it would be ok.

    Another £90 or so went on paying for the hosting of the site for several months and renewing the dommain registrations. I am still paying for the old hosting, which runs out in April. This is on top of around £150 I have paid in hosting charges and domain registration fees for the site before my finances collapsed, though I am not counting that.

    Happy now, Dave?

  11. Well as I’ve now been completely banned off .org, it would appear that I was bang on the money. None of the money went on upgrading the site, which was what the aim was for, some of the money went in his sky rocket for what it had already cost him to run .org, and the rest went to fix his own computer. Bless.

  54. CC – What cause this bother was Worky saying that I took time to copy .org….. The irony in that is outstanding give the way that site was formed, and the fact that I have gone out of my way to make this place different and will continue to do so (more plans 😉 )

    Of course this is false and any half wit with a search engine can back that up. I took umbridge to it so levelled the scores by revealing that those donations that people gave to improve the site actually did no such thing and, as has been admitted by the man himself, those donations actually went towards paying himself back for what he had paid for the site in the two year previously and for fixing his very own computer and paying for his broadband. The man is a liar and a thief, and he has admitted that himself.

  74. Got to admit, I stopped going on .org or at least hardly went on coz of what worky was saying about Big Dave, he was bang out of order. I started reading .com again, that’s where got the info of Perch I think, that this site had been set up. Toonsy, u ran .org or at least kept it going. Good to see you have your own place and people can say what they like on here, within reason and no backlash from anybody. So good to have a decent site again
