Jose’s fitness boost.

Jose fit to feature against Wolves.
Newcastle have been handed a fitness boost with the news that Jose Enrique’s hamstring injury is not too serious and that he should be available for the crunch game against Wolves at the start of April.

Jose limped out of the game against Stoke in the 23rd minute which eventually brought about one of the highlights of the game when Shane Ferguson was brought on to replace him. Ferguson impressed in the absence of the Spaniard but let’s be honest, the lad isn’t anywhere near first choice yet and if Jose is fit then Jose will play.

I was surprised to see Enrique in the starting line up anyway to be fair as I thought he was set to miss out. Indeed we were told before the match how unlikely it was that Jose was going to feature, but when the team was announced it appeared that Jose had proved his fitness. In fact it was Jose’s confidence that convinced Pardew to play the lad.

“We genuinely felt he was fine late on Friday, but it was still a late call,” said Pardew. “I told the Press what I did on Thursday, because I honestly thought he wouldn’t be playing. I really didn’t think he would, but he was so confident, I went with him.”

Rightly or wrongly, Jose played, but it sounds like it was his persuasion that did the trick on Pardew. It backfired of a sort though when he limped out of action, but the good news is that the hamstring is only tight and hasn’t been strained. Pardew continued:

“We don’t think that it’s going to be a serious one, genuinely not. It’s hard to read with Jose when it comes to injuries. The good thing is he hasn’t pulled anything, it’s just a tightening. We took him off as precaution.”

So it’s fingers crossed that Jose’s hamstring can hold out, and with Joey Barton and Jonas Gutierrez stepping back into the action and gaining a bit more fitness it can only be a good thing ahead what is fair to say is a relegation six-pointer.

Newcastle simply must not lose that game, but that will only be made easier with the return to fitness of three of our regular starters. Leon Best could also make a return and Stephen Ireland is even being talked about for an appearance.

With regard to injuries, it’s GOOD news for a change!

  13. HDP I just couldn’t understand why when there was no **** said about you, and it was basically between Worky Toonsy and myself, so why did you feel you had to fight Workies battles ❓

  14. what comments have been taken out of context ❓
I dont think Workys comment about me not liking Hoots because I was racist was taking out of context or do you think that was a fair comment ❓

      (Quote)

  15. Worky asked if you didn’t like hoots because he was black. Simple question. That’s not an accusation of racism. That was a comment made in the midst of a convo on a blog by a guy who put a lot of work and effort into things.

We all says things that maybe don’t come over too well in a comment box.

  16. Tbh its a clash of the ego’s at times on here, especially between the writers. I just try to rise above it. 😉

  17. Hugh IMO though some things are unexceptable questions to ask and that is one of them. Whether to someones face or in a comment box to someone you have never met, do you understand that?

      (Quote)

  18. So Hugh you think that was a reasonable question to ask someone that you have never met, on an open blog ? as I dont and a few others didn’t think it was. But even after I took offence to that Worky could have said sorry and it would have been forgot about but he choose not to. and that wasn’t the 1st time worky brought up the race card either

  19. DJG. I do understand that. But sometimes we all make ‘throwaway’ comments.

Why do women have small feet? So they can get close to the sink. etc.

    Does that make me sexist?

  20. DJG you are spot on Race, Religion and Sexuality are no no’s
and yeah you can say something in the heat of the moment but be man enough to admit your in the wrong and move on but if your not man enough just ignore it or hide 😉

  21. Big Dave

Don’t think we will get any answers or apologies mate. It doesn’t take a man to apologise………it just takes the acceptance of a mistake and the willingness to put it right.

      (Quote)

  22. Hugh @ 211 that is a funny quip and is not as dangerous a question as is it cause he is black, or are you saying they are the same.

      (Quote)

  23. Hugh I am 99% sure that it wasn’t a throw away comment and was more to do with Worky thinking I was on Stardusts “side”.
DJG I think you’re right its a waste of time and energy 😉

      (Quote)

  24. Hugh I said thanks to Paul on the same night that I donated to his Blog and asked him if there was owt else I could do to let me know. and I have thanked him before that too ???

So just to confirm you think it was ok for Worky to ask me that on an open Blog ??

      (Quote)

  25. When did you last say thanks to Paul for the effort he put into the blog?

    😆 😆 😆

I never say thanks to toonsy, and he put in twice the effort of paul.

      (Quote)

  26. Plus they do it anyway because they enjoy it, ask toonsy, he doesn’t do it to have to read my comments everyday.

      (Quote)

  27. I wasn’t arguing I was just asking a simple question which you dont seem to want to give a straight answer too which a yes or no would sufice ❓
I did have the decency to answer your question straight away about thanking Paul.

  29. BD, I’ll ask you the question now. Did you have anything against Hoots for being black? Yes or no? End of as far as I’m concerned.

DJG. A SWAT team will shortly be breaking through your window re the recovery of my pencil.

  30. Hugh.

They won’t find the hole punch though, Gaddafi’s borrowing it off me.

(Above see reference to an acceptable throwaway comment) 😉
