Twitter gossip…. One winger and one keeper to join?

We all love a bit of gossip, well I know I do anyway, especially when it comes to NUFC!

I’m fully aware that most of it is complete tosh, but I still can’t keep away from it. Like a fat kid in cake shop (I’m ready for the jokes!), I get drawn to it and just have to have a look and a good old chinwag about it. So basically I’ve found a bit of gossip for us all to deliberate over. Many of you will remember the name cwarr07, but if you don’t he is the infamous Twitter chap who gave a lot of people the heads up on certain deals with regard to transfers in and out at NUFC.

Now I’ll be the first to say that I’m always sceptical, but to be fair to whoever it is he called the permanent transfer of Hatem Ben Arfa before it happened as well as the Stephen Ireland loan deal and confirmed the Andy Carroll transfer before it happened. Now I’m not saying he is constantly right, but he has called a few specific deals right.

Anyway, my point is that he has opened up again and has posted this (below) on his Twitter account today. Make of it what you will, but to me there is one name that screams out to me there,
and that is Kieron Westwood from Coventry.

If that is the case then quite what it means for our other goalkeepers will remain to be seen. Forster to Celtic maybe? We’ve been linked with Westwood before so perhaps it’s just me putting two and two together and coming up with five? Westwood is out of contract in the summer and is unlikely to be offered a new deal due to the current troubles at Coventry City.

As for the winger, pass. I’ve no doubt that Seb Larsson will be mentioned as he is out of contract although I was under the impression that no deal could be discussed between two clubs in the same FA until one month before the current deal is due to expire? Mind you, it would be a bit naive to disregard anyone talking to anyone else in a ‘hush hush’ kind of arrangement. Let’s face it, it happens.

So what do you make of it? Just more random gossip or is there something more to it?

  16. On the keeper sending Krul and Forster on loan next season and signing cover for Harper makes sense.

    On the winger I thought at the time Wigan would say come back in a few months and the hideous little ***** can be yours for a mere £8m-£10m.

    I read this in the sunday rags so hes just rewriting it and making it look like hes got fingers in pies, The sad ****.. 🙄

    Why would we sell Forster and loan Krul out? It would be silly and it would just mean we have to replace someone who is actually already at the club. Not going to happen.

  24. Frankly I don’t care much about the goalie situation; we’re spoiled rotten as it is so it’s just tweaking.

    It’s the winger I’m interested in. Plenty of gooduns out there, but how many that fit our template and would come here? And how many of those are not utter twuntmuppets with gold-plated eyebrows?

  25. can somebody explain to me how n’zogbia is a ‘hideous little *****’? – christ…he was ****ed around by the club consistently – (couldnt get into midfield – his natural position) – and played most of his games at left back!!
    to cap it all – JFK treated him like a prize c**t.
    frankly – i couldnt care if he sulked all the time he was here – or if he didnt fit in to the ‘group of lads’ – we got him for nowt and sold him for £6m. He’s turned into one of the country’s most exciting young players in a frankly **** team. I’d have him back the morrer

  30. Sorry, but for me Insomnia personifies everything that was rotten in the club back then. His attitude (which encapsulates everything I hate about the French) sucked the life out of the squad. In my job I know it takes just one person like that to destroy the team culture and no matter how talented someone like that is (they usually are right up there and know it) they are not worth it.

    Why have him when there are other options for the same money but without the baggage?

  32. Forster vs Westwood would be a great fight for #1 in 2 years. I think FF is gone to Celtic though. Westwood/Krul would be a great pairing. I like the idea of bringing in another top rated keeper. Shows the team is looking to start competing seriously in Cup play and hopefully Europe. We need to deepen greatly.

  33. Besides – if Insomnia ‘calmed down’ any more he’d be in a coma. He has this attitude that he’s the best in the world (remember his claims about moving to a top club before going to Wigan) and thinks he can get by without putting the work in.
    When he’s focused and fired up he’s brilliant to watch.. but that’s just not often enough.

    And given our need for flexible players, he’s the last thing we want. Ask him to move four inches to the left and he’s off to see his mum.

  34. N’Zogbias a good player but i took offence at the way he slagged the club after leaving.

    Milner was here at the time as Zog and was treated IMHO worse by the club he aint resorted to being shitty in the rags.

  40. Not that keen on the Gera thing; I think we need to recruit a level above him now and although he’s a free agent his wages have to come out of the same pot as transfers for other players.

  48. I’m glad they are coming over this summer- not just for selfish reasons. The heat and humidity is good for conditioning, plus you are playing in-form sides in the middle of the MLS season, the MLS clubs and supprters desperately want to win these matches which makes for a good atmosphere.

    Milan, ManU and Barca are already announced summer tours and 3 mathces a piece.
