The perfect Saturday.

One in, Six to go.
With our beloved NUFC not taking to the pitch until tomorrow it leaves us looking on at the other fixtures with a keen interest.

Usually I pay little attention to the other results until they are in, but just for a bit of interest I thought I would sling up a new article where we can discuss the merits of the scores as they happen aswell as the repercussions and implications that each goal scored could have on our survival chances.

The first result is in, and it went in our favour as Everton beat Wolves 3-0 at Molineux. That’s back to back defeat for Wolves now as we beat them 4-1 last weekend. Seven goals conceded in two games in the run in of a Premier League survival battle is not ideal, and I feel that today could be a significant nail in their Premier League coffin.

What about the other games though? What would be the best results from a purely selfish, Newcastle United perspective. Let’s see.

Blackburn v Birmingham – A draw would probably be the best result for us in this game and would keep both sides four points away from us.

Bolton v West Ham – Bolton win, easily. This would keep West Ham in the bottom three.

Chelsea v Wigan – Pretty straightforward. Chelsea win. That would keep Wigan bottom of the table,

Man Utd v Fulham – Again an easy one to decide – home win. That would keep Fulham behind us, and a heavy defeat for Fulham would impact their goal difference and make our goal difference better in comparison.

Sunderland v West Brom – Draw probably, although ideally both sides would lose 😉

Tottenham v Stoke – Tottenham win. That would keep Stoke behind us.

Basically, if the teams below us fail to gain then even if we lose against Aston Villa tomorrow it would keep the gap between us and the rest of the pack the same, but with one game less to play.

Finger crossed!

  4. Well two died of a broken back today and recently two were electricuted, I know that was an unfortunate accident but horses are regularly killed as a direct result of the racing. I was in Italy when they have that famous race, can’t remember the name. Horses usually die every year in that one because the course is so narrow and dangerous.

Again thats got nowt to do with it. Attempting to use an irrelivant arguement to try and justify the unjustifiable. ie. the needless killing of animals in the name of sport. Whether it’s in an underground London club or a posh sport on the bbc, makes no difference it’s still barbaric. I certainly won’t be betting on it because I think it’s stupid really.

  15. ‘DJG how many spectaitors have been killed while watching motor racing’

I don’t know but if its because they were standing in the way or something, who’s fault’s that? And they had a choice to go and stand there. You say 36 footballers have died, no they haven’t I can’t remember any actually dieing of injuries sustained while playing. People dieing in accidents in these other sports is very rare and unfortunate. It is not comparable to 3 horses statistically fatally injured every single grand national weekend. It’s not like a player died in every world cup is it? What you will find Batty is that there is no comeback whatsoever in this arguement. By the way would you bring back fox hunting and dog fighting? The number of animals killed is about the same.
