Game on! Newcastle United v Manchester United.

The cathedral on the hill.
Man Utd the visitors to SJP.
The game this evening will be very much a tale of two United’s, although there will be only one true United on show.

Manchester United may have the better players, the trophies, the adulation of the media. They may even be referred to as ‘United’ by many in a way that almost disregards the fact that other teams who are legitimately carrying the ‘United’ after their name actually exist. But they will never be a true United – that honour belongs to Newcastle!

Not that it will have any bearing on the result this evening of course, but it makes me feel better knowing that they will never be a real United, no matter how much the media try and and portray them as being the only United that counts.

Rant over! Now I can turn my attention to the match….

It’s highly unlikely that Newcastle will take any points this evening, but you have to live in hope I guess. Our recent history with Manchester United would suggest that any hope may be futile but you just have to roll with it and see what the team in black and white can put together. Shocks do happen!

The match will be shown live on Sky Sports and is available on many channels the world over so we should all be able to see it somewhere, whether that be a pub or the comfort of our own homes. If you can’t watch it on TV then I’m sure there will be plenty on internet streams knocking about. Nothing will beat actually being there though, so to those who are going make you sure sing your hearts out for the lads and have a goodun!

The match preview is here if you haven’t already done so. It features some early team news, injury news and some facts and stats ahead of the big game tonight.

As I said, I’m not getting my hopes up. I expect a lot of hard work and endeavour from our lads, but I also expect that all that effort will amount to nothing against a team that is gunning for the title.

Howay the lads!

  5. who were the ones that had us down for a thumping tonight 😆
I keep saying it but if we dont have a bit of faith how can we expect the players to have faith 😉

  6. Good to see Ireland brought on. Liked him up front too…could be a nice little move I think.

Would love to see a performance like that at Blackpool.

I know it’s early now, but Nolan, Barton, Jonas, Tiote, Guthrie, and Ireland all healthy and back in action…who do you go with?

I suppose Jonas, Nolan, Tiote and Barton to start. But I want to see more of Ireland.

  7. Dave….don’t mind people saying they’ll think we’ll get nowt but some state it as a fact. The day there’s a Toon match that I think there’s no chance of us getting a result, then that’s the day I’ll stop watching football 👿

  8. Thought Ireland was one of the only players to make intelligent runs to find space, something we have lacked this season and something we should expect more of from Loven!

Glad the ref didn’t do the usual ‘Man Utd’ penalty in stoppage time.

  9. Must admit, I had us down as being well beat before kick off. Just makes a point all the more sweet

  10. Deffo a penalty for Fergie.
    and he didn’t see Lovos.

F*CK OFF. lying scottish basterd, f*cking idiot.

  11. Throughout the past decade in have seen Man U visit a fair few times in the flesh and it is the only game I worry about at SJP through multiple past experiences.

Rich, me too. Nearly punched the wall!

  12. Moreno we all do it but I just think that we as fans have to have a bit of faith in the lads or how else can we expect the players to have faith in doing the job.
But its easy saying it after that game 😆

  13. Good performance all round from the lads, shame we couldn’t get a goal like but only the third team to keep a clean sheet against manure so i’ll take that. Definitely a pen for us and then hernandez learning well of his manure c*nt diving team mates i.e nani, good on the ref for carding and not buying into his ****. Shola and lovens tracking back was crucial I reckon and they really helped the team out, Tiote was a beast yet again.

  14. I like Jamie Redknapp..he gives us a lot of credit..probably the only pundit who does..
Alan was refreshing in his post match interview and said although it was dangerous that simmo left his foot out ,the ref made the right and brave call..
Sir Alex is a total disgrace though..he said the Hernandez pen is a stonewall pen and it was a disgrace that the ref booked him..what a complete tool…and on the loven pen…it seems he hadnt seen it yet..yeah right…
And I think if Man Utd is allowed a fan in the studio(Dwight Yorke),so should we..

      (Quote)

  15. That was defiently a penno but I think the ref did us a couple of favours aswell.

  16. Ermm, I said we had to keep Rooney quite then some idiot started saying he was shyte.

I dont ever remember saying we would get hammerd but I might of 😆

  17. And by the end of the summer people’ll be saying they always thought Enrique would stay.

  18. Im not denying, before the match I though we were going to take a stuffing 😆

But I dont remember saying it 😆

  19. Aye but toonsy when are you ever right “I feel we could be on the end of another humping come around 9:40pm tomorrow evening”

  20. Big dave- Link me mate 😉

Oh well, I didnt think we would tbh.

Had Krul not made that cracking save in the first min we would have. 😆

  21. Dave – Just a feeling.

Bris – Did you expect us to get a point? I didn’t. Good result and that, but the form book, previous history, players available, bookies odds, my opinon, everything pointed at a defeat.

I tell you what. I’ll gove this blogging **** up FFS. Sorry I got something wrong.

    In a bit.

  22. ‘I am just concentrating on playing my games for Newcastle. I know there are some difficult things in the club but we don’t have to think about that. We have to think about keeping this team in the Premier League because we have to win one more match, I think.

‘So we don’t talk about a new contract yet and I don’t want to talk any more about that. I am happy with that.

‘If I have to go I am happy. I am happy in England but if have to go to another league and country, I am happy.’

  23. Big dave, it takes alot for a real man like me to admit he is wrong 😉 😆

    Ok… I was wrong 🙄

      (Quote)

  24. My thinking was based on the fact that before tonight Man Utd on the road had won 5 drawn 8 and lost 3, tied with a gut feeling I thught the draw was well on 😉 😀

      (Quote)

  25. Spencer proud of ye 😉
I know it dosn’t look brill but I still think there is a chance but the bottom line is if he dosn’t want to stay well good luck to him if its in a different league 😀

      (Quote)

  26. 293-The fact that im a real man? Is that what is correct? 😉

I think someone on FM last night said that there was more next week.

  27. Rich – Thank god you were right. Heaven forbid you being wrong. You;d have your comment copied and paste and made out to be a **** by some 🙄

  28. Richie mine was based on the fact that I hate to say that we will get beat as it makes me feel guilty.
Plus the fact that we always up our game against the big teams I just wish we had Nolan tonite playing in the hole, as Lovens just doesn’t look the same player lately 🙁
