Blackpool 1-1 Newcastle – Video highlights.

Due to the lack of working options with regard to highlights of the 1-1 draw with Blackpool I thought I’d better try and dig some out from somewhere. So here you go.

Not much else needs to be added to be honest. I had originally thought the Blackpool goal was a bit dubious, but the BBC got their toys on the matter and proved it was over the line and was a legitimate goal. This raises questions over Jose Enrique’s position behind the goal line, but I guess it’s not important now.

You can view the match report here or you can check out the reaction from fellow fans as the game progressed by having a read of the 390 comments during our match thred here.

Any final thoughts?

  1. I thought we defended the corner for Blackpools goal badly…therein lies the problem. First line of defending is don’t let the ball get in the box, makes it easier to defend….Of course it was a corner, but still a badly executed corner….

At the end of the day though, we’re almost safe, and after the turbulence of the last 2 seasons, I’ll settle for that !

We now move into a new phase, new season among the big boys, a stable coaching staff installed, senior players hopefully signed up in the close season, new additions added to the squad. Now is the time Alan Pardew, it’s all yours now, …let’s see what happens, time will show if he has the wherewithall (canny word eh ?) to manage the toon in the goldfish bowl… Expectations are high for next season, I would imagine we’ll all be looking at Europa League qualification, and why not …?

  2. AndrewNUFC….used to like following the Old Firm games, but what with all this sectarian **** going round up there I’ve been turned right off with Scottish football…. Abysmal state of affairs in the modern day… 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

      (Quote)

  3. AndrewNUFC…didn’t Alan Shearer fettle him in the toon Leicester game a few years back ? 👿 👿

  4. We aren’t mathematically safe yet, so we’re err….not safe yet … 👿 👿 👿
Call me a doom and gloomer, but the way we blow hot and cold we could end up picking up zero points from the last games, or 12 points, depends which toon team turns up…. Pardew will look rather foolish if we get further draggted into the mire, especially when it all comes down to the wrong attitude being communicated by the management team…
There are still loads of bucks to play for….half a million quid per place or sumat like that I believe…

  5. Yeah I remember that…but apparently Lennon said it was nothing after they were reviewing it or something and they were alright, still no idea what Shearer was doing like… 😀

  6. Would love to be in the away end for one of these games like, atmosphere looks something else.

      (Quote)

  7. Aye would be an immense atmosphere to be fair.
Really hope we can hang onto Krul and Forster…both look solid keepers and i’d hate to loose either one of them 😕

  8. Not much in the way of transfer rumors this morning.

The few things I’ve read is we’ve been watching Joe Bennett at Boro’ and Westham want Nolan if they stay up 🙄

  9. toonsy@12…I know mate, but “toon” and “monumental” go hand in hand…. Don’t need to go into the stats, but it’s feasible that we get nowt from our 2 away games….of course the rest of the teams below need to put runs together…But we saw yesterday how the luck can go, we could have been cuffed 3-1 yesterday…

I agree we are most probably safe, but I’ll be happier when its mathematically sorted…

  10. West Ham have flirted with relegation for a while now…there time has come I’m afraid…. 🙁

  11. Toonsy you know its just a minority who do that kind of thing? And to be fair if you grew up in Northern Ireland you’d know that the British Army hardly has a sterling reputation…

Plus Rangers fans tried to murder Lennon and several other Celtic fans, is that any better?

      (Quote)

  12. Newkie – I’m fully aware of what went on. Neither of them are right and it is just a minority of course. However, I’d couldn’t give a toss about any club, minority or not, who bad mouth soldiers who are defending this country. Have a go at the Army hierachy by all means, but don’t go on at the troops who are just following orders from the people above them.

No time for them Celtic scum.

  13. I’m not a fan of Lennon either. but noooooo… it wasn’t me who sent him a bomb. Imagine the postage costs! 😯

  14. I tell you what when I seen the headline Ed used after the game yesterday it just made me dislike him and everything he stands for even more 👿

And then I read the comments and I just thought… Why bother 😕

      (Quote)

  15. Well my brother was in northern ireland too, was in the army 9 years and spent a lot of time there. Our nan was a catholic born and raised in Belfast however, so I like to think i’ve got a decent insight into both sides. That Celtic chanting is disgraceful, but so is the racist abuse Rangers give out when they go on tour over Europe or when they mock the deaths of individuals, both sides have their sickos.

      (Quote)

  16. Newkie – To be honest I just thin the whole thing from both sides it pointless. I mean I’m not religious at all, not one bit, so perhaps I don’t “get it” in that way. For me they may aswell ban religion for all the good it does in the world!

Both sides have arseholes, neither side are saints, but something about the moaning at the troops, the numbers, the end of the line, does my nut in like. Anyway, I’d have Gary Hooper 😉

attractive football? We cant even play NORMAL football? Remember? the basic technique of passing balls?

    AngerOfTheNorth // Apr 23, 2011 at 5:56 PM

Part of me is actually worried about next season. If we play as badly next season as we have since Christmas, we’re down again. 🙄

      (Quote)

  18. Toonsy-yeah, I’m no fan of religion, was raised to believe in it a bit i guess, nothing whacky, but it just isn’t for me. Yeah, fair enough then, I can see where you’re coming from. Lets just enjoy the football anyway and hope for a Celtic wi…uhh never mind 😆

Yeah quality save that like…b@stard! 😀

  19. Dan – 🙄

Must have got his bandwagon started. I swear it’s partly him responsible for our deluded tag 👿

      (Quote)

  20. I love when people say that Pardew is shyte, even when he’s gained us more points per game than Hughton. Ignoring the facts is the best way to win argument 😉

      (Quote)

  21. Yeah, exactly 🙄 Might be hard coming though, both keepers looking solid, although the defences are a bit dodgy. Hope its not just a 1-0, either way.

      (Quote)

  22. Dan – .org is heading the same way. It’s like you have to have a dartboard with a picture of Pardew on before you can even comment on there anymore. This is why I’ve left a couple of pro-Pardew comments to stir the pot. Only dealing in facts of course 🙂

      (Quote)

  23. Ice 😆

    Toonsy 😉

I really don’t see what they have against Pardew to unlike him so much a mean sure he’s not the perfect manager by any stretch but under the circumstances he’s done a pretty decent job.

If we win it’s the players, if we lose it’s Pardew…

      (Quote)

  24. Defending Pardew, he got the tactics right against Manure…well done to him. We battered them first 15, and got some breaks when ManU missed really good chances which in years gone by they have taken against us… But still we put in a good performance imo….. Pardew must take some credit for this, similarly he must take the responsibility for yesterdays no-show…. Perhaps we just have trouble against clubs that run at us with pace ??… At the same time, we are a “newly promoted team”, and a top ten finish after this turbulent season back in the PL is not three bad if you aske me. Well done the lads so far…

There is some real delusional stuff going round, someone on Eds Blog was really, in all honesty, proposing swopping Enrique and cash for Thomas Müller (young player of the last world cup) or Mario Gomez(Bundelsiga top scorer) for flocks sake, talk about getting things out of perspective….

At least on this blog we have people who can see the facts… 😆 Plus Stu and toonsy who are invariably always spot on … 🙂

      (Quote)

  25. Dan – Ed’s last article is actually sound. It highlights the record between Hughton and Pardew perfectly. We’ve scored more, conceded less, lost less and gained more points in Pardew’s 17 games as opposed to Hughton’s 17 games. And that is without the likes of Hatem Ben Arfa, Andy Carroll etc available. So why the dislike of Pardew when he is getting better results on the pitch?

      (Quote)

  26. Well I suppose I’ll be begrudgingly have to give him some credit 😆

Ed’s blogs problem seems to be there too quick to judge and seem to be the perfect example of stereo typical Newcastle fans

.org just all seem to be grumpy old man who love nothing better than to complain 😆

  27. Cheers Jobey07…daft bollocks it was !!… 😆

Not that I care a flying flock about Scots footy, but I would still like to see Rangers win the league though but….there have shown my true colours…! 😥

  28. Toonsy…it’s a test of resilience posting on .org…..you need to wait 3 or 4 days before anyone responds…my attention span doesn’t reach that far 😯 😯

  29. I think it’s pretty obvious we’ve played better footy since pardew arrived. Every other week there were people complaining about tactics when hoots was boss. That hasn’t been the case since pardew’s been in change.
I think people just dislike him because they see him as ashley’s puppet and just like they’ll never forgive Ashley, they will always equate pardew with the unjust sacking of hoots and thus never forgive pardew.
I was a big supporter of hoots but first and foremost I support the toon and the fact is that Ashley seems right now as pardew’s ‘experiance’ has shown on the pitch IMO.
That being said I still have concerns over his ability to convince Ashley to invest in players. But I think if it was obvious that he had our support it would make that task easier for him.

  31. Ice aye but that lazy git could be a good anchor in lone striker role. Can hold the ball well and distribute. I worry his wages will be too high for a 30 yr old.

      (Quote)

  32. I didn’t realise how anti-Pardew .org has became until I read some of the last few blogs. You would think we were fighting down the bottom with must win games coming up. They don’t even complain about the tactic very much just that he shouldn’t make any excuses for his players (which every manager does) and that they don’t like his history or media persona. It’s petty stuff it really is.

  33. We’re linked with Robert snodgrass
Seems odd that we’ve been linked with all these in-the-hole players yet if we sign Ireland we’ll have 3 that can play there already.

  34. The Sunday Sun have an article on the 1974 quater final versus Nottingham Forest. Now that was an atmosphere that got the body tingling. Amazing scenes

  36. JG he will only do that when he feels like it,one of the reasons red nose picks and choses his games, just think 8mil can be better spent elsewhere, plus what sell on value would he have after 2 seasons dont think that would be ashleys cup of tea imo

      (Quote)

  37. Ice you are a good judge for a young fella 😉
JG I dont care what anyone say’s you cant be anymore of a yes man than Clueless was and I honestly believe that. But your right he will be seen as the man that got CH the sack but MA is the man that sacked him. I still believe that Pards will have 10 times better chance of getting real money out of MA the CH would have, so Pards mightn’t have been my choice but I do believe that he was a better choice.
As I have said before if the rest of the football world thought that he was that good why is he not in management now. I have even heard the ***** that they got rid of him so that they could sell Judas ? does anyone seriously think that CH would have had the power to stop that when he didn’t even have the power to get a replacement for Calderwood 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  38. Ice aye I think I’m leaning towards your side 😉

Dan he can play both. Kind of like the Scottish Benny  But IMO he’s better in the hole (as opposed to the wing not as opposed to Benny 😉)

Dave, think that’s about right as usual although ice might have a hard time playing the full 90 😎
