Game on! Liverpool v Newcastle.

Game on at Anfield.
It’s an early start for fans of Newcastle today as a rather curious midday kick-off at Anfield awaits.

It’s a match that takes on extra significance as it gives fans a chance to have their say on the Andy Carroll affair and allows them a first chance to get their feelings off their chest. Some people may feel that he was forced out, but I very much doubt that many people in the away end at Anfield today will feel the same.

Of course, the reaction to Andy Carroll is just a sub-plot and what really matters is getting a result at a ground where we have traditionally struggled. Liverpool are resurgent at the moment whilst Newcastle are just trying to limp towards the end of the season with an injury-hit and already thin squad.

Still, we held Manchester United to a draw so there is no reason why we can’t do the same today. As I said in the match preview, I really can’t see us getting more than a draw as I just can’t see where our goals are going to come from.

The match is live on ESPN here in the UK and is also available on many overseas TV channels from various parts of the globe. That will mean that there is likely to be a good amount of streams available if you need to watch the match via that means. In fact a quick glance at MyP2P shows that there are plenty to choose from.

I’m not generally a negative person, but I have a bad feeling about today. I’d be delighted if we could pick up a point and I’d be doing naked cartwheels if we won. I feel that my modesty and gymnastic ability will both stay hidden for today though although I do live in hope that we can do something today.

Howay the lads!

Still haven’t threatened to ‘smash your face in’ have I? That remains the biggest catch of them all.

You’ll always be remembered for that, Stardust if you achieve nothing else in your life.

Looks like it’s true then that all story tellers tend to use situations from their own life to tell their stories.

  8. This could be five or six. Hopefully they’ll take their foot off the gas now and give us a chance.

  9. Just a reality check for everyone, but nobody has been talking about strengthening at the back this summer and we’ve defended like fcking school boys today.

If we’re to achieve anything I think we need better defenders than Williamson and Simpson.

  14. Well we haven’t been battered like the scoreline suggests.

Actually knocking the ball about quite nicely now.

Really, really, really hope Ranger gets his goal now. Doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence tho.

Tell me what fcking good that is if we cannot score? It’s fcking pointless that’s what it is.

Does anyone really think that the likes of Tiote and Enrique aren’t thinking “I need to play for a team like this”?

I think they are and they’d be fcking right.

  17. not like we get any help from the ref. but hey, when do we do that?

  18. ….And now for the final insult, we’re bringing Kuqi Ku on.

    Oh the joys…

  19. One good thing is Jose hasn’t impressed anyone today. potential suitors hopefully have been put off

  20. Waddles right though, we’re fcking desperate for a striker, a focal point up front and a midfielder who can create something, although HBA maybe that guy.

We need a couple of strikers and if anyone things Long is the answer ask youself this, would we look a better team today with him up front?

  21. Stu you are a ******. Yeah they might do, who cares. The footballing world is full of players that could play for better teams. I’m sure Baines, Arteta and Cahill all feel they could do better. I bet the half of Arsenal team feel they could as well.
It doesnt work like that, there is not a fine line that is the team standard. A team consists of some players that are better than others. Some with potential and some that are past it.
We are performing above expectations this season so put a dummy in and go for nap time.

  22. As much as i would like to blame LFC and the Ref and so on, fact of the matter is, NUFC have not turned up! Do not deserve to win this one! Makes me sick and sad! 😥

      (Quote)

  23. Stu I expected to see the players all put a full shift in and give it their best, but apart from Jonas who has ran his balls off the rest have just been going through the motions

      (Quote)

  24. That’s to post 190.
I dont think a year and a half ago we wouldve expected a striker struggling to score in the championship to go for 35million. Long has potential, that’s enough for him to be considered.
And we’re losing 3-0 to Liverpool, we’ve looked alright apart from defensive lapses. Everyone in the world knows we need new strikers. Judas jumped at the last minute, there was no time to replace, out second ‘Best’ got injured.
Get a grip and see where the summer takes us.

  25. Its such an obvious statement saying we need a striker, we’ve needed a striker since the beginning of the prem, can’t believe pundits and commentators still churn this sh1te out, as if it isn’t glaringly obvious, jesus christ

Oh dip ****, Baines, Cahill and Arteta are all playing for clubs in the top half of the PL, top 7 in some cases so you’re talking **** and also non of them teams have 50k supporters watching them every other game.

A club with this many supporters deserve to have our ambitions match our best players ambitions and I will bet you as much as you can afford that we end up this transfer window weaker than when we started it in terms of quality.

  28. So Bobby when Tiote signed for us what was he expecting? We’d just got promoted, he should be delighted with how his and our season has gone.

I really admire you for your optimism but where does it come from?

I’m telling you we will achieve fck all as long as the fat man owns this football club.

  31. did anyone else think the last minute Jose sub was a bit out of the blue???????

  32. everything against us today. lady luck and ref are a cruel combo not even to mention our own performances. Only player worth mentioning is Jonas – MoM! would’ve liked to see more abuse of judas tbh. really hate his gut and his team as well.

      (Quote)

  33. Jonas did well, other than that not much to say. Krul still has a lot to learn about coming out and where he should stand. We need someone who can actually take set pieces when Barton isn’t having a good day-that pretty much wasted the five odd attacking free kicks and 50 odd corners we had. Dissappointed about our attacking from set pieces all round-even without Carroll we used to look dangerous, not sure what’s happened to willo/colo/bambi today like

Our strikers aren’t, Big Dave. Their just not good enough unfortunately.

We also need a couple of defenders.

If we’re to be anything other than a mid table club we need to bring in a fair few players, at least 6 I think.

  35. Nathandio-aye, seemed pointless to me, maybe jose was making noises to the bench? poss injury? dunno like

      (Quote)

  36. Embarrassing performance.

Barton and Jonas were the only ones who looked like they gave a shyte today.

Simmo and Willo were shocking! Enrique, disinterested as usual. Passing across his box for the second game in a row, pulling out of challenges to avoid injury. It f*cks me off, i wouldn’t play him next game, sick of seeing his ugly miserable face.

As for the rest, shola and lovo were useless, Nolan didn’t get a kick.
Tiote was okay, the way he’s going he’ll start next season with a 3 game ban, that game was just f*cking annoying.

2 positives. “Taylor shagged your lass” and Jonas.
