Game on! Liverpool v Newcastle.

Game on at Anfield.
It’s an early start for fans of Newcastle today as a rather curious midday kick-off at Anfield awaits.

It’s a match that takes on extra significance as it gives fans a chance to have their say on the Andy Carroll affair and allows them a first chance to get their feelings off their chest. Some people may feel that he was forced out, but I very much doubt that many people in the away end at Anfield today will feel the same.

Of course, the reaction to Andy Carroll is just a sub-plot and what really matters is getting a result at a ground where we have traditionally struggled. Liverpool are resurgent at the moment whilst Newcastle are just trying to limp towards the end of the season with an injury-hit and already thin squad.

Still, we held Manchester United to a draw so there is no reason why we can’t do the same today. As I said in the match preview, I really can’t see us getting more than a draw as I just can’t see where our goals are going to come from.

The match is live on ESPN here in the UK and is also available on many overseas TV channels from various parts of the globe. That will mean that there is likely to be a good amount of streams available if you need to watch the match via that means. In fact a quick glance at MyP2P shows that there are plenty to choose from.

I’m not generally a negative person, but I have a bad feeling about today. I’d be delighted if we could pick up a point and I’d be doing naked cartwheels if we won. I feel that my modesty and gymnastic ability will both stay hidden for today though although I do live in hope that we can do something today.

Howay the lads!

  1. @solano
Tiote has already been bleating on the paper saying he expects to be in the top 4 or 5 next season.
He’s been hoodwinked by Pardew and he’s in for a shock.

Stu surely you have to be optimistic because without it what would be the point

Show any optimism with this fat fcking **** in charge and you just end up looking like a ***** (exactly like Stardust).

Also Stardust are you here? Are you going to answer me? Was that progress today?

  4. Jonas was our best player. All the rest didn’t look interested. I can handle defeat, but I can’t handle a lack of effort. For that, everyone except Jonas is culpable,

Three points needed for guaranteed safety.

      (Quote)

  5. @225 agree with Jose, he looks like a sunday leauge player whos been got out off bed for an early kick off 😆

      (Quote)

  6. Stuart we didn’t even provide anything for the strikers anyway we just never bothered turning up.
I think the players were the same as most of our fans in that they didn’t have any faith in getting anything out of the game so they were beat before they started, and if the fans dont have belief you cant really blame the players 👿

      (Quote)

  7. I’m glad this loss has given the likes of Bobby and Stuart the opportunity to ram their views down everybody else’s throat every other post. It’s not boring or tedius at all 🙄

Worry about the summer when we get, or be like the players and already be there on yer jollies 😛

      (Quote)

  8. O well, moving on …

Really need a few good ones in the off season.

    Jonas did well.

      (Quote)

  9. Im not joking, just though commitment I think I could have played better than most of that team today.

      (Quote)

  10. I think people are getting on at our strikers for no real good reason today. I mean they hardly had any chances created for them did they? If they missed a succession of chances I could understand people moaning about them, but they didn’t.

      (Quote)

  11. Stu @ 228 so I am a ***** because I have faith and try to be optimistic about the team I support. I have enough negative things in my life that I can’t do anything about but if I felt like that about the Toon I think I would try to give it up.

      (Quote)

  12. Yeah fair toonsy I agree. Think Barton tried, but his own ego has got the better of him. Also I think it’s hard to make effort when you have literaly nothing up front.
If Jose Enrique leaves like this it is going to leave such a sour taste. I dont begrudge him a move (even if we stuck by him when he was sh*te). But his lack of effort is unacceptable and it is reminscent of the players we had when we went down.

      (Quote)

  13. **** that Steven Taylor causing all that panic in our back four from 50 odd yards away, Willo was his usual calming presence as ever… 🙄 🙄

      (Quote)

  14. Thing is, people bang on about Enrique like he is the cornerstone of our team. When was the last good game he had? Blackburn away?

He is a left-back at the end of the day. Easily replaceable IMO.

      (Quote)

  15. Agree Big Dave, dont understand people that are forever negative. Whats the point in football if it just brings pain.
Fair enough we played shocking today, but you get Bobby and Stu moaning everyday, I wouldve taken two points against Man Utd and Blackpool beforehand anyway.
Loads of teams get the end of season slump, its stupid the amounts they are paid, but they get demotivated once there’s nothing to play for

  16. CC – Are you saying Saylor never makes mistakes?

I don’t know whether you noticed, but people criticised Williamson earlier. If you take those Saylor blinkers off you may have noticed it 😛

      (Quote)

  17. Solano if Pards knows that Jose is away he should drop him full stop. But maybe he is trying to keep faith with him hoping that he will stay and start enjoying footie again

      (Quote)

  18. Ah, there’s nowt like a defeat to draw everyone together and get them pulling in the same direction 😉 😆

      (Quote)

  19. Toonsy-

Have no blinkers on just grates on me this obsession with slagging Taylor when Williamson makes as many howlers.

On Enrique he was dire again and quite frankly the days of me caring are over if he wants to leave let him, Dock his money from now until the end of the season the ****…

      (Quote)

  20. CC I think Saylor is a better player than Williamson but I think it would be rough on Williamson and team morale if he was dropped without any real reason. I think Saylor just has to wait his chance atm.

      (Quote)

  21. Also, what has happened to Barton and his set-pieces? I’m really starting to think that Carroll made them look good 😕

      (Quote)

  22. Simpson and Williamson were poor today, but people saying they;re not good enough is harsh, because we have defended well this season, most notably clean sheets against Man United

      (Quote)

  23. Sy, im not having ago here, but I wonderd if it was meant to say gome on at anfield, cos if it is a pun what is it?

Im not critisising you so dont have a go at me

      (Quote)

  24. Saylor never makes mistakes….well there was this one time when he had a little disagreement with judas and he bobbed when he should have weaved 😀

      (Quote)

  25. Toonsy I dont think its that I have noticed that he hasn’t been himsel for a while, maybe the contract think is on his mind too

  26. The caption for the pictiure, I didnt no if it was inteded or not, and I was trying to work it out for about 5mins 😆

  27. Keeping the faith is the way forward, although today I nearly flipped out as I watched my team thinking of sunloungers and expensive summer holidays.

Still, there is always next week 🙂

      (Quote)

  28. Dave

Im not totally against Williamson i thought he was a bargain and i like his attitude, IE Arsenal when we come back from 4 down and he was still distraught because of his defensive mistakes but this constant Saylor trashing gets on me tits when their probs as bad as each other.

I personally think after today we should change everyone bar the midfield four for the brum match…

      (Quote)

  29. Difference between Taylor and Williamson —
It’s Williamsons first season in the Prem whereas Taylor has had years and not improved.
Yeah I agree Jobey, n the past 16 games we have only let in more than 1 on three occasions, tbh that isnt bad for a promoted team. It’s just certain games (Bolton, Stoke, Arsenal first half) we just cave in.
We only actually need like 2 players for a cracking starting 11 (playing 4-5-1). It’s more a complete lack of depth in every position other than centre mid that is the problem

      (Quote)

  30. oh right, stange haha, it said gome 😆

Now its changed, thats weird! 😆

    ganning for some soup

  31. Toonsy 😉 without Faith and optimisim you might aswell get a bath with a bottle of gin and a razor blade, as there wouldn’t be much point

    Harper
    Raylor Campbell Taylor Ferguson
    Barton Nolan Tiote Jonas
    Ranger Kuqi?

And do what? get absolutely d*cked i’d rather not thanks. lets win a game and make us safe

  33. We’ve just been shat on from a great height. From a club further up the football food chain, as Toonsy calls it. But it feels like said club wasn’t a lion or a shark, they are a mongoose or an albetross or something. We’ve been shat on by an Albetross. Why do we have half a great team and half a ***** team. When Enrique goes and/or Tiote we will be even worse.

      (Quote)

  34. DJG- get a grip man, we drew and beat Arsenal, does that mean we’re better than them? no, but we play badly and get beat by Liverpool and we have a “half a ***** team”, it’s all about performanes, today we played poorly, but we’re not a bad team

      (Quote)

  35. thats as poor and demoralising a performance ive seen since the relegation season! looked like nobody gave a ****, yet pardew still wont give other players a start! i totally agree with stuart, in that lovenkrands offers nothing! he doesnt have pace, vision or skill. his 2nd touch is nearly always trying to win the ball back! and then when ameobi is havin his usual lazy shocker type performace, we truly are impotent up top! annoys me the praise they have received from pardew

      (Quote)

  36. @toonsy
Myself and Stu ram our views down your throats every other post and it’s boring and tedius.
How do you think we feel reading all the bloggers views which are equally tedius and boring but in greater quantities.
I will continue to provide yous all with a reality check cos that’s what you need.

      (Quote)

  37. How many errors has Williamson made this season? Not many. I actually think he felt pressured to try and play it like Collo and Enrique do instead of just putting it out and I feel sorry for the guy, he’s still twice the player of Taylor in my eyes.

We are an absolute mess, sort it before Birmingham please Pardew. The players have the fight, that is fine, we are lacking the intellegence to play these teams. Liverpool were **** today, no way should they have beaten us 3-0 like that.

      (Quote)

  38. Good News though for my the other club i support.

getting closer to the scudetto soon.

      (Quote)

  39. buddy

He doesn’t have a 2nd touch. His 1st touch makes sure of that.

Ashley these strikers are ****. Sort it out please.

  40. Big D@266…great suggestion, but I would swop the razor blade for my toon Champions League DVD….would be a splendid evening imo 😆 😆

Missed the second half unfortunately, but obviously it was a bit of a horror show judging by some of the comments on here 😥

      (Quote)

  41. buddy @ 272. Are you criticising a manager for supporting his players? 😯

      (Quote)

  42. Bobby – What have we discussed about you telling me or anyone what they need?

You may want to rethink statement that or you might be sending me yet another e mail…..

  43. Toonsy@265….9 hits for the Liverpool game, must be some kind of record ? 😯 😯

  44. Jobey

We are safe, The bottom lot arent going to win all of their remaining games and then there are more sides between us and the bottom 3.

I forgot about Coloccini and Simpson who i wouldnt drop but Enrique is taking the **** and the front pair have contibuted **** again…

      (Quote)

  45. Toonsy….do you need to get a certain amount of hits to stay on newsnow?

      (Quote)

  46. It wasn’t a terrible performance, just lacking cutting edge, skill and movement in attack and creativity in the final third. And some awful defending for the goals, esp Williamson, imho.

Could have done with some bite and passion in the tackling department as well.

      (Quote)

  47. Newcastle, Middlesborough and Sunderland, what a joke North East football is, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. 😈

      (Quote)

  48. I’ll be happy when we are mathematically safe 🙄

A turbulent first season back, but I’m sure West Ham, Wolves, Wigan and Blackpool would gladly trade places with us….

      (Quote)

  49. DJG
Williamson is a good honest pro. That is it.
He is a better player when he doesn’t have the ball than when he has it. You just know a mistake is waiting to happen. Not as often as Titus but its written all over him.
Opposition at st james just allow him posession of the ball cause he hasn’t got a scooby doo what to do with it.

  50. what a season for robinho in Milan…

is true, brazilian are great in italian league.

    espcially in Milan team.

  53. Ya could see Kenny thinking ‘what a joke, I feked them right up’ and all the other sweaty socks like Hansen and their coach sitting lapping it up. Carroll jumping into bed with them for EVEN MORE money. Makes ya sick.

  54. @Munich Mag: 😎

Newcastle still my 1st choice supporting club. 😉

Expected a lost against Liverpool, they just need to win against Birmingham next game,we should be more than safe. 😀

      (Quote)

  55. bris,
no im not criticising him for supporting the players! but it really really worries me that he continues to praise lovenkrands and ameobi, ahead of many of our other players! i am extremely worries that he will use it as an excuse when we haven’t bolstered our strikeforce come september! ranger could not do any worse than those two, i know that he has yet to score but he hasnt had a decent run in the team

      (Quote)

  56. @Jobey07: you can call me a fickle minded fan,or a crazy fan…

But for every league i watched, there is 1 particular club i supporting. 😳

Newcastle still remains the top choice though.
