Newcastle 3-3 West Brom – Video highlights.

Please find featured some goal highlights from the 3-3 draw with West Brom yesterday. Be warned though, some of it doesn’t make for pretty viewing.

In a way that only Newcastle can, they let slip a three goal lead which saw us drop from the heady heights of 9th position to the more sterile position of 12th in the table. In fairness it’s not that which bothers me as I would have taken 12th at the start of the campaign, but it’s hard not to be disappointed after your team have lost a three goal lead.

I know how Arsenal felt now!

  1. Absolutely gutted we drop below the mackems. A summer of **** taking from them.

Do you think it could be intentional ? I mean, it’s no mean feat to attain improvement year on year. To have finished 9th puts more pressure on us than if we finished 12th. I don’t think that’s the case but there will be some conspiracy theorists out there.

On the positive side, it means Ashley has to look to strengthen the squad even more, as the young guns blew it.

  2. Good Morning Toonsy and fellow bloggers!
Been following this blog (and the ‘other’ blog) for a long time but never had the balls to post.
Think it’s a crackin blog with good views and discussions from all who post on here.
I think whist yesterday’s result was disappointing I would of took 12th at the beginning of the season for sure, just the unwashed celebrating like they’ve won the FA cup is a bitter pill to swallow. Anyway onwards and upwards to an exciting new season and keep up the good work, much appreciated over here.
p.s. was following the debacle on the ‘other blog’ last night …….bitter comes to mind to say the least 😯 😯

  3. geordieqatar – Nee bother mate, and don’t ever feel hat you need balls to post on here, or anywhere. It’s what these places are here for 🙂

I agree about 12th. I’m not too unhappy about that to be honest. For me it’s the losing the three goal lead that is boiling my ****! 😡

  4. off topic like but felt heart-felt sorry for Blackpool and Holloway yesterday. The toon game wasn’t on any of the channels or streams that I could find so ended up watchin the manure game, when Owen scored me & the Mrs screamed a few expletives 😈 👿

      (Quote)

  5. Poor defending at times yesterday…but all in all a good finish to a turbulent season.

Now we get to see the true intentions of our owner, and the pulling power of Pardew…time will show which players we can bring in, and how many of our backbone remain..

      (Quote)

  6. GQ – Aye it was sad to see Owen picking up a dinner medal yesterday. They hand em out to anyone these days 😆

That ******* could slip in **** and fall on his feet 👿

      (Quote)

  7. how funny would it be if he ended up at the unwashed next season eh?? 😯 😛
would just add that little bit more of an atmosphere to our favorite game

  8. Thing is, that is exactly the kind of wow signing that they’d love. He’d be the best thing ever on Wearside 😆

They may have finished above us this season, but only by a point. They need eight or nine players over the summer, and half of those will be to just replace what they are going to lose in terms of loan players/making loan moves permanent.

They have a wagebill that is eating up virtually all of their income so have very little room to expand in that direction either. Excellent 😀

      (Quote)

  9. Being realistic, we achieved our goal whilst theirs was never to scrape above us by a point, 4 wins in 14 is sackable at any other club so Bruce would be best advised to wind his neck in.
As for yesterday, Simpson has got to go, he was terrible again, a defender should never turn his back on the ball and he does regularly and there is a yawning space on his side which he never commands.

I may have had a meltdown.

  13. This criticism of Simpson is starting to grate on me to be honest. I mean yes, he cocked up, fair enough, but so did Colo and Jose yesterday, and both of their **** ups cost goals yet they are being vilified for it. Why?

Colo turned his back on Tchoyi for the second which allowed hi to knock it right and get the shot on goal.

Jose got diddled by Miller and the whole defence left Tchoyi unmarked at the far post for the equaliser,

      (Quote)

  14. A worry for me yesterday was the absence of Jonas. Has any explanation been heard. He missed the game because of a thigh strain. Perch received his player of the month trophy on his behalf. I didn’t see him at the walkaboout but Nolan on crutches and a limping Harper all made a show. Where was Jonas? A thigh strain doesn’t stop you I mean he was behind the tills on Thursday

      (Quote)

Whether it is all Simpson’s fault or not we are weakest at that side of the pitch and next season teams will exploit it more and more. Let us agree the right side of the defence needs strengthened.

      (Quote)

  16. Toonsy, when was the last time Simpson had a good game? Yes all of the other 3 defenders are guilty of mistakes but at least they can balance it with some good shows.

      (Quote)

  17. Look I’m not saying that Simpson is the greatest, but he isn’t as bad as some are making out. Remember when he first cam back from injury? Remember the pick up in results? Yes we can improve there, but in my opinion Simpson can also improve. He is young enough to do so.

      (Quote)

  18. “the whole defence left Tchoti unmarked for the equaliser”

True – not only that but there were two WBA players behind him unmarked as well! Total collapse.

  19. where was Taylor and smith – in fact I didn’t see touch smith touch the ball although I’m sure I saw him come onto the pitch

  20. will yous all stop moaning man , weve finished 12th!!! our target was to finish above 17th and we have done it!! expectations again are far to high with the squad that we have got!! we were playing guthrie smith lua lua and ameobi at 1 point man what do you expect , they arent prem players!! 12th is brilliant , another season in the prem!!! HWTL

  21. Pardew must accept a large portion of liability for yesterday’s fiasco. 👿
Why change a team when it is 3 up ❓

Surely you make changes to alter the pattern of the game i.e. if we were 3 down and chasing the game I could understand.

With 30 minutes to go the game became a bloody testimonial match with fans chanting for players to wave to the crowd etc.

Why the hell was Smith brought on ❓ He offers absolutely nothing 👿

toonsy as you can have a go at Raylor then I will reserve my right to have a go at Simpson who has been awful of late. He does not do the fundemental’s i.e. tackle and prevent crosses coming in. Instead he hesitates and backs off without making a challange, he also allows wingers to cut in on their stronger foot.
I am not foolish enough to blame Simpson wholly for yesterdays performance 👿

      (Quote)

  22. I actually think Raylor played alright again yesterday 😳

On Pardew, is not when a team is comfortable and numerous goals ahead that changes are made? How many times have we heard “lets not play the kids unless we are well clear”?

3-0 up is well clear and many managers would have made the changes. They backfired but, they also backfire for a lot of managers.

Hey ho, next season awaits 🙂

      (Quote)

  23. Hang on a minute. How many posts did I read on here before the match saying lets get 2 or 3 up and bring the kids on. Can’t blame Pardew for doing what was asked. He’ll have seen the weakness of those who failed him, and hopefully replace them.

      (Quote)

  24. Premandup – Absolutely agree.

TGS – Nope. Flying solo today mate. I am coach commander. Bricking it a bit in fairness 😕 Watch out Manchester 😆

    He’s a feckin old crock of shyte 😆 😆

  26. FINALLY SEASON ENDED!! 😳

though it ended in such typical way. 🙄

Yesterday performance was great to a extent,i give the benefits of doubts that the players simply are mentally tired, and physically too.hence the scorelien.

Simpson was obviously not at his usual performance.

Surprisedly, only 3 starting players are worth mentioning, steven taylor goal line clearances,Alan Smith did well, though u need to know,no one wants to pass that ball to him.

And guthrie is back to his norm.

      (Quote)

  27. Some unnecessary pointing going on here. Yes, it was a frustrating collapse, but perhaps those always shouting for kids to be given a chance now understand why that’s not always a good idea. Not that anyone would have guessed we’d lose a 3-goal lead, so it’s hard to have too much of a crack at AP.

For what it’s worth, I didn’t think Simpson did anything like as badly as some are saying – of course he’s not as good as Jose. How many full-backs are?? And Smith did ok. Deal with it.

MOTM for me was as for the club – Saylor was on fire. 3 in 3 for a CB has to be some kind of record, doesn’t it? And defensively he provided the ‘guts and glory’ balance to the elegance and technique stuff that Colo continues to provide so well.

Utterly gutted to have missed out, like everyone else. But can we just shelve the player-slagging now??

Excellent season – really exciting, with so many highs to balance out the lows and then some. Best of all, it leaves us in a really positive and fascinating situation moving forward. When CH was replaced with AP and when January went so wrong I’d have bitten your hand off if you’d offered me what we’ve now got.

Well done club and team – great job. Let’s not let 20 minutes of poor defending stop us recognising that.

  29. Think everyone needs a dose of reality!

We gave a three goal lead away in a meaningless end of season game.

Funny how when we come back from 4 down to draw we’re brilliant, but when the reverse happens to us, we don’t give WBA any credit.

Get over it and look forward to next season.

As for the performance, I thought S Taylor had another cracking game – not just hos goal either. He cleared two off the line and led the defence well when all around him were on their holidays.

Taylor is slowly making idiots of certain undividuals on here wouldn’t know a good player if they hit them round the face with a old salmon fillet!

12th place finish, newly promoted and hopefully a summer of excitment and new signings.

Get a life and get realistic!

  30. Stu – it’s taken a whole season, but I totally, wholeheartedly agree with you! Well said, man!

  31. Gutted for Blackpool. Will miss them – although not miss losing to them. Not too bothered about Brum or Wham, but at half time it was looking like Wigan instead of the tangerines, which would have been nice.

And yes, I think you have to give credit to the baggies; they never gave right to the final whistle. Not an easy thing to do in those circumstances.

Toonsy – are you going to keep a log of posters’ predictions for our final position next season? Perhaps collect them now, then at the end of the window? Should make for a great article in a year’s time…

  35. Agreed Stu, I seem to be doing that more and more at the mo! Liking that your negative realism is now positive realism… Maybe that just means things are actually getting better and you’ve just been right all along?

Steven Taylor has looked a different player recently, gutted for him that the season’s ending when it is, but he’ll be hungry to start every game next season. Taylor and Colo at CB will be very decent next year, with Williamson and Kadar as third and fourth choice, I think we’re nicely stocked there. Can invest the money elsewhere. Toonsy whilst I agree with you about Simpson being young and improving with time, I wouldn’t actually be averse to seeing another RB bought in for 4-5 mil (if the money’s left over) to add competition, as I think he played so well when he came in as he was fighting to take his place back off Perch. Apparently this mystery signing is Victor Wanyama – 19 year old Kenyan who plays in Belgium and has been one of the players of the season over there. Plays in Tiote’s role, sounds like another Carr special to me!

  37. Hi there fellow muppets.

    I agree with Stuart @ 41.

Really disappointing night tho. Game wasn’t on telly here and the internet link I had was sh!te. And then there was that little matter of losing a 3 goal lead.

On another topic … I made the top 150 in the NUFCblog.org fantasy football league (that was organised by you, Toonsy, wasn’t it?) after spending most of the season below the 200 mark.

      (Quote)

  38. I understand why the fans at SJP were gutted yesterday, but I feel awful that the team were denied a well-deserved end-of-season ovation. The boos were embarrassing, and may just help the likes of Jose and others out of the door.

There’s a responsibility that comes with that ticket, and I think a lot of fans blew it yesterday. Sorry to rant, but having the right to express and opinion doesn’t excuse damaging the club by exercising that right.

There ya go – something to argue about! 😈

      (Quote)

  39. I wonder if you have all noticed this aswell, ashley selling the new home shirt in his sports direct stores for £15 less then advertised on the offical newcastle website. Thereby pricing newcastle out fo the market, yet another cynical move by ashley to put more money in his pocket and less in the club’s.

      (Quote)

  40. I finished 56 in the fantasy, dropped about 14 places on the last game 🙁 I put Taylor in for Luiz, which looked like a masterstroke, but we lost the clean-sheet and they had the NERVE not to give him any bonus points! Ridiculous!

Ha, I popped over to .org yesterday to see what all the fuss was about and it was a bleak, bleak experience. Worky using the stats that Toonsy accrued to argue that his blog was better! To be frank, I have never witnessed anything so pathetic. Apart from his ritual ignoring of Dave asking why he saw fit to steal money from everyone. If you’re gonna ignore a point like that, don’t say anything. Don’t continue to post in different, petty arguments, whilst brazenly avoiding an obvious and direct question. He couldn’t have looked more guilty if he tried!

      (Quote)

  41. Anyone else feel rather alarmed that we just sent our players off on their summer holidays by booing them? It’s only just occurred to me, but it may be a big issue…

      (Quote)

  42. DevonMag, I think you’ll find no money was ‘stolen’. Donations were made in order to keep .org running and that’s what the money was spent on.

      (Quote)

  43. Whumpie I must admit I was a little disappointed when I heard it, but my gut-reaction was similar to the fans at SJP, I was p*ssed right off. But to be fair, the players weren’t booed off the pitch, it was just the frustration being let out at the final whistle. The boos stopped and from what I gather the lap of honour was an entirely amicable process. Don’t think it’s anything to worry about, the players know what happened and so do the fans, everyone will move on. I think Jose will leave regardless, but the rest of the players know that we could be in for bigger and better things by the end of the summer… hopefully…

      (Quote)

  44. Apologies Hugh, I’m just going on what several people have told me on here – people I have no reason to distrust, who backed the argument up fairly reasonably. Worky’s marked ignoring of Dave seemed to be the actions of a very, very guilty man.

      (Quote)

  45. Okay DevonMag, your choice.

I think what some people are getting at is that Worky spent some of the donations money on fixing his own personal PC and feel it should have been spent directly on the site.

That’s my fault. I recommended that Worky spend it on his PC because without the owner/founder having a working PC the blog would have had no future. Perhaps my interpretation of ‘donations to ensure the survival and enhancement of .org’ were wider than most other peoples.

There was no intent to mislead but if that did happen then I apologise.

      (Quote)

  46. Whumpie, there were a few boos but I stayed until they came back out and it was great.

Nolan on his crutches with his two kids and Barton trying to keep them under control 😆

      (Quote)

  47. hmm… well I don’t want to get into a debate about this as you sound like you’ve heard enough on the subject, but I can (kind of) see both sides of the argument… although spending money to fix his computer, whilst related to .org, does seem a bit cheeky. Perhaps he should have asked everyone who donated what they thought of it first. As lets be honest, .org isn’t the only thing he’ll ever use his computer for. I still think he owed Dave, who was asking him in a pretty reasonable manner, an answer of some kind.

      (Quote)

  48. Hugh I simply asked Worky did he think so little of us when he asked us for donations, but he wouldn’t answer and decided to try to abuse me for asking the question.
I thought it would be easier and less hassle to just answer the question

      (Quote)

  49. DevonMag, okay, but it’s me that should take the heat for what the money was spent on because I passed on that advice.

Although personally I think that’s irrelevant anyway. It’s simply a bullet in a battle of blog one-upmanship and if it wasn’t that it would be something else.

Silly really as these are ‘hobby blogs’, not multi-billion pound commercial empires and there’s plenty room for everyone.

Anyway, not keen on an argument just now. I just wanted to straighten out some things that may have been lost in the ever-increasing vitriol.

I sometimes think peace in the Middle East would be an easier prospect!

I shall leave you and Toonsy’s blog alone now. Enjoy the summer signings at the Toon and whatnot (hopefully).

  50. fair play mate, sorry to cause any headache, by the sounds of it you shouldn’t be feeling guilty. Still though, we can agree to disagree on certain matters. Good luck with your blog! And likewise on the transfer-front, it’s certainly in our common interests that it’s good anyway! 😉

Their a thick skinned bunch, Whumpie.

I imagine they’ll probably have already forgotten the response and probably feel like they deserved it to be honest. Although they didn’t.

If they haven’t forgotten now, they will surely forget by the time they down their first tequilla!

I don’t think footballers dwell on such things. I’m sure they replay in their heads moments that either bolster the ego or question it. I know I did in my limited career. But I doubt whether they agonise over a few cat calls.

  53. I hope you’re right, guys. Sounds like it was better than I’d thought, which is a relief.

I think we’ll quickly replace the disappointment with optimism… and then of course the frustration with a lack of progress in the window!

SNAFU. But hopefully the end result will be good.

Bit worried that AP’s obviously given in on even re-signing players until after hols; more time for those scumbag agents to work their poison.

  54. Brisvegas – don’t for a moment think that income has any bearing on human nature. If anything, the higher the level of sportsman you’re dealing with, the more they care about this kind of thing.

I find that when money’s not a worry, people tend to just elevate the importance of other things. It’s why you get so many prima-donna types in sports and arts. If they had to think about paying their bills they’d get a lot less bothered about things like being called ‘Insomnia’ on national TV. 😆 (Still a classic.)

Still – it’s done now. I’ll move on. Honest.
