Some summer dates for your diary.

Yes, I'm aware it's out of date!
There isn’t that much going on at NUFC at the moment to be honest. Not that we can see anyway.

Sure there is plenty of speculation flying around at the moment, but that is all it is – just speculation. What we need, well what I need anyway, is something to look forward to, something to get my teeth into, something visible. So with a bit of research I’ve managed to come up with this handy little diary of dates that are kind of important to us over the summer.

The transfer window is open now. It opened yesterday in fact on the 1st June which is contrary to reports of dates ranging from 6th-9th June being the date that international transfers can begin. What is holding things up on the transfer front is the latest round of international matches which has lead to the confusion over transfer dates.

We’ve got a couple of weeks until we find out we’ll be playing Manchester United/Arsenal/Chelsea etc on the opening day of the season when the fixture list is announced. As a rule of thumb it’s usually announced in the third week of June and is usually around the 16th-17th although that will be clarified closer to the time no doubt.

Pre-season training begins again on July 4th where hopefully we’ll have a handful of new signings joining up with the squad to compliment the payers that we already have at our disposal. After a few days training it will be back to footballing action as the pre-season fixtures come into effect. For your convenience the fixtures are as follows:

Friday 15th July – Darlington (a).
Wednesday 20th July – Kansas City (a).
Saturday 23rd July – Orlando City (a).
Tuesday 26th July – Columbus Crew (a).
Sunday 31st July – Leeds (a).

As and when dates become official/more dates are available I will of course update you all. To make it easily accessable for everyone I’ll add these dates to the sidebar to the right of this article seeing as I have space now that we have no match tickets for sale.

Hopefully this article, whilst not being “newsy”, will clear up some confusion and answer some questions that will no doubt get asked in the coming weeks.

  1. tell you what, fair play to the club for getting Ben Arfa to drop champions league football, and then drop his wage by over half to come here.

If its true I guess money doesn’t matter 😀
