Don’t forget to enter our competition!

The 5-1! Live it again on DVD.
I just thought that I’d pen this quick article to remind everyone that we are currently running a competition here on NUFC Blog.

The prize? Well it’s nothing fancy really, but I am giving away a copy of the Newcastle United 2010/2011 Premier League season review DVD so you can relive such games as the 6-0 victory over Aston Villa, the 5-1 demolition of our derby rivals Sunderland and the amazing, history making, 4-4 draw with Arsenal – the greatest comeback in Premier League history.

So what do you have to do to win this DVD? Simple. Just have a guess at who you think we’ll play on the first game of the season. That’s it.

To enter just put your site username in the subject line with your guess in the main body of the e-mail, then send your answer to [email protected]. You must be registered with the site for your entry to be valid so if you’re not already signed up to the site please make sure you do so. It’s pretty straight-forward.

The competition will close at 23:59 on Thursday, 16th June, 2011. Entries not registered by then will not be counted. For more competition rules click here.

Now to clarify a question that was asked after the competition was launched. It was asked whether postage would be covered to far flung places around the globe. I can confirm that this is the case so the competition is open to everyone, regardless of where on the planet you are residing. Just make sure you have a postal address!

Good luck.

  1. Exactly 😉

It;s more of a practice run for the big competitions coming up to be fair 😉

  2. Just had a look at the entrants……. There are quite a few clubs that have no guesses yet. Also some of them have over ten already. Not naming names though as that would give the game away 😉

  3. I’ll snap it in two and send you an equal share 😆

No, it will be a tiebeaker question to be honest, and there will be a deadline to respond to the email 😉

  4. Totally off topic, but..

Was reading through a few blogs earlier and noticed Ashley was getting some stick, (as usual) about how he sells our best players for profit.
I’ve whacked together a list of the major transfer dealings since Ashley took charge, its quite interesting like.. and more than likely wildly inaccurate.

I’ve worked it out that we’re currently in profit (23.6m) if you take into account all of the transfers since Ashleys takeover.
As for our “best players” being sold for profit, I’d put in N’Zogbia, Milner, Given and Carroll. All of whom requested a transfer.
Other notable players who left for cash are Bassong and Martins, both of whom wouldn’t have played Championship football.

  5. The closing date is 16/6/11.

The fixtures are being published early this year on the 15/6/11.

Pointless entering now. Might as well wait for the fixtures to be published and guaranteed to be right!

  6. Fixtures have been confirmed by the Premier League as the 17th – the same date as always.

Any change and I will discount entries made after the release of the fixtures 😉

That’s a cracking bit of info.

Interesting that he’s in profit on transfers by £23.6m.

2 ways of looking at it.
    Good business and well done.
    Or
Good business, well done but if he had speculated a bit we might have finished in a Euro spot.

We’ll see this summer though. This is his big chance to redeem his past misdemeanours. 😐

  10. Toonsy,

Take into account though thats including the 35m Carroll money, which we’ve not yet had the opportunity to spend, and if some of these rumours come to fruition, we could even end up in a negative!

I do think that this is Ashleys first real chance of spending in windows, with a manager of his choice and no turmoil going on.. He’s always said the season after safety and we’ll spend a bit of cash. As you say, this is his big chance to put things right, though even if he does well this window… will it be enough to win around some of his detractors?

At this rate, with all the TV revenue, merchandise revenue and all other income, he must be well on the way of recovering his money.

Howdy Howdy. I would like to introduce myself. This blog is fantastic and full of positive people. In fact, a little bit too positive but that’s where I come in to bring a more balanced view.
    I’m as negative as f@£&.

I’m sure with a bit of time we will lock horns but it’s nothing personal.

    Great blog tho.
