Well done Charles N’Zogbia!

Warm words from Charlie.
It’s emerged that Yohan Cabaye was advised to join Newcastle by another Toon transfer target – and former Magpie to boot – Charles N’Zogbia.

Cabaye confirmed his long awaited move to the North East yesterday for a fee said to be around the £4.5 million mark after NUFC activated a release clause in his contract that allowed the French international the right to talk to a club if they met the fee. It’s a canny ploy that has resulted in Newcastle gaining an international midfielder for around half of his speculated value. More of the same please.

Of course it’s easy to say that Alan Pardew and Co have done a good job in this scenario, but they won’t have been the only factors at play. Newcastle have the money, and they can pay far higher wages than what players pick up in France, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that a player will still opt to join us. Look at Kevin Gameiro for proof of this.

On this occasion we’ve unintentionally enlisted the help of Charles N’Zogbia to help push the deal over the line. It appears that he has been selling the club to Cabaye which convinced the 25-year-old to switch from the North-East of France to the North-East of England.

“I spoke to Charles N’Zogbia and David Rozehnal before joining Newcastle,” said Cabaye in one of his many post-transfer media interviews. “They both said it was a good choice to come to Newcastle. They said I would have a great time, especially with the fans.”

He continued: “And those fans appear special. Before signing for Newcastle, I watched some videos on the internet, and particularly the game against Sunderland when Newcastle won 5-1. I could see there was a great atmosphere in the stadium, and I really want to see what it’s like to play at St James’ Park and in the Premier League.”

Before concluding: “I’m very excited about playing at St James’ Park, now I hope I can adapt quickly to the Premier League.”

So well done to Charles N’Zogbia and David Rozehnal for putting in a good word for us. I’d like to do the same in return for Rozehnal but I can’t because he was pap when he was with us, but Charlie boy is a different matter.

Players talk, obviously, and if we are getting good words said about us then it’s only ever going to be a good thing in my opinion. N’Zogbia didn’t have to say anything good about us, in fact he could have been very bitter about us as he owes us nothing. He doesn’t play for us any more so what would he have to lose? Nothing.

Perhaps it is true that he fancies a return to Tyneside? Who knows? There has been speculation…..

Maybe Cabaye can put a word in with Pardew and we can see a return of the Zog?

  3. Thought Rozehnal was a decent pro – I think “pap” is unfair.

But Saylor’s pap – so maybe you can use the word in another article?! 😆 .

  4. BATTY aye he could go there too, think daglish looks to see who other clubs are after then steps in he hasnt got a clue,as his past buys at toon showed

  5. I think we could get N’Zogbia, he fancies a move back just by looking at what he’s been saying on twitter. Having Cabaye and Ben Arfa here will only help persude him to come back as well. 😉

  11. That’s how to do overtime, have a dump getting paid time and a half, clock out afterwards 😉

  12. We should get rid of Jonas (pap, heedless chicken, no assists, daft hair) and get zog (quick, dribbler, knows which way to run etc)quick before cesspool and spuds cast their beady eyes over him. cant understand why we havent moved on him yet unless dzudsak/wijnaldum or barnetta have been shortlisted.

  14. Whats this I’m reading about Lua Lua wanting a move to Brighton.I thought part of the master plan was to develop the young players.Pardwho better get his act together and let these lads know they have a chance of a place with hard work

  15. I think people are making way too much out of those quotes from lualua. He still seems focused on proving himself here at NUFC. Though a half season loan could be great for him

  16. And before people slag off Jonas anymore, think about what he’ll be able to do with these players around him AND on his natural side. So fickle some of us

  17. Senior @ 26,
Bit harsh on Jonas, he played in nearly every game for us last year, held the ball up well and got many a free kick, plus his hair is quality!! I do agree his final ball can be very poor but he puts in 100% effort every game

      (Quote)

  18. Thats all people can say about Jonas, he gets us free kicks…For a Premier League winger getting free kicks isnt good enough. We need better than Jonas if we want to improve 😈

  19. I still say Jonas has earned a go in his favoured position on the right. He was superb at the back end of last season and was a revelation at Chelsea ‘in the hole’ 😆

Too often we play square pegs in round holes at Newcastle then get on their back when they don’t perform. Both things need to stop ideally .

  20. Games when Jonas was missing through injury or whatever, we were ****-tastic. He does way more than get us free kicks–he keeps possession and stretches defenses, which panic when he runs at/through them. He’s far from perfect, but we were a much, much worse team without him in the times he was missing.

  21. To be fair, I’ve often been on Jonas’ list of critics, but he’s much more useful than just a free kick generator. I’d like to see him fling a few more crosses and take some shots too, but he’s been an important player for us.

  22. Jonas needs to stay, may even be better if Enrique goes cos he should be on the right.
Fergy on the left, Jonas on the right, Cabaye, Benny and tiote in the middle behind ………………Shola…Doh!!!!!! 😳

  23. Hasn’t N’Zogbia only got a year left on his contract anyway? Just run it doon and come here next season on big wages. 🙂
