United For Newcastle, but against the fans?

United For Newcastle's damning endictment of you lot!
Well well well, guess who has been slagging some of you lot off? Not just once, but twice in recent weeks.

Apparently some of your comments aren’t the taste of United For Newcastle and reading them lowers your IQ. That is the view of one of the co-founders of the group, who look to have blown any chance they have of engaging with the board again at Newcastle for good and now spend their time pimping links on Facebook instead.

Funny though really as we’ve done a lot for United For Newcastle and I really felt that they were on the right track with regard to getting some level of communication restored, so I can’t understand the resentment they have towards this site and, it seems, the posters, or you guys, the fans they are supposed to represent.

I personally wrote two articles earlier on in the year detailing their achievements and interviews that they had managed to gleam from a rather, let’s face it, poor board when it comes to communication. Moreno then wrote a piece after he felt aggrieved about them deleting his comments on Facebook as they weren’t to their liking. As most of you are aware, we have a team of writers and we all have our own views. This is not a hard concept to understand.

The first little bite came when I challenged Steve Wraith about his wage cap philosophy. Fair play to Steve, he took it well and in the spirit in which it was intended. In fact he even used it as an article on his own site and we joked about it afterwards. This then prompted said co-founder, that I won’t mention the name of but can be followed on Twitter @KTD89, to say that all we do is moan. Yes, one article out of over 600, and all we do is moan 🙄

I’ve just noticed another comment today, from the same said co-founder, based in Essex, that can be followed @KTD89, about the level of intelligence of you guys. Shocking really, especially when I know that a lot of you follow them. In response to someone saying about reading the comments at the bottom of articles in Sky Sports “lowering your intelligence”, said co-founder replied with “You want to see some of the comments on www.nufcblog.co.uk”.

A few days before this though they happened to contact us again and asked if we wanted some publicity. Now you know yourselves how busy this place is getting and quite frankly for a place that is only what, seven months old, it’s stupidly busy, especially now we are on the Newsnow Publisher Network. I declined this “opportunity” of publicity for that reason. Funny then that three days later they were slagging us all off.

So who really needed the publicity after all?

Now I’m not interested in a war of words with them as, quite frankly, it’s boring and I’ll probably win, but what I don’t like is people having a go at my site or the people that use it. I mean we are all NUFC fans after all, and we all have differences of opinion, so what gives them the right to get on at some of you – the people they are supposed to represent – behind your backs?

Unless of course you agree with their every word, in which case you’re OK!

  1. Weird. My initial rage has subsided and I’m left wondering if I should have published this or not 😕

Too late now like, but still…..

  2. Haha. Glad you did mate! It’s only fair on our bloggers that the co-founder of a certain supporters group thinks some of their comments lower his IQ!

You really need to be more intellectual people…. 😉

      (Quote)

  3. True I guess. I mean I guess it’s in the interests of the patrons of this blog to hear how little a co-founder of a certain supporter group feels about the people they are representing, some of who had nothing but kind words to say about said organisation at the start 😉

  4. At the end of the day Toonsy, if people are going to attack the blog, unprovoked for no reason, then you are within your right to stick up for the bloggers who come on here

  5. lower there IQ didnt know you could get below 30 without a vist from the men in white coats, well there you go theres always one gets away 😉

  6. That’s why they’ll achieve **** all, they’re out to represent themselves and no one else, if Llamsarse had tw@ttered those comments they’d be the first ones kicking up a fuss and running to the press about it. Fecking pr!cks……sorry if this comment isn’t intelligent enough 🙄

      (Quote)

  7. Who cares just another self important bunch who are determined to get their names in lights, Like anyone takes these lot seriously after wraiths carrying on… 🙄

      (Quote)

  8. I upset them with my article Rich, but in the article I said they were my own views and no one else’s but it seems he is trying to discredit the blog and everyone associated with it…. 🙄

Pathetic really that the same people think they can represent the fans on a whole, they are just kids dreaming by the sounds of it

  9. Hehe. Toonsy losing his rag again

Toonsy- Done an article, put it up, not sure if the youtube link has embedded, have a look at it? 🙂

  10. Moreno….exactly mate, they represent the sum total of diddley squat 👿

Ice….it’s bound to happen, what with my lack of intelligence and everything 😉

  11. Inter-group bickering in public’s not a clever move.
Anyone heard the phrase divide and rule?
C’mon guys, discuss differences in private eh?

      (Quote)

  12. This was another group that started out with good intentions with a real chance of representing the fans, but yet again have turned on the very fans that they were wanting to represent. Sad really they need to set their own egos aside

      (Quote)

  13. lesh,

I agree with that to an extent.

But at the same time, we are big enough to say it out in public and discuss it, rather than go sniping on the sly.

This isn’t ‘blog wars’ This is an NUFC fans and supporters group who this blog supported, who is slagging off it’s bloggers and newcastle fans.

From the point of view of Toonsy, myself and other’s who do a bit, we do a lot behind the scenes like promotion, spam filtering, moderation etc which some may not take into account and to have someone attacking you who is in such a prominant position (being co-founder of a supporters group) does get at you a bit, as he should know how hard it is to build up a successful network.

      (Quote)

  14. Lads, do you think I should ask them if I could be their president? 😆

      (Quote)

  15. Can’t we have a decent supporters group to represent the fans and feelings and get some of their wishes fulfilled??It seems to me that almost all organisations start off promisingly and then go boom almost without any provocation..How about all blog owners and the guys from nufc.com get together and make a group and represent the fans…???Just a suggestion mind..

      (Quote)

  16. So yet another so called fans organisation turns on the fans themselves. Funny how a wee bit of perceived power goes to some peoples heads

      (Quote)

  17. Thing is deepak there’s so many fans with differing views that you’ll never have a supporters group that represents everyone…

      (Quote)

  18. Lesh – I agree to an extent, but it wasn’t exactly kept private when it occurred in the first place as this on particular person in an equally prominent position slagged us off on a public micro-blogging service, such as Twitter.

Now sorry, but if someone is going to muddy the name of this site and the thousands who have posted comments since it’s inception in public, then I think I have every right to a reply.

      (Quote)

  19. Witters – Indeed. And that is why fan ownership would never work at Newcastle. You only have to look at many disagree on one blog, or serious of blog/sites/forums to work that one out. Nothing would ever get done as everyone would be against someone elses idea,

      (Quote)

  20. witters,

You only have to be around you and Bobby together for more than 20 seconds to know it wouldn’t work! 😉 😆

  21. Hi there

I have only just started using this site and find the comments on here a lot less negative than those on http://www.nufcblog.com where a lot of the users seem to just go on there to argue with each other.

I also prefer the articles on here to other said site.

    Well done

    I’ll be back

      (Quote)

  22. Toonsy…agreed.

I always smile to myself when ‘fans should own the club’ posts comments, not because of his comments but the unworkable nature of the concept…

A few big(ish) words thrown for good measure as well…

      (Quote)

  23. I think the quality of comments here has improved a lot since Batty discovered free porn sites. Some of the comments on .com are borderline retarded but hey they are fans too and perhaps some of them are actually learning disabled.

      (Quote)

  24. Witters – Could you break those large words down into more comprehensible, bitesize pieces so us thicko’s can understand please? 🙂

Nah I know what you mean. It’s an unrealistic ideal. Where has it worked? Barcelona? I would imagine that it’s pretty easy making decisions when you can only go one way – down.

      (Quote)

  25. Moreno… 😉

In my defence, I haven’t been banned nor I have had to grovel for my access back but I fo like my conversations with Bobby

      (Quote)

  26. This comment from them

“If he doesn’t spend the money that desperately needs to be spent – we (and hopefully our followers) will be ready to take action.””

Says it all for me really.

      (Quote)

  27. Toonsy @ some number or other

Barcelona still have a board, massive debts & apart from letting them vote for the president I suspect this fan ownership is token at best…

      (Quote)

  28. United for Newcastle – probably started by the mackems to generate bad publicity for the club.

That’s all they seem to be doing these days anyway.

      (Quote)

  29. What action is that Moreno?

I know…let’s create a cockney mafia banner & get ourselves in the papers & on SSN and ultimately achieve nothing?

      (Quote)

  30. Hey toonsy, i read your article three times and still dont grasp what you are saying… is some one slaggin you and the site down? whats his name… i can have his legs broke for 500 quid mate.

      (Quote)

  31. Craig – Nah 😆

Basically there is a fan group called United For Newcastle. You may not have heard of them, but I did a couple of articles for them a few months back. In short the thanks we get is that one of the group slag us off on Twitter (saying the comments from you guys lack intelligence) for our troubles. This is just a reply that will get seen by many more people so I thought I’d exercise my right of reply publicly, as their badmouthing has been done publicly 🙂

      (Quote)

  32. ok … never heard of them. the basic and obvious question has to be…. how cares what they say?
i think we get a really good cross section on here and its not too bad on the other one either… but i came over here as i missed rowing with you lot.
there is alot of good stuff on here and i would bet that in every article the actual truth of what the score is is hit fair and square on the head by one of us.. we just dont know it thats all. one of the guys will have said the exact reason for jose leaving today and prob has dekka going ‘ffs… how do these guys know this ‘?
ANyway….seems a silly name …. united for united.. esp when they er…slag off fellow fans alike… coks man.

  34. Keep up the good work Toonsy i for one love reading your articles i know you mean the best for our beloved team NUFC .On another subject Pardew has got to get his balls out of Fat Cashley’s purse & start to earn his wage & sort out the players contracts (Barton & Nolan) who want to stay & put the beloved black n white top & sort Enrique out if he is silent get rid of him he has had long enough now. We only want players who love NUFC no player is bigger than our magnificent club & to future players who want to play for NUFC the badge on the front of the shirt is more important than the name on the back of the shirt. Our magnificent fans deserve better week in week out we follow our team through thick n thin we keep getting our name dragged through the mud enough is enough FAT CASHLEY you don’t deserves supporters like us.

  35. Quite honestly lads I wouldn’t worry about it, you will continue to get more readers and keep them because you write good heart felt articles that the fans want to read. I read a good few NUFC sites and all contribute in one way or another.

You will always have people slagging you off (I had one guy come to my house) but a they say you can never please everyone.

Just keep writing great articles. And HTL… 😛

  37. Yeah great Toonsy I think it will undergo a big makeover in the next few weeks if I get the time….. off on me Hols to Morocco tomorrow  Waiting for this new striker to arrive, heard we will get Micky Owen on loan so we can all throw fivers at him. 4. To represent the Newcastle fan base in a manner that displays integrity, respect and diplomacy.

    Failed…

  45. Interesting…at a glance it feels to me that’s they have got an agenda. Just look at why it was set up in the 1st place. The sacking of Hughton…not the right motives for me.

Also surprised they got in front of people at the club but doubt it went further than s few token meetings.
