Exciting times ahead on NUFC Blog!

Up, up and away.
The future of Newcastle United is always a hotly debated topic and each person has their own view on just how it’s going to pan out.

However, this article is less about NUFC and more about NUFC Blog as I lift the lid on some developments with regard to this site, both now and in the future.

There are a lot of plans afoot for this place and I like to keep everyone involved as much as I can. Those that have been with us from the start will back that up, as will those that e-mail the site with ideas for articles and even their own musings, all of which end up being published. We aren’t up our own **** here and don’t limit it to a select few who write. We’re by fans, for fans, so if people want to have their say then who are we to stop them?

Anyway, enough waffle. Right now I’m going to make you aware of the way in which you can keep up to date with our latest articles. Obviously we are on Newsnow, so that is one way, but you can also find every article on both Facebook and Twitter aswell as other stuff that we occasionally feel like putting to you.

All you have to do is either ‘like’ us or ‘follow’ us respectively, or both, and you will get all of our articles popping up in your newsfeeds as and when. To do that just click the relevant button at the top left of the site which will take you to either the Twitter or Facebook page for the site

There is also the option of keeping up to date with the latest ramblings and musings by subscribing to our RSS feed, once again by clicking the icon in the top left of the site. That way you will be made aware of any new articles within minutes of them being released.

The new season means new competitions, with prizes such as NUFC merchandise, DVDs, cash, tickets and other stuff. It’s in the planning stage at the moment but there are most definitely prizes up for grabs, just ask Tony Green Supreme who won himself a copy of the NUFC season review DVD last time out in what was a test competition. Most competitions are open only to registered users however, so why not make a start and get registered now in preparation for the new season?

We still have our NUFC Forum running where you can go and create your own conversation about pretty much anything. It will only get busier if people start, and continue, posting! Have a look around, open a thread, reply to some of the current ones even. It’s pretty straight-forward.

E-mail newsletters are on the way as is a slight site redesign to make it look that bit better than what it is at the minute. It’s something slimmer and sexier as opposed the 2am fat bird that it is at the moment. It will also stop people picking on the banner and the loss of certain players within said banner!

All in all I’m happy with the way things are going, very happy in fact. It’s still just the beginning though and there is a lot of stuff to do and no doubt more things that will crop up as and when. Any questions, suggestions or feedback can be sent to us via the contact menu at the top of the page so please feel free to get in touch if you have something to say.

Thanks for reading this by the way. It’s a little bit cheeky telling you all about everything, but it’s how I roll and I like to be open with people. I was just using this lull in NUFC news to get this ‘out there’.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to us.

  1. CC – Do you know of any where people can just sign up and it gets sorted for them? Like the Fantasy Footy? I mean it’s likely that there will be more than 10 entrants and I aint sorting everything manually 😆

  2. No but we used to do one at work and it was fairly easy, 1 point for a correct result and 2 for a correct score piece of **** we wouldnt need jokers and all that shat.

who won the fantasy football in the end i gave up checking after judas didnt get an assist for nolans goal at wham because of a deflection but i got points for tevez goal vs us which was actually a colo OG… 🙄

  3. Could you make a mini-league on one of the sites, then each person signs themselves up and joins it?

      (Quote)

  4. If you make an account on one of the football prediction sites, there is an option to set up a league with your friends. You could set one up then members could make an account and join it?

      (Quote)

  5. Yeah, pretty much. I did on the Fantasy Footy. Had one big one for the site but smaller ones for me at work and so on

      (Quote)

  14. Speaking of prizes – I missed out on the last one. Didn’t know how to enter but I figured we would draw Arsenal at home for the first game. Plucked it right out of the ethers. Still, glad the other guy won!
Keep it up Toonsy – I appreciate being kept in the loop from LA.

  15. By the way, my wife and myself are coming to the UK for Christmas and there’s a chance we might go up to Newcastle for the home game against West Brom IF it’s possible to get tickets! No idea how really, as it’s a few years since I last went to a game (I live in New York and my home town in the UK is – ahem – Birmingham! And, dare I say it, I haven’t been to a home game even though I’ve seen us play away at places like Barcelona!).

We only might, but it’d be good to know how to go about getting two tickets. Is it difficult for a non-season ticket holder?

      (Quote)

  16. Adam – Book early and you won’t have a problem mate. I’ve never had an issue getting home tickets 🙂

  17. congrats toonsy, the blog has really taken off. top site, top bloke. you have achieved a lot in a short space and it is run very impressively! also commend you on not letting your temper getting the better of you and banning certain fans…..as opposed to wum’s(who can be banished for good)

      (Quote)

  18. I agree with Buddy, for a **** you have achieved a lot Sy, keep it coming you **** 😀

  20. Toonsy you’s are doing a good good keep it up Lad 😉
Right back to the important stuff 😆 Have we signed anyone yet 😆

  21. Thanks Toonsy! Jay Jay, well Birmingham has some good things about in now (though since leaving the city in 2003 I lived near Valencia, then in Manchester before marrying a girl from NY and been in New York since 2006).

I’ll enquire about getting tickets early if we can go up to the Toon!

      (Quote)

  22. Cc – won’t they all be unallocated thus far though? Kind of saying here is what’s on offer, now earn it’

      (Quote)

  23. Well a few on twitter are claiming that bennys got #10, Jose and barton have been allocated numbers which they are perceiving as proof they are staying put 🙄

But apparantly number 1 is unallocated as is 9 (obviously)

seems a bit harsh on harper if they are stripping him of his number after he waited so long to get it…

      (Quote)

  24. jobey – living in rugby at the minute mate. Yep, its ****. Marktoon will back me up on that.

      (Quote)

  25. I don’t think we should have a prediction league tbh, Toonsy will run away with it… 😉

*appologies if a similar joke has already been used..I’m yet to catch up on comments!*

  26. If were playing **** towns top trumps i have to drive through stoke every day, like middlesbrough after a nuclear war… 🙄

      (Quote)

  27. What about a fantasy league? That would be class I rekon, anyone can play as well.

      (Quote)

  28. Andrew-aye that would be class

Wonder if anyone will choose Carroll or any Mackem players ..

      (Quote)

  29. Andrew – yes it can :close:

Jay – Indeed. Spend time in the square peg sometimes having something to eat.

Jobey – Not too far. About 40 miles. Had my stag do in Nottingham. Mainly in hooters 😆

      (Quote)

  30. Toonsy – Aye, near the train station? 😆 😆

I often slip in there, for a “****”

      (Quote)

  31. Toonsy I wouldn’t like to put you in an awkward spot by asking and you being too embarrased to say no, So I thought I would wait until asked 👿

  32. As always, I dig the site…i may in fact be on it too much…if that’s possible. I always looking for the latest info here.

The one thing I’ve always thought would be nice is a world map showing the locations of all the followers…only fitting as we are the “World Famous Newcastle United.” I often think if there was a way to have a Blog contest between other club blogs that it’d be interesting to see who has the most world-wide audience/participants. At this point Toonsy, you could say the sun never sets on your blog empire…cheesy i know.

But, I am truly digging the site and look forward to the additions. Thanks to all the contributors for their great work.

      (Quote)

  33. Jobey – that’s the one. Dead expensive in there. Had a ding song with the notts county firm in there. Pwoppa nawtee they were with their champagne and cocaine 🙄

      (Quote)

  34. Norcal – I’ve looked at doing that. I found a list of countries that had visited the site a week or so ago and it impressed me. I was surprised lol

      (Quote)

  35. Toonsy – Was that you brushing shoulders with the NG5 mafia, you’re lucky you’re alive mate.

      (Quote)

  36. Norcal, that’d be really cool. Just to see all the fellow Mags in the US would be cool enough!

      (Quote)

  37. AndrewT…that one has always intrigued me…so far that I know there is a SoCal Toon and then me in California…we’re like 400 miles apart though, so little chance of having a pint and watching a match together. Then there are people in the Northeast, Midwest, South, Florida and I am sure a few others.
I keep hoping that I’ll find at least someone else in the SF Bay Area…

One of the things I enjoy about this blog is the view from all over. I especially liked those pieces recently about how various fans became fans…Deepak springs to mind. All good stuff.

  38. The Whickham signing reeks of desperation by the makems.

Bruce is in big trouble next season as conor isn’t ready to lead the line in a Premier League side and that with spending that amount of money.

I honestly think (not being buyest) that they are in for a relegation battle next year and may actually put money on bagpuss being first PL manager to go

      (Quote)

  39. Newkie @ 49. The recently discredit BS9 would win the prediction league. He keeps telling us he knows everything.

      (Quote)

  40. Jobey,

if he is being bought for his potential than fair enough, but from a club like Man Utd or Arsenal with established strikers and the expectation being low so he can develop in time.

That price at Sunderland he will be expected to lead the line and come up with the goods.

Really poor move by Bruce to try and appease the fans after selling Henderson (not that they seemed to bothered at the price anyway)

      (Quote)

  41. Yeah, teams like Sunderland and Newcastle can’t afford to take such a chance. 8 goals ;last year, he’s hardly going to rip up the prem

      (Quote)

  42. Dunno what to expect from Wickham like, if its rising to 13m thats a big gamble. He does look a huge prospect though, remember when he played against us and he looked a handfull even at 17.

      (Quote)

  43. Wickham and Gyan…

Doesn’t really reek of a European push does it? Just think bagpuss is so short sighted and couldn’t manage his way out of a paper bag

      (Quote)

  44. Brisvegas 😆 too true mate

I would love nothing more than for sunderland to fail..but as we’ve said in regards to ourselves, there’s still plenty of the window open and Ellis short has shown he doesn’t mind throwing money around…if he gets bored this summer then yes they’re fecked, but I imagine they’ll get some decent players this summer, enough to save them from relegation 😕
