Welcome to the relaunch of NUFC Blog!

Alan Pardew

Alan Pardew
Another new beginning?
When I mention this next statement I am hopeful that you will all agree with it/remember it. That statement is as follows:

“I am not one to sit on my **** and leave things ticking along. Instead I intend to make this site the best that I can possibly ever make it to be. I have limitations, but hopefully those limitations won’t prohibit me from at least trying to make this site one of the best NUFC sites on the web.”

Long time followers may remember that, but if they don’t there is a reminder for them. This is why we are welcoming you to a relaunch. This is the next level, and we’ve found it quicker than Sunderland! You can expect the same content from the same group of authors, with the only difference being that the site looks slightly different!

Ambition is a big question among supporters at the the moment. Granted, this may not be the ambition that they are after, but you can put your house on me and the team wanting the very best for this site and, in turn, the very best experience for you guys.

So, what to do next?

Well, quite simply, not a lot. I’ve asked a few select people for feedback on this new layout and I have to say that, so far, the worst criticism has been the question of why should it be fixed if it isn’t broken? Good question, which will hopefully remain unanswered in light of the changes.

What I will say though is don’t be afraid to speak up. A lot of time, money and testing has gone into this new look, but now is the crunch time. If you can give us any constructive feedback then brilliant. We’ll see what the crack is and work on it from there. If not, I really do hope you enjoy the new layout.

I was out on the **** when these changes took place, which is nice as it means that everything went according to plan. In light of the fact that I’m drunk, plus the fact that things have gone smoothly, I thought I’d leave you all with this song:

On a serious note, I hope you all enjoy the new look. It’s been tested but things will have been missed so if you see something awry then let us know and we’ll endeavour to try and sort it.

In the meantime, being the most local of blogs, I’m off to practice my Local Hero!

  1. Liking the new layout looks very nice.

  2. Did i came to a wrong site? 😯 😕

Doesn’t have the feel of a blog. 😈

  3. I enjoy your Blog toonsy, I always find it interesting and well thought out, but I have to say the new layout looks a bit formal mate. At first glance it could be a scientific paper or something of that ilk. I know you wanted to change the format but this just doesn’t say NUFC to me. Perhaps something like a panoramic picture of St James’s Park sitting on the hill looking like a fortress would be the go. Just my opinion.

  4. Good work Toonsy 😎 This is already the best NUFC blog methink, with the best layout, the most interesting articles and in general the most reflective commentaries. 🙂

  5. Keep up the cracking work Toonsy and the other lads, really enjoy ther blog best one by far imho.
I’d like some pics of the players somewhere on the page methinks though.

It used to be so much better before that Santii fella turned up though 😉 😆

  6. Looks great… perhaps you should venture to the pub more often..
Many thanks for all the crack in the past and here’s to more in the future…

  7. Good work Toonsy. Have always followed you from your. org days and you really seem to have a lot of ideas and aspirations. Have always liked people like that, keep it going mate and well done. And by the way,I think the main thing that sets you apart from other blogmasters is the fact that you are so readily approachable and always amongst us…do make sure that you keep up the good habit.

  8. And I agree with Richie that I would like some pics of the players on the page. The lack of pics combined with the ads showing football related sites for me with mostly Rooney or Lampard and the likes is kinda bugging me.

  9. The two links that directs you to the next and previous articles are missing, they are really convenient. And so is the recent articles tab that is usually on the right. other than tht its all good.

  10. I agree with shadowtoon. you have to go to home page to see if there is a new blog. The presentation looks really slick & professional tho. Keep up the good work.

  11. Hi Toonsy, well done on the blog and experimenting with new formats. I agree with some of the previous comments that it needs more imagery related to NUFC, whether it’s the players, fans or whatever. To be honest was happy with the previous format, but with a bit of tweaking this will be just as good. Thanks for all the efforts you and the other lads put it to giving us a great blog.

  12. I like this,it has a more professional look and feel to it, hopefully it brings more people and fans to the site 😉

  13. Liking the new look toonsy, still reading when I can.
    Keep up the good work!
When we signing a new striker then? 😀

  14. Would it work with B&W stripes as a background? It looks kind of formal. The league table on the right has a few teams missing 15th to 17th. Don’t like how I have to go to the home page to get onto a different stream.

But, hey, it’s the content that’s important and that’s always good for a laugh, or a cry in some cases, plenty of head-shaking and exclamations of ‘What a freakin’ idiot!’. That’s what it’s about. The rest is all baubles and sunshine.

Once I’m reading the comments I don’t give a **** what the blog looks like. So it’s the look of the comments area that interests me – and that is beautiful. Very beautiful. The best on the web.

I read the articles sometimes as well, so that’s important too. 😆

  15. I like the new look toonsy. Just one thing though, I miss the pictures of some of the players at the top of the page. Perhaps you could find place for the likes of Coloccini, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Cabaye and Barton. Just a thought but good work on the new look. Keep up the excellent work you’ve been doing for the blog.

  16. Certainly looks more professional Toonsy… Have to agree with some of the comments above…. Less grey and more black and white maybe!!

  17. Looks good but it looks like you have copied Ed’s site with the font styles and some of the layout.

If it helps us buy a goal scoring machine then it is job well done

  18. Cannot see any changes on my phone, but I’ll have a look later on laptop and no doubt give my constructive comments as usual.

Wonder if NUFC should do the same as the blog…

  19. Hi all.. I helped Sy install some of the blog on a test site first, and we both agreed that it needed some extra Toon graphics and stuff, so making it look slightly less informal will come soon.. although it is much neater imo.. I think the most important thing for Sy was to get the blog up, running and tested in the close season and add to the layout bit by bit as he moves forward..

If there is anything missing (like the links to recent threads which I will look at for yous) just post up to Sy.. I’m sure he will add what’s missing or what’s needed..

  20. Really like the look of this layout, maybe some pictures related to Newcastle. Other than that it looks really professional

  21. Great work…..there’ll always be “missing links” on here though 😉 😆

  22. so theres no “log in”bit now or maybe ive missed it,still half asleep and knacked 🙁

  23. Looks Ok if a bit bland.

lost the links from one thread to another, now have to go via homepage

Premiership table looks a few teams short

    Still love the blog

  24. I’ll add links from one thread to another for you 🙂

Log in is at the top.. in the main menu now.. rather than sidebar..
Those fixtures/kick offs must be based on a different timezone lol.. and I wonder why it’s a few teams short.. hmm.. I’ll look at that for Sy.. while he sleeps his beer off

  25. RICHIE ime bloody knacked mate, got all the heavy stuff into storeage, but all the rest is dumped in my house, its like the kyber pass trying to get round my own house, the guy who bought the house is moveing in today so had to get it done, keep falling to sleep at funny times lol.

  29. Yeah man, as lee said, I just wanted to get the site up and running with what there was. Then I wrote this to get feedback from everyone which I’ll work through bit by bit

  30. cc…enough of ya personal problems, what do you think of the blog layout? 😆

  31. Great job Toonsy! Really can’t believe how this blog has taken off since its inception a few short months ago, and proud to have been reading since the beginning. One thing I like is more articles showing on the main page so I don’t have to go to the archive, it’s entirely possible to get five articles behind on here if it’s a busy day at work!! I really try to read them all and all the comments (geeky) 😀

Regarding the comments on more picures of players, I agree, but maybe you’re waiting till end of the window when we have all our new players 😉

  32. see theres talk of xisco ganning back to spain on perm deal,we should be so lucky, two yrs left on contract thats aboot 5 mil, cannot see him giveing that up like 😥

  33. Nice work here toonsy but completely agree with Batty @30, you’ve got the NUFC blog logo thing followed by an advert and one with Rooney on it…

      (Quote)

  34. And it looks like that other NUFC Blog that appears on Newsnow now. Or maybe that one looks like this one.

      (Quote)

  35. I think that’s an ad issue more than anything else, but I’ll add it to the list.

I always knew people would pick things up, as I said earlier, but it’s a work in progress at the moment. Remember, I’m a professor of Kaizen so things develop 😉

  38. looks clean, but definitely lacking NUFC related imagery, in my opinion. Nice wider format. If it was me I’d boost up the contrast a bit as the comments get a bit lost I.E. change the white column to a mid to dark grey so the comments stand out, and make the article image fill the width of the comments block. Just my opinions as a Graphic Designer, I understand it’s all objective. Nice work anyway! cheers.

  39. Richie, haha, god knows mate. yeah 20 years and counting selling me soul as a designer and I’ve been pissing about with Gravatar non-stop trying to get a stupid little icon working. Think I might have to re-register under a different email and start again.

      (Quote)

  40. lol..aye that would probably work, but what would I know, I can send emails and blog. That’s about it

  42. Toonsy from what I seen of it lastnite and before I think it looks a lot better and cleaner. It does need a few wee tweaks here and there and a few pics, but if it looks this good now im sure it will look excellent once all the wee bits are done.
The best blog going with some of the best blogger on it 😆

  43. Looks good Toonsy. Keep up the good work. This blog site is the best and will only keep getting better. 🙂

Now lets get a few players in so we have something to talk about 😉

  44. The header is awesome. I love the old Newcastle badge, it is mint. I get frustrated sometimes by the volume of stories but there is enough quality in there still to make up for it. This place has all the hallmarks of becoming the most prestigious Newcastle blog around (it is has long been the best). One suggestion I would like to make is that on the newsnow page it is sometimes difficult to know which stories are from this blog and other similar sounding blogs.
