Game on! Leeds v Newcastle.

Elland Road.
It’s the penultimate game of our pre-season today – our last one on the road in fact as we take on Leeds at Elland Road.

This is only going to be a brief article as I’m at the match myself but what I will say is that everything you will ever need for the match will be found in the comments section below including where to watch it (if there is anywhere), team news, updates etc. You’re in good hands.

As far as the injury front is concerned we are without Hatem Ben Arfa, Danny Guthrie, Shane Ferguson and Cheik Tiote although we will be boosted by the return of players such as Joey Barton and Yohan Cabaye after their brief stint in Holland brought about by Visa issues came to an end.

I expect that we’ll see a team that is more like the one we will start the season with today in truth. It’s getting close to big kick-off and rehearsals are at a premium so Pardew and Co will need to try out the first team sooner rather than later. I will of course be writing a detailed match report when I get home so you can all read what went wrong/right, how the new players looked, that kind of thing.

Howay the lads!

  1. Will be pleased to hear from all you numpties who said that Forster should be our number one, No chance

  2. See Joey has been letting his fingers go on Twitter. I actually think someone soon will let us know what’s really happening at the club.

If KK, Shearer, Barton, Enrique, Routledge and Nolan are all having a go at the regime there must be a problem.

  3. TLR well said. FF needs to get a loan to a championship side, or be happy warming the bench for the ressies 😕

  4. I can see Joey being out the door by the Arsenal game. The fat man and lambsarse will see todays comments as a slap in the face.

  5. TLR.

I admittedly said he deserves a chance. Not going to hide about it.

That’s his chance gone now though!

If only we as players could tell the fans exactly how it is, without them above fining us lots of money. There will be a time and a place.

  7. I’m sure Joey will be classed as unprofessional by some fans and the unavoidable warning signs will be lost on them. Twitter is a dangerous medium but anyone trying to tell me this is a conspiracy against the club by a number of different individuals, given the recent history and what we already know for a fact, is trying far too hard to not let the bad stuff in. Have to be admired for positive thinking though.

Poor defending today but hopefully it’s a case of ironing out the creases, lest we get battered by Arsenal first game.

  15. That comment from JB sounds a bit suss to me .. sounds like he has been offered a new contract but he doesnt want to sign unless more players signed up .. that is different to the story he has been giving of not being offered a contract

  16. No doubt Toonsy will do a match thread as he was there, so in the meantime there is a new article posted….

  18. Mate i would love to see a load of new signings – so i agree with you .. but same time bottom line each of the players you mention have been offered contracts and havent taken them because they thought they deserved more – we arent a charity mate and i dont want players to ***** the club around – they shud have signed.

  19. Poor peformance today by the Newcastle team they were very slow and clumsey no way near to the sharpness they need to be agaisnt Arsenal. Don’t think playing Ba and Amiobie up front will work. And hopefully mareuxe will be better than Guitierrez. Sorry about the spelling error’s.
