Barton to stay despite cruel intentions from Ashley and Co.

It's business to them.
Well life is never dull for a Newcastle fan, with the news about Joey Barton being transfer listed and available for a fee of nothing being yet another fine example of that.

Whether you agree with Barton and his Twitter antics or not is secondary as it appears that the club have reacted angrily to his outbursts. All I know is that if I slagged off my employers to hundreds of thousands of people I wouldn’t have a job to go back to, and I guess that would be the case for many of us if you actually look at your contract.

However it’s a sledge hammer approach to something that just needed a small tap with tack hammer to sort out. What is wrong with sitting down and sorting things out these days? It just doesn’t happen and once again it’s the fans who are left to pick up the pieces.

I’m pretty sure that ALL of you will back me up when I say this, but in the unlikely event of any players actually reading this please bear in mind that we – the fans – are completely and utterly still behind you and will support you as we always do.

We need to stick together and we need to support them as they are getting crapped on by above just like us. I would imagine that Alan Pardew has been crapped on in much the same way. they’ve done it to Shearer, Keegan, Hughton so why wouldn’t they do it the current incumbent?

It’s a mighty clash of ego’s that has caused it with nobody willing to back down. I note that Joey Barton has insisted that he is staying at Newcastle and has talked about the pride and honour of wearing the black and white on Twitter. If that is to be the case I hope he remains professional and doesn’t casuse any bother.

Quite what the wisdom of letting the Player of the Season from last season go on a free transfer is has been lost on me. Yes I would have preferred Barton to keep his comments in house, but at the end if the day surely a twitter ban would have done just that?

I just can’t help but think that Ashley and Llambias have been itching to get Barton out of Newcastle for some time now, and I think it stems back to the time when they were about to sack him only for Kevin Keegan to step in and save him. Ever since then I think they’ve wanted his sizeable wages off the book, which is strange considering that Barton has just about started repaying some of the faith shown in him by the club.

It smacks of an egotistical move by the board. Why else effectively give him away? Especially considering we have an owner who watches every single penny! Great business…

I’m really disappointed and disillusioned with this. Once again we are reduced to a laughing stock by this ownership and his **** of a Poodle, Delboy. My only hope is that this doesn’t evolve into an all-out revolt by the players who will be feeling much the same as I am I’d imagine – disillusioned.

What a summer eh?

  1. If we get rid of Barton and bring a good RB with the saving of his wages and had Abeid/Gosling/Jonas/Benny infront I would be pleased as punch tbh and I think it would strengthen us not weaken.

  2. Ok Mike Ashley that is a shame that you are taking Derek with you. Our banana supply will be improved but I will miss that grinning mug at the matches! Oh what happy times we have spent with that grinning fool. Now lost because Mike his taking him away. No wait, this has just been a dream. I’m awake now and Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh Ashley and Llambias are still with us!

    You come across very childish.

Maybe you haven’t been educated, as I have repeatedly gave dozens of opinions of how the club should be run but you choose to be ignorant or thick by not reading them. Your choice. 🙄

As for doom mongering. Anything but. I have experience and use it. All I do is tell you what I believe this regime will do by using past experiences. You choose to live in the land of cotton wool clouds and candy floss trees.

I don’t call it doom mongering. It’s called being realistic.

You should try it one day. Rub off your face paint and take off your clowns suit first.
    Woo hoo hoo hoo 😛 😛 😛 😳

Yes, ANUFC you are one of them. 😛 😳

  6. How many times has joey spoken up now ?
Free speach is a wonderfull thing , but from the clubs point of view it is not free infact it is costing them 65k per week to be slagged off.
If you were paying someone above the going rate and they spent most of their time slagging you to anyone who would listen what would you do?
If they fine him he will be the screaming victim, no one will buy him with less that 1 year left on a contract, then when he does leave he will be the hero.
He will point to Nolan who was forced out because we would give him 5 years on an improved contract, Carol who we forced out because we would not give him the 80k per week after he had just signed a new 5 year deal and said he was happy.
Jose who we are not able to give CL football to and it is all Ashley’s fault.
When he said that he was not putting anymore of his money into the club some people were obviously not listening.

  7. DJG – fully agree your comments – exactly what i was saying was coming last night on here. Think it hilarious that everyone thinks Nolan and Barton LOVE the toon .. people like Shearer love the toon and he even he would work for another club as a manager etc .. these lot think of their pockets – that is it. They don’t like being told to f cuk off . . they have been used to having their own way. Fans might not like it, but MA simply doesnt pander to the b ukk s hitting. I’m not saying it won’t be tough managing this change in the club v player relationship but i quite like the fact that we taking a hard line – dont ***** with nufc.

Mike Ashley surely you remember the bet you had with Derek which Derek lost and then had to run across the pitch naked. Oh is that too embarrassing for you to remember now? What a shame. How about the lies in court. Are they too embarrassing? How about not even having the plums to phone Shearer and tell him he was no longer in line to become permanent manager? That memory gone too? What a surprise. Whoever you are Mike Ashley this is great fun. Please continue.

Yeah seen Dereks naked body is evry embarrasing so I try not remember it , but hey its not if its a 3way. In regards to Alan Shearer , I lost my phone in a back of a taxi and lost his number , easily done. Plus I googled Shearer and seemingly he likes to dress up as Mary Poppins so I decided to stay clear there. The court thing was clearly a misunderstanding ,

  9. DJG “bring a good RB……..” How many players have gone this summer? How many arrived? How many yet to go or be pushed out? And Pardew says he needs one more player. So far he’s brought in £35m, £4.5m and £2m. What next? This ain’t good.

  11. MDS, Pinocchio has to go. Better he goes now than after the Sunderland game. Billy Dainty is mugging him off good style. “Carroll’s going nowhere.” “I’ve been promised 35 million to invest in the team.” “We have to make the signings of Barton and Nolan our top priority.” Little Billy wont even back him to get the first or second choice players he allegedly wants. How can the players have any respect for him when he has next to no credibility left? That is the real trouble in the dressing room that Joey is alluding to. Have you noticed all of the recent photo’s of Pinocchio? He’s a dead man walking. I’ve seen that look before.

I agree wholeheartedly with the too many changes aspect. Jonas, Tiote and Collo for me though are now the most important players for showing the new lads what commitment is required to the cause – and they don’t cause trouble.

What I will say is this – the club have now given Barton enough rope to hang himself. If he stays and plays – he is what he says he is – committed to the cause. If he goes on a free – its his choice and he has orchestrated the move as he is no longer commited to the cause and is to his pocket- either way the club win long term.

We as fans though suffer short term.

boohoo he didnt get a 4 year deal at 50k a week, i dont buy the black and white through his veins nonsense, the sooner hes gone the better. One good season (not magnificent) didnt give him the right, if he really cared he would have kept his gob shut and knuckled down and made it impossible for anyone to not offer him a new contract..
He forgets that he board stood buy him when the fans and media wanted him gone –

Move on and let cabaye run the show next season.

“I was very, very worried.” “It was a massively important decision to make – a very, very tough decision.”

“It’ll only be right if we stay in the division and we get the money to invest in the club – which Mike has assured me we will.”

“Then it is a good decision. But that’s not done yet.”

Sorry lads I know we are weaker now but I’d rather see us not pay stupid money for players who are just thinking about their wallet.

Barton giving all this hoo ha about how much he loves the club why doesn’t he just sign a contract and stop ruining the team spirit

  31. @ 76 so you will be happy if we just bring in a RB ?

Yes. Happier than I am now anyway. I’ve said before Barton is not indispensible and actually his effectiveness has been cut dramatically since Carroll left. You mention his combative style and in the case of the Arsenal game fair enough I agree with you. But he is slow, can’t take anybody on, is really a makeshift winger and actually not very good at corners and set pieces to be brutally honest.

feel sorry for our new arrivals especially cabaye who won the french league last season and could have been playing champions league instead of this sh!te – simpson and ameobi exclaimed they were gobsmacked

Given that information and he is already probably on the fringes of the first 11 would you give him a new 4 year contract? I think the club were generous to offer 3 if it is true, although I accept that might not be the case.

  49. Again disgraceful and distasteful treatment from the board and surely there must be a time when its enough. That said though, if its true about him wanting more than 3 years, then it is a bit self inflicted and maybe constructed to make the move “easier”. A win win situation for club(money saved) and barton(money made) with us, the fans, the true loosers once again. Cant really take much more of this bullshit from everypart, be it board or player/agent. The sport is really rotten and we the fans are being deceived time and time again.

Toonpipes, your wrong when you say the message is dont f**k with nufc – its actually dont f**k with MA.Away from football MA is one of the most disliked men in the business world, an arrogant bully and a ****,a risk taker,an aggressive buyer and seller. Many would question just how good a businessman he is.Sports Direct were struggling until the recession and then more people returned to his pile em high sell em cheap approach – so he has in effect been lucky.Trouble is he thinks his methods can be applied to football – not if you are looking to build for the future’
I prefer my owners and chairman to act with a bit more class and dignity, not stand downing pints in the away end and pretending to be one of the lads, then sacking a dignified manager who treated his senior players like adults and got the right response from them – not to mention appointing a puppet and not having the decency to support him at a press conference.
Ask yourself this – would Sir Bobby have agreed with his methods and work with him – irrespective of the wisdom (or lack of) in Barton’s actions?

  53. Looking at this and all the other comments from NUFC players, it’s clear they hate the regime and attempt to show it up for what it is. Judging by the regimes/Ashley’s response it seems he wants to let everybody know who’s boss. Simple. This is obviously very unhealthy for the actual football, the team and very upsetting for us fans. Ashley knows nothing of football as we already know, but it seems he’s happy to let the fans down time after time. Evidence shows he’s not happy to reinvest properly, and also let the captain and other decent players go like Barton. I think Ashley has had enough of the club and it’s possibly something he took on that he now doesn’t really want or truly care about. He’s probably immune to abusive fan comments and to an extent player comments, he doesn’t really give a f*ck. Any other club of our size would be in uproar after not reinvesting after the Carroll sale by now, which we are generally… but like I said, he has no love for NUFC. He more than happy to take all kinds of risks to just keep things ticking along enough.
