Wolves 1-2 Newcastle – Match highlights, interviews and full download links

Highlights of the 2-1 victory over Wolves this afternoon for you now, followed by the post match interviews from the respective managers.

First I suppose we’d better start with what most of the talking points are going to be about, and that means that the match, as ever, will have to be dealt with first.

Not only do these highlights feature the goals from Demba Ba and Jonas Gutierrez for Newcastle and Steven Fletcher for Wolves, they also feature the two rather contentious decisions that just happened to fall in the favour of Newcastle on the day.

What a goal by Jonas eh?

Moving onto what the managers have to say, and I guess the best place to start is with Alan Pardew. The rather jovial and smiley Alan Pardew has led us to 3rd place in the league – our highest position in 8 years – although he was honest enough to admit that on the day we had the luck with the decisions.

Meanwhile Mick McCarthy has still never managed to beat Newcastle in a Premier League match. That fact aside, the former Sunderland gaffer perhaps has a genuine reason to feel hard done by after the decisions that went against his side today. However he also admitted that the result was partly brought about by his own sides poor defending and profligacy in front of goal.

In an attempt to ‘go the extra mile’ I’ve now started to find full match coverage for you all to download and view at your leisure. Please use the following links to download all 90 minutes of the Wolves game this afternoon.

Second half

The good news is that these highlights are saved in MP4 format so you can watch the on your iPod/Pad/Phone or whatever. Once again you the ‘slow download’ link towards the bottom of the age on the right hand side and please scan each file with a virus program in case there is anything naughty hidden in there as I can’t be held responsible for third party applications.

Howay the lads!

  1. Jonas’s goal was a peach 😉 I also admire Pards honesty I think its refreshing to hear managers admit that they were lucky, as it doesn’t happen that much these days.

  2. It’s getting to be a funny feeling, waiting for the other shoe to drop. I think most of us probably feel we’re in a false position, but it’s pretty giddy and fun to be enjoying the altitude sickness up in 3rd while it lasts. Nice for the luck to be breaking our way for a bit…

  3. well i go back too what stu sed ,the game should of been put to bed ,also it makes up a little for all the decisions we dont get

  4. We need 4 points from the next two games, a win against Wigan and hopefully a draw at best against Tottenham. 6 points is the dream but I would take 4 points now. Hell, even 3.

We have that horror spell coming up in November and as many points as possible before those is vital.

  5. Batty, that’s what I was hinting at on a previous thread. I reckon we were well worth our win, having not seen the game though, and irrespective of the two poor decisions which went in our favour. All in all a great result, I just love it when we put those 20 year old jinxes to bed…

  6. You make your own luck…hard work & trying to do the right things. Defenders are allowed to block shots, keepers are there to make saves & we’re responsible for the others team or referees performances

  7. A divvent care how early doors it is, it’s great to see us sitting third. Wor lass is getting a bit fed up seeing the German text on wor tele showing the toon third top… 😆 😆 😆 …

  8. Dave, that’s why I think we should put Santon in. Bale will have the measure of him

  9. Keep your eyes on where the ball is at the time of the challenge for the penalty shout. firstly, the player is running away from the goal and seccondly he did not have control of the ball. No penalty. We won 2-1 no probs for me whinging micky mackem as per.

  10. Porcie – Must admit my stream went off at the time but the commentators and people on here seemed to suggest it was a stonewaller. Looking at the highlights I’m not sure it was but I’ve seen them given, and they did get a free kick for it 😕

Dave – It will be Simpson v Bale won’t it?

      (Quote)

  11. Bale will annihilate anyone on his day like. He single handedly destroyed Inter Milan. Have to hope it isn’t his day.

      (Quote)

  12. well DAVE you forcast the right result if not the right score 😉 still say simpson is the weak link,we know R.Taylor is not a l/b,but simpson will not cut it in PL imo

  13. Toonsy: Bale switches sides in the game so he could end up being on the left or right flank

Defo pen, was a good yard or so inside the box where the foul took place, but he fell outside. If it was us I’d be upset that we didn’t get it, same with their 2nd. But on the other hand, we never normally get things our way and we didn’t play badly really. Yes, got a get out of jail free card, but who cares, 3 points and still no loss yet. First win there since 54 0r 58, well before my time whatever, and even though my holiday is over and just got back in time to watch the match online, got a big beaming smile, no complaints at all. Worst case is 4th place by the next game weekend. Wish we didn’t have next weekend off, just want it to continue now, but going to bask in it and enjoy it

  15. Guys I think which side he plays is fairly irrelevant as I fancy Lennon to rip raylor apart with his pace anyway if he plays 🙁

No thanks but made me laugh ha RT @2NarMe: @dannysimpson12 Danny, I live in Wallsend & I know you have a missus but if you want; you & all the squad can go through my wife. Happy Man.
    😆 😆 😆

  17. Totally off any topic, but can anyone explain why nufc.com always puts mackem and sunderland in small case like that.

It’s irritating and petty to the degree it makes the site look like a joke. Just ranting and it’s why this site is best.

  21. Moreno,

Birmingham are 3 matches behind the rest of the league. If they win those games, they are 5th or 6th.

  22. FJ,

Irrespective of any league standings, Wolves fans are a class above Brum fans. Not a fan of Brum in general, couldn’t give a ***** how they do in the league so it really wasn’t aimed at that. Know a few Wolves lads and they are all top supporters.

How’d the rugby go today anyway mate? I missed it 😥

  23. What’s happening lads that was a fantastic win I don’t care what you say barca win lucky sometimes so why can’t we???

  25. We had luck on our side and at times last year when we played poorly we didn’t win, there’s been a big difference when we haven’t played well this year we have ground out the results which is key to us gaining points this year

“Birmingham are 3 matches behind the rest of the league. If they win those games, they are 5th or 6th.”

Games in hand vs points on board

I have a mate who has a box at Birmingham and I sometimes go along to it but I’ve refrained since Hughton went there as the view will be restricted by the sun shining out of his ****.Turning down free football and beer 😯

Moreno – You see that @nufcfans on Twitter moaning about showing highlights. It’s not allowed…… Go bollocks…

      (Quote)

  27. Which player got the most points today in fantasy football? Oh Gabby Agbonglahor. Who happened to have to foresight to captain him? Oh Me 😎

Toonsy, you might have moved off the foot of the table as your team is full of mackems and they scored a couple today.

Also, had Joey’s horse on at 20/1 today and put Demba on to score first at 6/1.

Only bet i lost was Cabaye to score anytime but I’ll forgive him

      (Quote)

  28. I hadn’t noticed that mate! Thanks for pointing it out though, evening’s entertainment for Moreno

  29. Not looking forward to MoTD’s analysis (or lack of) of the game today. All the focus will be on the two controversial decisions, taking the spotlight away from another good performance and deserved result.

Alan Shearer needs to grow a pair and needs to stand up for the club he’s meant to love…

      (Quote)

  30. Wow… well still no analysis of such but are the BBC finally accepting NUFC as a big, threatening club in the Premier League?!

Should have been a pen, but I probably would have called that ball over the line at 88mins…

      (Quote)

  31. toonsy, they can’t get the points until they play the games. Better to have the games in hand than play them and not get the points, no?

They are juggling Europe and The Championship well for a team of 14 players with a combined age of about 30. Steve Harper is older than the Birmingham team combined.

Also, Tim Krul is trending on twitter, he seems to winning a lot of fans.

      (Quote)

  32. Smart. Match of the Day highlighting the Everton fans throwing stuff and not the root cause of the problem, which is Suarez and his dirty dives

      (Quote)

  33. Another few points off him in the fantasy league 😀

Toonsy, what’s the craic with your team man!

      (Quote)

  34. Moreno – I has two Sunderland players in there. Not any longer though 😀

FJ – Sorry mate, but the sheer **** licking Hughton got which brought about a lot of Pardew bashing, and still does in some quarters, means that I want him to fail.

      (Quote)

  35. Nah toonsy hughton is a good lad he stabilised us got us back in prem and treated like rubbish he deserves to do good job 😉

      (Quote)

  36. Liam – In a way yes, but it’s pretty sad when people can’t move on and cling onto everything he does as though they are love struck teenagers. He’s been gone nearly a year, get over it, springs to mind 😉

He did a good job for us but served his purpose. I think fondly of him but it was the right decision in hindsight. By a million miles.

  38. I am an admitted Hughton fanboy I guess, but like you say, some people got all Maitreya with him.

I do believe I was his most vocal critic in terms of substitutions, for example. Or lack of, it should be.

  39. Anyway, bed time for me. Time to hang upside down in a dark corner for a few hours and recharge 🙂

That lot can **** off. They’re no doubt a little down since things have been going so smoothly at the club. Pardew and the lads are bringing everyone together just fine thank you

      (Quote)

  44. Woah, watching MotD now. Blackburn didn’t even turn up. I have Steve Bruce on to be sacked first but that Kean is gonna bust that un

      (Quote)

  45. Andy – Hmm. Sounds about right for them. we’ve had a few run ins with them before and have ripped them to bits in subsequent articles. I might do another one tomorrow as I caught them abusing other NUFC fans the other night. I don’t know who Kevin thinks he is, but its clear he is in no position to represent the fans when he spends so much time abusing them

They are a disgrace mate. And the fact they are trying to represent us the fans is terrible
    ———————————–
Of all the things that bug me about them, what grates me by far the most is that they think they can speak for me as supporter.

      (Quote)

  47. Cheers toonsy. I just thought i should try let all the other supporter group and forums know what these guys are like. Not a lot are wanting to get involved but fair play to you guys for actually questioning them and what they are apparently trying to do

Carlos who? Isn’t he some sleepy mexican?

  49. The 2 decisions went in our favour but how many times have you watched a team like Man U and they get decisions like that. Not saying we are Man U but we are in the top 4 and playing well. We still seem to incur 5 minutes of stoppage time out of nowhere though.

      (Quote)

  50. not sure about putting Santon in for his debut…. at RB??? against Bale????? Seem to recall that the main criticism against him in Italy was his difficulty in defending against ‘direct’ wide players. Don’t want to crush his confidence in his first game

As for coping with Bale in 2 weeks time??? Think it’ll be a tactical rather than personnel question – Over to u Mr Pardew…..

      (Quote)

  51. Don’t know why people are terrified of spurs for, they have some good attacking players but that is about it IMO.

  52. First time I saw the ‘penalty’ I thought it wasn’t a foul…. gotta say on 2nd viewing we were lucky to get away with it 😆

Not a bad one. Just enough to keep him out for our game 😆
