Cabaye and Ba fit and ready for Spurs?

Cabaye and Ba - Fighting fit for Spurs?
Newcastle fans have been sweating over the fitness of Demba Ba and Yohan Cabaye over the last few days, but it seems as though the concern was uncalled for, according to Lee Ryder anyway.

The news regarding Ba suggested that the Senegalese international was found to have an issue with his knee which meant that he sat out the international game at the weekend and didn’t take part in any training.

However it appears that it was all precautionary and the striker should be fit to face Spurs at the weekend which will allow the Toon Army a collective sigh of relief give the rich vein of form the striker is in. Ba’s scored 4 since Ramadan, and he just can’t get enough…

Now call me cynical if you like, but I find it strangely coincidental that Ba supposedly picked up an injury against Wolves, went away with Senegal, didn’t play in the meaningless game thanks to injury, but now he is supposedly fit for the game at the weekend. Job done?

The other player with injury concerns is Yohan Cabaye. Since the France game last Friday I’ve heard stories of injuries of varying degrees, each with it’s own recovery timescale ranging anywhere from zero to six weeks.

Of course eyes will be on the side that Laurent Blanc picks this evening but it would appear that Cabaye has taken part in training ahead of the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina is Saint-Denis. Personally I think it’s a tad harsh that France have to play two countries this evening, but the fact that Yohan is training should stand us in good stead for the weekend.

Whether Cabaye is picked or not should be a good indication of how his injury is. The former Lille man has established himself as a key figure for Les Bleus under Laurent Blanc, and with France still needing a result this evening to guarantee a passage to Euro 2012 you would have to think that if Cabaye is fit then he will feature.

Of course much of this is just hearsay and speculation at the moment and there is an awful lot of “understanding” going on. The local journalists have got it wrong before so I guess the only way we’ll really know for sure is when Alan Pardew talks to the media on Thursday.

Hopefully he’ll be the bearer of good news!

  1. Dave,

He was invited to a corporate event at St. James’s Park by a client he does business with. Name clearly on the guest list so he goes.

Derek Llambias then ejects him from the building and starts abusing him, basically saying he couldn’t afford the corporate and throwing him out.

I agree that if someone slags off your casa you have a right to request they not be there….the way it was done though reeks of the gutter pigged nosed way of doing things our glorious MD is famous for

  2. Thats nice Bobs – think you need help .. it isnt a competition on here you know .. its all quite chilled and just sort of people saying what they think .. if the banter is better or worse with or without you – depending on your bantermeasureometer – won’t get you more badges or anything you know . . better of practicing your knots or stamp collection or something .. are you in cubs?

  3. @stevep

He puts himself about as the fans champion?

Hmm? Think not. He always makes it clear that his views are entirely his own and not representative of anyone else.

  4. For what its worth Llambias is a **** as well 🙂
Good news on cabaye, ba is allegedly injury free as well but feel Ben arfa could fill his role so not as important as cabaye…… Who would we play instead of him, smith !!!

      (Quote)

  5. Yeah, in summary a bit harsh, but he can hardly say it was unexpected surely? Is he thick aswell as ugly? End of the day it was petty and childish, but it was also not surprising was it?

I find it funny personally 😆

  6. Moreno, depends on your point of view – doesnt it? .. i mean if you think that Wraith is damaging the toon, in the way DL clearly thinks Wraith is, wudnt you give him a right ear bashing .. kind of like the way Wraith thinks that MA is damaging the toon so he goes around inciting hatred and violence against him – or is that allowed? ..

      (Quote)

  7. Dave agree what’s this with wraith? What’s the context Moreno?

So cabaye okay hopefully any more on ba?

      (Quote)

  8. Troy i agree with you they have no answers or even worse dont think anyone deserves answers ! I know steve wraith a bit he has had books published writes very well does fantastic work for charity , and n irish toon are you saying that because you dont agree with steve he shouldent be allowed to support newcastle or should anybody who disagrees with the board or asks then questions be thrown out and stopped from supporting newcastle ??

😳 sorry poops. I fell asleep again. You really are an interesting character. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 😆

  10. Troy – Each to their own mate, if you like him that’s fair enough
Negative attitudes never help anything and I’ve yet to see him come out with anything constructive …. oh and the fact he keeps banging on about his mates Carroll, the krays etc is a cry for publicity for himself
Still, each to their own, takes all sorts and that

      (Quote)

  11. Ah right, Steve Wraith incites violence against Mike Ashley now does he?

**** me, what are you on about?

Also, how can Wraith ‘damage’ the toon? If you feel like that then surely we are as well on this blog? Surely I am for writing anti-Ashley articles? They get viewed by more toon fans than Wraiths blog or radio show, guarantee that.

I don’t know who people think Wraith is, yeah he used to be liaison official or whatever but now he is just a normal fan who loves the club and disagrees with the jokers in charge. Fair play to him for having the balls to actually act upon his resolve rather than sit around just spouting off I say.

  12. Stevep,

“etc is a cry for publicity for himself” – He works in promotions. Promoting bands and events. He also promotes his work too.

  15. Moreno imo if he is invited as a guest by someone that is entitiled to be there then Lambsarse has no grounds to eject him surely.
But then that is Lambsarse’s way of doing things im sure most thought that he made a right **** of himsel for getting on that way. You would thing he would know that there is ways of doing things and I dont think that is anyway to conduct yourself while your the chairman of the Toon.

      (Quote)

  16. Stevep,

Both a bit more capable in the role than smudger though!

Gosling seems to be a box to box sort is he not? I would have said creative midfield is Guthrie’s best position?

      (Quote)

  17. Moreno – I don’t actually care, don’t know the bloke and if I met him my view might change – as it stands I just find him irritating – just my own personal view – same with llambias, just don’t like the bloke even tho I’m sure he’s nice to his mum

Can’t think of any other reason why Troll, sorry, Troy would be back on here.

  20. At 4.40 tonight i was asked to leave NUFC a club I have supported home and away since 1984 by Derek. I was invited by a corporate paying customer of the club as a guest. I was on the list and obviously wasn’t picked up by the staff. Derek shook my hand and asked if he could have a word outside. He told me that I should not be there as it was a corporate event and I could not and would never be able to afford corporate. I begged to differ but we agreed to disagree. I asked him in that case if he wanted me to leave and he said yep. Simple really. He doesn’t like me because I have told the truth about recent developments surrounding players/signage etc…My support home and away for my club will never change despite this petty act. It’s his club and he can do what he wants. What people think of me doesn’t really bother me lads as I have said before. Christ i worked the doors for 18 years so you have to have a thick skin. Even thicker these days with my kite on display in the team photo yesterday lol. My opinion is as valid as the next fan. I speak my mind. There is nothing stopping everyone else doing the same if they want to. I think Derek made an error of judgement based on personal grievance today, but I can see why he did it. …..I never wished anyone dead …I made an off the cuff bad taste joke about wishing it was him next after the deaths of Bin Laden and Saddam….it was a text going round….can’t believe you keep bringing that up…..I don’t have a vodoo doll of him you know…..It was only right to answer your posts….I never hide…Great start to season though..hope the team can keep it up and hope Mike and Derek prove me wrong….the way they treated Keegan/Shearer and continue to treat us tells me a different story.

      (Quote)

  21. Moreno I take it Lambsarse was probably giving it the big I am acting like a right **** with a bit of power, he is probably the type that would run away from Wraith **** scared if he met him ‘outside’ and didn’t have anyone around him.
I have always said that Lambsarse is a major problem at the Club

      (Quote)

  23. Steve – unlucky but you should have told llambias you were the guest of a paying customer and that he should take it up with him
Of course you’re free to have any view you want as is anyone else but llambias is also free to have the view to kick you out, especially when you front run it by asking him if he wants you to leave – you already know he’s a spiteful **** so what did you expect

  24. Howman, a couldn’t give a monkey’s what the fk ye’re ahl onaboot.

Just finished watching the Franch game. Got to say, how much does one of them Menez’s’s cost these days? Fkn dangerous looking player, diving bastad like.

Cabaye, had pretty much of a non-game for me. Gave the ball away a couple of times, and, erm. Gameiro came on in the second half, and although he glinted hints of ability, always looked like a young fat Gary Barlow crossed with Michael J Fox (from Back to the Future), which in turn makes him ****, just about to get good, then **** again, but in reverse, or something.

To summarise, B&H (Benson and Herzagovina) outplayed AND outmuscled France for the vast majority of the game, for me. Last half hour was all France, without Cabaye, cos he’s too *****.

      (Quote)

  25. Steve sorry lad but I dont think you should have offered to leave, IM)O you had a right to be there as an invited guest, and if the club cant check through the names on the list thats there fuking problem, I just think you made it too easy for the wee *****.
As for some of the ***** abuse you get I cant work it out because its like you were guilty of personally harming them, IMO the only thing your guilty of is loving the Toon.
So keep on keeping on Lad

  26. I’m not going to argue with him and give him the satisfaction. He’s entitled to his opinion and hes right i’m not a corporate. The guy I was a guest of was not very happy about this so we will see how that goes. I just laugh at his arrogance saying that I’m not corporate and would NEVER be. Apparently they will be inviting selected fans to the club very soon. Oh and he also said we were not as big a club as Spurs tonight allegedly!

      (Quote)

  27. Agree that Llambias showed very little dignity (not a new thing and like Dave I think he is the biggest problem at the club).

Also back Steve 110% when he says he is entitled to his opinion. Absolutely.

If there is one thing this shows its that fan groups who are vocally anti regime will never work. This is not to say that they mustn’t be against the regime as otherwise there would be no need for a group lol

However every single one of these groups needs to box clever as they aren’t going to get anywhere without having a somewhat vanilla stance, publicly at least, towards Ashley and Co.

To me united for Newcastle nailed it right at the start and they were at least getting dialogue going regularly before they turned vocal against the board. Now what do they do? Same as the rest….

In short, and regardless of what has gone on in the past, to get anywhere you need to keep them sweet and box clever.

In my opinion of course 😉

  28. Yeh maybe I should have stood my ground…but then what? Over zealous stewards chucking me out ala Level 7 and me getting banned? Play right into his hands. Nee chance. I’ve followed the club since 84 and aint stopping now. I had a dodgy call from someone claiming to be from the club a few weeks ago checking my address…they said they had found my season ticket….funny that…there was nobody in my pocket on my bedroom floor?

  30. On the Spurs thing he’s probably right.

The only thing we beat them on at the moment is attendances.

    Higher turnover than us
    Higher league finishes
    More European games
    More silverware

Aside from attendances, they are just about better than us in all departments unfortunately.

      (Quote)

  31. Toonsy,

If the private owners have set their stall out not to communicate with fan groups then I would be surprised if it changed. Regardless of approach or tact. They are not obliged too and probably don’t feel the need.

United for Newcastle could have changed this but probably set us back even further, as you said mate they nailed it at the start but fell by the wayside.

Fan groups or fan reps will never work with such a diverse set of fans for everybody, there’s always going to be a fair segment not happy.

Good to see Steve on here fighting his corner, we might not agree with everything he says or the way he go’s about pubicising himself but he is only really doing what we all do on here to a greater extent in a way. He is always civil to people and that I like. With doormen half seem to be ****** and half are good lads. I think we can all agree that Lambsarse is the ‘weakest link’ at the club.

  36. Errr we aren’t as big as spurs at the moment, it’s all relative….
Anyway let’s move on, this blog is about toon not one fans eviction from a corporate event ffs
I am really looking forward to the game on Sunday, should be a cracker and if we play at our best we can win it, only worry is raylor and Simmo at the back – other than that I reckon we can match em since we with home advantage and prob a full house

I would like to come to one though and hopefully I can make one in the near future.

I still believe that to get anywhere with this lot a different approach is needed and its one that won’t be achieved overnight. How about publicly praising the good stuff, as a group? Whether that be results, signings or whatever. At the moment it seems as though every group just latches onto the bad stuff which looks harmful from the outside.

In a way its like someone just posting comments on here to highlight a mistake or typo yet they are never to be seen when another article is spot on. I tend to put less credit in what they say and ignore it as it just comes across as moan if you get my drift.

Anyway, time for kip. Up at 3:30 😥
