Enter our new competition NOW!

Keep warm this winter!
NUFC Blog has teamed up with Savile Rogue to give you the chance to win one of the world’s finest cashmere football scarves.

Why not enter our competition to be in with a chance of winning one if these for yourselves, in the famous black and white stripes of course!

Savile Rogue scarves give a nod to football terraces of yesteryear, shunning in-your-face logos and cheap nylon in favour of a traditional bar design and the comfort, quality and warmth of top grade wool. Put simply, it’s the sort of scarf you would be happy to wear even when you’re not at the match!

To have a look at the prize simply click here and if you wish to be in with a chance of winning it simply answer this question:

Four players have won the PFA Young Player of the Year award while playing for Newcastle United. Name them.

Entries will only be accepted from users who are registered with the site. If you aren’t registered then you won’t win. But don’t fret, registration takes seconds to do so you can enter in no time and be in with a chance if winning the prize.

To enter simply send an e-mail to [email protected] with your registered username in the subject line and your answers in the main message body. Usernames will be checked so no funny business!

The winner will be announced next Wednesday, 19th October.

In the event of a tie I’ll put all of the winners in a hat (I do have some cracking hats!) and make the Mrs pick one out. Or I’ll get my mystic dog to choose a winner by seeing which bit of paper she licks first or something like that.

Entries are accepted from the world over so don’t worry about postage or anything like that. It’s all sorted. Just get entering!

If you are unfortunate and don’t manage to win then don’t despair. You can still buy one for yourself or as a Christmas present for someone with a £5 discount valid until 1/11/11. Simply enter TOON when prompted for a code at the checkout.

You can follow Savile Rogue on Twitter or Facebook by clicking either of the blue hyperlinks which will take you to the relevant page.

Best of luck!

  2. You guys mention Google. I tried to think of a question that couldn’t be found on Google for about four hours 😆

In the end I just gave up as whatever question I posed the answer would be somewhere online 🙂

  4. Anyone seen this article http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/soccer/10/12/liverpool.tvrights.ap/index.html?sct=sc_t2_a6

I realize it isn’t about NUFC, but my favorite comment, “in Kuala Lumpur there isn’t anyone subscribing to ESPN to watch Bolton.” Man, Liverpool are really making themselves look like the D!cks of the PL.

Thank goodness this can’t happen without approval from all clubs, because I think that would make the league a lot less interesting to watch.

  5. Just found this supposedly from that corporate event last night. Make of it what you will……..

    _________________________________________________________

Mate just came back from a corporate event last night as the lad he goes to the matches with owns a 40k box in the ground, consequently he got invited to this event tonight where Llambias and Pardew were in attendance.

First things first he couldnt speak highly enough of the pair of them, said llambias especially as he spoke to him and his dad for 45 minutes.

Steve wraith tried to get in but they refused him entry because time after time nufc invited him to these events and he kept making up “******** stories”.

according to llambias carroll was on 40k before he went to liverpool

last night llambias was in paris trying to sign a striker, my friend asked if it was berbatov he said no and wouldnt say who.

most interestingly he said ashley bought nufc “sort of by accident” because it was going to be a consortium job and his money was the deposit, when the deposit was put forward the other investors backed out and ashley was legally obliged to buy it. ashley then spent the first 18 months of his tenure trying to sell the club.

on barton (this bit im most sceptical) he said that barton engineered the move away himself and had no interest in the club. i think the truth lies somewhere in between.

according to llambias a statue of sir bobby is going up in april

pardew thinks sammy ameobi and vuckic are the future and spoke highly of the club and squad.

Personally i dont what llambias had to say would have been the whole truth, or some bits left out. However i think the fact both him and pardew had the time to talk to fans was a positive move and supposedly there will be a lot more of these events to come.

  6. That didn’t take so long. Come on toonsy. Harder contest next time! If you can’t do difficult, you can do longer. much longer.

  7. That bit about Ashley accidentally” buying club makes some sense if the alledged consortium then did the due diligence and said never mind.
But Im leaning towards this being fiction rather than fact.

  8. Ice – Rich tried telling me he was 44 earlier. I nearly wet myself. Stone maybe, but he’s being conservative with the age that old bassa 😉

  9. Good read there Toonsy about the corporate night. Makes you think.
If Ashley was stuck with the club like that, wonder if he’s changed his mind now and really does want to keep it or still looking to make that sale and get his cash back.

here is one for you Toonsy without looking it up which you should get why is a pastie so shaped?

  11. Icedog

Was it to do with the way you cup your hands round a pastie? Something about when working down the mine and the way you held it?

      (Quote)

  12. SIMON you passed your A level 😉 it kept the food clean they held the crust and ate the rest, now for a A plus what did they do with the crust when finished ❓

      (Quote)

  15. You know it’s odd that we’ve got onto this. I’ve often thought about a quiz night kind of thing but I don’t know how to go about it.

Other ideas I’ve had is a meet up and a football game for charity 😉

      (Quote)

  16. Toonsy, that would be a good idea for a meet up and a game of football for charity, but everyone is spread around the country 😛

      (Quote)

  17. Spence – Footymad manage it. Why can’t we? I’m sure people will travel (reasonably) if there was enough interest in it.

      (Quote)

  18. Is there no a good lot of you guys from Newcastle anyway im sure there would be plenty of people up for that footy match

Just promise them a pint afterwards 😀

      (Quote)

  19. I’d travel. The only thing is finding somewhere which is doable for everyone. I’d quite happily come up to Newcastle to play and I know a few others would.

Spence you can be waterboy 😛

      (Quote)

  20. Spencer won’t even turn up, ya fix him up with a game and he doesn’t even get his **** oot of bed 😉 😆

  22. i would be ref ive done it a few times, think icepup would play if hes off work, but could i say this sometime charity begins at home, how about putting it towards a new sever for this great blog, just a thought like 😕

  23. I think you would need to put a couple of dates forward, canvass who would realistically be up for the event in the first place and then find out what region they live in. From there, find a mutually convenient meeting point somewhere in the middle….. Sounds like a good idea, but difficult to sort out.. 🙂

      (Quote)

  24. Bloody hell thats shocking 😆

I played in the net tonight for sixth form like……

    We lost 6-1, but I actually played well 😆 😆 😆

  25. Toonsy, could you not just book 5-a-side pitches? It would probably be better to have a mini 5-a-side tourny.

N.Irish, I think that video is class and the top comment is something like “you must be bad when your second touch is a tackle” 😆 😆 😆 😆

  26. Megabus all the way!!

Sure there will be someone that comes from Newcastle that can drive, ill chip in with them.

If they deal with me jabbering for 4 hours 😆

      (Quote)

  27. Re: the midlands – I think it depends on who wants to play and where they are from…. Once a couple of dtaes are put forward people can check the calendars and try to get clearance from the partners… 😆
