And the competition winner is….

Keep warm this winter!
Last week here on NUFC Blog we gave you the chance of winning rather swish Newcastle United scarf (pictured left) courtesy of Savile Rogue.

To win the £50 scarf all you had to was answer a rather simple question and send an e-mail. Easy peasy. Over 50 people entered the competition so fair play for having a bash, but there was only one available and thus there can only be one winner so it’s congratulations to NorCal ToonFan.

He was among the majority who answered this question correctly and was randomly picked with the help of my glamorous assistant dan4toon, who very nearly picked his own winning entry by the way!

For those who didn’t see it here is the question posed followed by the answers:

Four players have won the PFA Young Player of the Year award while playing for Newcastle United. Name them.

1987-1988 – Paul Gascoigne
1993-1994 – Andy Cole
2001-2002 – Craig Bellamy
2002-2003 – Jermaine Jenas

What I need from NorCal ToonFan now is for him to get in tough and provide a postal address so we can get the goods out to him as soon as possible.

As for the rest of you, hard luck and better luck next time. And there will be a next time.

Just keep your eyes peeled!

  1. NorCal don’t give him your address. This was all a ploy to get back to his pipe bombing ways 👿

  2. Nice one Norcal, as if you haven’t got enough Toon merchandise already! You now have to work out which one of the bairns gets it, unless of course you keep it for yourself. 😎

  3. Or donate it to Toonsy after I spent a whole night shivering my **** off on a freezing cold coach 😡

  4. The club are really pulling out all the stops with this training session!

Chance to go to Pardews press conference.

  5. hahaha, new story Toonsy….. ‘NUFC board arouses suspicion through being nice to fans’

    😆 😀

  6. It can’t be any worse than last years!

Hughton and Calderwood were had a mic and you couldn’t a word, the players just ran up and down then left. I remember they asked Hughton and Ben Arfa and he said there’s absolutely nothing in it 😆

At least this time they’re getting the fans involved!

  7. It’s just unexpected really. As Dan says, they are trying hard for some reason and that makes me sceptical. I can’t wrote about it though as I’ll be looking for bad news again 🙄 and will probably get e-mailed some cracking stuff again 🙄

  8. I’ll do a article about it because I’ll be going if people were interested as to what went on.

  9. I reckon they’re just taking advantage of our good results and position, to get a nice bit of feelgood fan PR in there. Best time to do it when we’re up, especially given the tricky fixtures coming up before the end of the year. Seems all good to me, and I’m the suspicious type too.

  10. Nobby – Yeah you entered 🙂

Rodz – Sorry, don’t buy it. I reckon Fattypotimus is preparing his thunderbolt as we speak 😛

  11. Fattypotimus 😆

….I think the thunderbolt is the upcoming fixtures, but we’ll see I guess.

    Less is more, Nobby.

    (cue smutty jokes)

  12. Funny how Wraith and Bobby had their epiphanies within days of each other. Still convinced they’re the same person, or at least close relatives

  13. Cheers Dan. I’m just curious how it is run since I’m starting to think this charm offensive might be genuine. 😯

  14. Dan, I really can’t see that happening, and I’d rather it didn’t to be honest. Don’t need any prima donnas, and he seems like one to me. Over-rated too in my opinion. He’s done sweet FA since promotion from the Championship.

  15. MDS, I know, were not sued to all this, the fans being treated half decent 😆

Rod, yeah like I say I like him as a player but we have Ben Arfa, Vuckic, Marveaux and even Jonas who can or have played behind the striker and then with seemingly Maiga on his way in January he probably wouldn’t even make the bench.

  16. I ain’t seen him for yonks Toonsy.

Dan, I think the main reason he was such a key player for them in the Championship, was the fact that he was pretty much given a license to roam and do as he pleased. In other words, the whole team revolved around him. It doesn’t now, he’s not getting the ball passed to him all the time to shoot from wherever he likes, and he doesn’t like it. He’s not a team player.

  17. Nooooooo!

I am not going to congratulate you NorCal, I am jealous and didn’t want anyone else but myself to win.

Some may say I am a sore loser, they’d be 100% correct 👿

  18. Moreno – I wanted it myself but I’d feel a bit shitty if I setup a competition, set the question, answered it, then picked me as the winner 😆

  19. Appreciate the congrats. Rod, I think this one I will keep for mesel like.

No hard feeling, Moreno, I understand…looks like a nice scarf indeed. I can’t wait to bring it with me the next time I actually get over to England and up to SJP.

  20. BB…wrong attitude. You should be happy that a non-Geordie has chosen to support the Toon. Of all the clubs in England (and the world for that matter), the club that I love and follow is Newcastle United.

Tell ya what, if I ever get back there (HOPE, HOPE, HOPE), I’ll let you wear it for a minute.

And in all honesty, I am REALLY excited about this scarf. I can’t wait to get it.

  21. Ha Ha Norcal. I was only joshing like, but I am jealous too.
I hope you enjoy it and get to wear it at a match soon my friend.
Oh and imo if you want to support the Toon, after all the recent **** at the club, then it must be in your blood, so you ARE a Geordie. Welcome along.
     😆 😆 😉
