Game on! Manchester City v Newcastle – Sammy and Benny start!

Welcome to the Etihad?
It feels like an eternity since I’ve last written this bit, so welcome one and all to the ‘Game On’ article which will take us through every twist and turn of the match against Manchester City.

In a season that has been full of first real tests, the game against Mancini’s title-chasing outfit provides with another as we go toe to toe with the superstars of the Etihad Stadium.

There is an edge to this game today. Whilst a lot of Newcastle fans aren’t expecting much apart from a decent performance, there are some other interesting sideshows that could develop today. The first one being Hatem Ben Arfa who will revisit the scene of his horror injury for the first time since Nigel de Jong put him out of the game for a year. The other one being an unbeaten record that both teams possess, with only one being the overwhelming favourite to hold that accolade come around 5pm this afternoon.

This is a match that needs little build up. The task is huge and the odds are against us, but we’ve dealt with that already this season and at the end of the day it’s only 11 v 11 on a little grass field. Simple, yet true.

If you fancy having a look at some impressive stats, potential team news, injury updates and a bit more background to the fixture then why take a look at Shamrock’s fantastic match preview article here. Honestly, it’s a cracking read.

In terms of streaming, the match is on numerous overseas channels so picking one up should be easy enough. Once again the emphasis is on the word ‘should’ as trying to grab a stream can sometimes be hard work. However, should you stumble across a good one then make sure you leave a link for it so others can share it.

That just about wraps it up for me and now we must leave it to our boys to write the rest with their actions at the Etihad this afternoon.

Howay the lads!

  1. Mark

Raylor isn’t a midfielder. He says he’s a right back. At Wigan he played left back a lot. He was bought as a fullback.

  2. @bigDave I believe he IS a left back now. Simpson is a right back but looks just as comfortable as Raylor imo

  3. was never a decent fullback in my eyes. I’m sure he played in midfield a few times for wigan.(cud be wrong tho) Hes a decent leftback now tho

  4. They really are an excellent side these days. I have to say, apart from the double horror show by Raylor – our boys have done pretty well today. I have nothing to suggest we cant compete with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal for 6th spot if we get a couple of decent signings in this January and dont lose anybody significant…

  5. Well at least we’re trying to get back into it. Fair play. Dangerous game though.

Once again showing spirit. Well done lads!

  6. Simpson is a terrific look footballer but just lacks the football brain to be really international class.

    Batty,
Is it not fair to say if a player is havig a poor game. Unfortunately for Raylor he should come off this game.

  7. Batty – But is it not fair to say that a certain player has had a shocker? Otherwise we may aswell just have 14 players and that’s it. This is why we have a squad 🙂

  8. If you look at legitimate chances, and considering we are the away team against the odds on title favourites. We have done ourselves very proud.
    Individual errors apart.
Would like on goal as a morale booster though.

  9. No shame in this, surely there would be something wrong if a team who had this amount of dosh spent on it didn’t win more or less every game and thrashed Man U in the process. We need to get changes made to avoid conceding further and give ourselves chances to pull a consolation back….oh ****….game over now

  10. Thats it….. sorry to be so dark but lets hope it stays 3-0 and we divint get embarassed like manure

  11. Why so many idiotic mistakes today? Ridiculous. We have been poor at both ends today. It’s a shame because everything we have done up to now will be discredited now, when it truth we have been value for at least a couple of goals.

  12. Spencer – The bigger question should be, where was Raylor? Jonas got skinned at left-back, Ben Arfa covered, so where was your hero?
