Happy New Year! And Happy Anniversary too!

Happy New Year!
Well that’s it for another year as we wave goodbye to 2011 and welcome in the year of 2012.

All the very best to all of you and may 2012 be a most prosperous year for everyone!

Jobey07 has already penned a rather excellent NUFC review of the year which you can read by clicking here so instead of looking at Newcastle United I’m going to take a look at this site. After all, it celebrates it’s first birthday when the New Year rolls in and I think it’s fair to say that the first year has been a roaring success.

In our first year we’ve published 1,449 articles from a number of different writers. Some have been pretty prolific, like Jobey who has written over 100 articles for the site, while others chip in as and when their time allows them to. Every single one of them though is very much appreciated and the site would be nothing without so many people willing to chip in with an article here and there. After all, it’s the articles which drive people to the site.

We’ve got 1,025 followers on Twitter which is not too shabby in a year, followed up by 571 followers on Facebook. That number would have been higher had I kept the Facebook profile box all year but I had to ditch it off to help resolve some server issues. Incidentally those issues have now been fixed so the box has returned and we’ve started gaining more followers again. You can follow us on Twitter or Facebook by clicking the icons in the top left corner of the ‘blog.

In terms of visiting, the site has been visited a total of 1,937,345 times (as of yesterday) with pages of the site viewed a total of 4,681,092 times (again as of yesterday) with visitors from 188 countries around the globe. Not bad for a debut year and the most promising thing is that the figures are going UP and not down.

So what will 2012 bring? Well on a personal note it will bring a Son or Daughter into my life which I’m looking forward to immensely. On a ‘blog note I’m thinking more of the same, which is news, views, opinion, debate, interviews, banter, match coverage and plenty more NUFC related stuff along the way.

Happy New Year!

  4. youve got to love the sunday Sun

“No loan move for injured Nile Ranger ”

NILE Ranger will NOT be going out on loan again. The striker has a broken bone in his foot that will rule him out until at least March – and that means no temporary switch for the troubled teenager before the end of the season.

you don’t say!?! surely a broken foot wont stop a footballer going out on loan..lol

  7. Apparently QPR are linked with Samba for 6mill & Chelsea are linked with Cahill for 7mill. I assume wages or age have put us off or maybe we’d rather keep Colo and are near to agreeing a deal??

We’ve been linked with Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa..

Have we offered Colo a deal and he hasnt signed it yet? I doubt we’ll offer him another, hope we don’t leave it too long or we could end up with a cheap replacement when Samba or Cahill would of done…

  8. Dave – I thought the new shirt sponsor was going to be Virgin Money, but it cant be announced yet as they are under investigation over the takeover deal of Northern Rock.

  9. Happy new year to all who post on here. Toonsy has indeed created a very good blog that creates many excellent debates no matter what it pertains to about the club.
We all may not agree with each other or get along in typing terms but behind the scenes I’m quite sure we are all as one in our full and loyal love for NUFC.

I look forward to who we bring in with the 25 million we have to spend and I look forward to a nice strong finish to the season where we can all rejoice and look forward into the future with a renewed outlook on our fortunes, to the good.

For all those who have kept a positive outlook and also those who have kept a very even approach, I salute you.

For all those that can’t see any good coming out of the club, I’d like you all to stand up now and strip to your underpants and slightly push your **** to the side to is just peeps out of the leg elastic.
There is no reason at all for me saying this, it’s just that I couldn’t think of anything else to say really.

Just kidding lads, happy new year to you all and to those who think I’m a loop or I get on your tits, giz a kiss and a cuddle as I still love yea. 😆

  10. I agree with a lot of the comments in that yes it is possible to get a european place this season, but that given the squad we have it would need a lot of strengthening in the summer if we did.

the starting 11 as has been mentioned a solid spine in Krul, Colo, Saylor, Tiote, Cabaye, & Ba. and the bench has Williamson & Guthrie on it. However that leaves 5 players to strengthen the starting 11, and several more to provide the strength in depth the squad would need. However with a few pre-contract agreements for the summer and some of those fringe players stepping up it may be possible.

Remember that at the start of the season we were aiming top 10 and hoping to be best of the rest. Given results so far we are entitled to look up.

On the LFC game I backed the idea of Vuckic in 4-4-1-1 as Vucic is HBA’s natural backup and is more likely to be part of the midfield than HBA.

How far away is our squad, 2 full backs, 2CBs, 1 Wide MF, 1 Striker.
