The goal you’ve all been waiting to see!

Well you’ve been waiting for a while to see it now, and I’m guessing some of you have already seen it, but if you haven’t, or if you just want to see it again, take a look at this!

Ben Arfa vs Blackburn with Radio Newcastle…

It really was a special goal. You don’t see goals like that in the Premier League really such is the nature of the game, but that was a goal that Lionel Messi would have been proud of. So what does Ben Arfa do? Dedicate it to the fans!

“That goal was for the fans, they have stuck by me for a long time through injury,” Hatem told the Chronicle. “I try to give everything for them.”

Short and to the point I guess. Meanwhile Alan Pardew described Ben Arfa’s wonder strike as the best goal he’s ever seen.

“It was the best goal – technically – that I have ever seen,” Pardew said briefly.

However Ben Arfa’s goal wasn’t the only one of the game yesterday. In truth Jonas Gutierrez’s strike wasn’t too shabby either. A cheeky chip over the ‘keeper after some neat build up and interplay is not to be sniffed at. Take a look at the other goals (and THAT goal again!) from the match yesterday.

Newcastle vs Blackburn – FA Cup (07/02/2012)

The win puts us in Round 4 of the competition for which the draw will be made this afternoon. We’re ball No 23 by the way so keep your eyes peeled for that one.

I’m just going to keep watching that goal in the meantime….

  1. Cracking goals from both our boys… Benny’s was unbelievable, how he kept it so close without triping over was outstanding….

I wonder tho, what would have happened if a Chicken Plucker had kicked his foot, would he have taken a dive 😉 😉 😆

On the other hand, would we have been saying that same think if he’d missed the shot 😯 😆

  2. Great goal no doubt, but a decent defender would just take him out.

What I find interesting in this clip is to watch the off the ball movement of the other players…
Look at Cabaye and even Best always trying to take up a position for a pass, or drawing defenders away from Ben Arfa…
Look at Shola Ameobi, standing still doing **** all trying his best to get in our own players way…
I honestly believe Shola is the shortest player to ever play ling term for the Toon. He doesn’t have a clue…

With Ba gone, Best and Ben Arfa are by far out best options up front. Don’t want to see Shola anywhere near the first team…

  3. He’s scoring more than I thought he would to be fair. That’s two in his last two appearances but the next question is whether this is a purple patch or a sign of things to come? History would suggest the former although goals like this are worth the entry fee alone IMO.

  4. For all the criticism of Match of the day, it is light years better than ITV’s presentation. To think I stayed up till after 12 to watch 45 seconds of magic when I only needed to wait for this site to see it over and over (and over 😀 ) again this morning. Thanks.

  5. Toonsy, thats the question .. im hoping now that Ba is out of the way, HBA wont feel the same pressure to produce in order to get game time and will settle down and hit some good form .. its a great goal where one player drew the focus of the entire 22 players and the ball appears to be stuck on a small length of string to his foot .. great to watch ..

  6. a bit off subect like, but I’d like to see Ashley’s stewards get these heed-the-balls to sit down ! 😆 😆

Oh for the days of terracing…. 🙁

Howay the lads !…wor name is on the cup… 😆

  7. Loving the jealous SMB’s on readytogo forum talking about this goal.

All the normal stuff, we are delusional, not even a good goal never mind goal of the round.

They really are sour, inbred, dirty cunts aren’t they.

I couldn’t give a flying **** about derby day and wish they would disappear for good.

  8. Evil…aye, just this second come off there, I’d hurl some abuse but can’t be bothered setting up yet another new email account 😆

  9. Don’t know why I’m so ecstatic today, after all we had to rely on the flippin radio yesterday…don’t want too much more of that stuff… 🙁
Perhaps it’s down to the fact that we are in the next round of the cup, and it looks like, based on his wonder goal, HBA may be fully over his career-threatening injury and that can only be good for NUFC. Another plus is that we did the business without our two stars Tiote and Ba…

  10. Regarding the booing of Obertan. Maybe we need to recast the bloke in another roll. Maybe he isn’t a winger in the attacking Ryan Giggs, Alan Johnson type of roll, who runs at players, and puts crosses in, although he can obviously do that at times. Maybe he is more of a Jonas type of winger/wing back, who puts in a defensive performance too, while keeping the full back busy. Obertan doesn’t seem to have tricky feet as such, but seems to be blessed with great pace, which is a good asset to have.

There again, I don’t go to the matches, and have to rely on internet broadcasts. The blokes who go regularly to the games know a lot better. I’m not trying to defend the bloke, just trying to perhaps see beyond the supposed booing of the bloke…and wonder if it is justified…

  11. MM….Playing devil’s advocate though, it took an injury time winner at home v the team bottom of the league playing a weakened line up 😉 …..but any sort of win and being in the hat is what counts

  12. I thought he was greedy. Best took up a great position just before Barfa scored. Best was gutted and rightly so. It’s a team game. 😯

      (Quote)

  13. RT@17…I agree 100% mate, by all accounts it wasn’t pretty stuff, but we’re in the next round, and that’s what counts.
At the same time the result shouldn’t paper over the cracks, as you said we struggled at times yesterday.
Maybe we needed to digest the Man Utd win, both the players and fans. I still think it was fabulous win yesterday, Pardew seems to have instilled an amazing never-say-die attitude into the team… 🙂 🙂

  14. MM…the couple of games I went to it was more his decision making, when to release the ball, when to cross/pass etc. He often creates the opening to whip an easy ball in and doesn’t take it, so when he does try to cross or pass the defender is there or has recovered and so the chances of him succeeding with the pass/cross reduce dramatically and make him look a poorer player than I think he is.

  15. Munich…..Aye, we can’t play well all the time but it’s always the score at the final whistle that’s the most important thing. 😀

      (Quote)

  16. Troy…I saw you had Stu on the ropes yesterday, but Stardy had you ducking and weaving at times… 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  17. Munich…aye, about 20c, although I keep getting telt that that the weather is unusually mild for this time of year 😎

      (Quote)

  18. Troy thank fuk he was greedy then as I wouldn’t like to be relying on Best, according to the radio Johno said he had an open net but waited for the ball to come to him instead of him going to get the ball, giving the defender time to clear it.

      (Quote)

  19. That is the worst highlight reel i’ve ever seen! The itv commentator sounds like a rapper he is talking so fast!
Ah well, through to the next round, maybe we’ll get a whole 50 seconds of coverage time for the next match.

I’m back to think Ben Arfa has about 5 games to prove himself as a second striker otherwise we should give him a run on the left/right wing.
He is a player too talented to leave out but if he isn’t connecting well enough with the team is it worth changing our whole shape and style of play for ❓
I don’t think it is. I think whilst Ba is away we have a few games to see how he can take to playing off the striker. If it doesn’t suit him I think revert back to the formation we have been playing best in, 4-4-2, and fit him into that on the wing. Remember most of his career teams won’t have changed their whole system for him and he would have been played out wide.

  20. @MM

I just ignore Stardy. He’s a pugnosed gimp and has no credibility.
Have you ever met him? What an odious little creature he is. 😛

  21. I reckon Barfa looks the double of Abeid when on the pitch. If they give both players the same number we could play with 12 players as long as the kept themselves apart on the pitch.

Has Pards thought of that? 😛

  22. Just enjoy the goal as it was class remember we were 1-0 down and going out of the cup….!! at which point during the 9 seconds it took putting the ball into the net could a class defender take him out without giving a pen away…? enjoy the goal and win and stop trying to pick faults with it!! tools….!!

      (Quote)

  23. c@MunichMag that’s the key to Pardew’s approach, the big weakness of the team is the full backs which is why he has doubled them up with Jonas and Obertan as wingbacks. Santon replacing Taylor is already releasing Jonas and a stronger right back (or a strong left back and Santon on the right) would mean we could afford a less disciplined, more creative right winger ie Ben Arfa. If only we still had Jose on the left and Santon on the right!

  24. Itv should never get the rights to any football and certainly the FA cup which will forever be associated with the beeb, Coleman and Motson commentating on cup finals are some of my earliest memories of football and itvs **** coverage with breaks every two minutes takes the ****.

Also why the **** do itv think we want supposed “celebrities” doing the cup draw when it used to be former winners or finalists, If they wonder why the attendances are low and prestige of the cup is on its **** then they should have a look in the mirror…

    ‘kin twats 👿

  25. CC – ESPN also have to take some of the blame IMO. You can’t have the FA Cup on a subscription service IMO. I know the final is free to air, but to me the whole competition should be. Then again I guess the £££ isn’t right for that. Cynical? Moi? 😯

    Krul

    Simmo Colo Willo Santon

    R.Taylor Tiote Cabaye HBA

    Ba Best

You can’t argue that he could and should have passed to Best who was free on the line instead of being greedy? 😯

I’ve analysed the goal and as he takes it into the box, he actually scuffs the ball and is fortunate to get past the defender.

I’m not saying it’s a poor goal but very fortunate and a tad greedy. He scored though which is the main thing. 😯

      (Quote)

  31. Dan@49…you almost had me fooled there, that’s not you and your mate, it’s Cheik Tiote and some other blokes 😆

Good Vid…not so sure about the music, something from the 70’s or 80’s would have been better 😉 ……or some dame Vera Lynn or George Formby for Ice 😆

  32. @Steve

If you don’t like the truth then tough.

The facts are, you are trying to big up a goal that if scrutinised by a footballing brain it is actually pretty ordinary.

First, he gets the ball and it takes him 2 touches to control it. He runs with no direction or speed and is not challenged properly but more like ushered into the box. He scuffs the ball and is fortunate to pass the defender, before shooting and taking a huge risk which was nothing but selfish as he had Best in a terrific position who would guarantee a goal.
If it was not for the inadequate goalkeeping skills, flapping around like a fruit bat then it would have missed.

I can see it, everyone else can see but you can’t. 😯

You haven’t even comeback with a challenge at my valid points.

I understand you want Barfa to do well. We all do.

But facts or facts, it was a half decent goal that should have been better and if you were at the match you would have seen the linesman rule it offside but it was overruled by the ref.
That’s the trouble, he always drifts offside even when he has the ball. I just don’t see how you can’t see it. 😯

  38. Paul Scholes on bench today for manure 😯
He has signed a contract until the end of the season.

  39. HITMAN,i wouldnt worry about BA mate, even the so called £10mil buy oot in contract, yes managers want him but what they all say he wouldnt pass a medical dont think the money whizzs at the club would risk it,we did as he was on a free, thats my take on it anyway

Just one last point. I was in the Gallowgate end at the front and I could hear all the players shouting to Barfa, pass to Best! Pass to Best!
I clearly heard Barfa shout, I’m taking myself, I don’t trust any of you’s!

For me that is not teamwork! 😯

      (Quote)

  41. Scholes 😯 Was shocked to see that.

Maybe they aren’t after Tiote now? 😉

On a serious note, do they not have the cash they once had or something? Seems a strange move considering they could (well, allegedly) buy pretty much anyone, and certainly a younger player.

      (Quote)

  42. Dave…I didn’t slag Benny’s goal though 😉 ..I did say about the performance, but also said I was playing devils advocate so I’m assuming Steve didn’t mean me……..that said I am a bit of a tool so I could be wrong 😆
