Should we be prepared for Ba to leave?

Ba listening to offers?
The whole Demba Ba contract clause thing just isn’t going away is it?

I mean Harry Redknapp has been at it again today and claims that the release clause is less than the £7 million that has been previously quoted. I won’t go on a rant about him chatting about players contracted to other clubs too much. It’s unethical but hey ho. I expect nothing less from him so I can’t say I’m surprised.

The easy way to put a stop to it is for the club to come out and say something. On one hand, why should they have to say anything? On the other though it would clarify things once and for all. I’d hazard a guess on their silence being louder than any words would be however. There is almost certainly a clause in his contract, but what the clause is remains unconfirmed. Arguably as it should be…

Should we be bracing ourselves for the departure of Demba Ba though? Perhaps not now, but maybe in the summer? With the striker fluttering his eyelashes towards PSG and a whole host of interested suitors thanks to his supreme start to life at Newcastle Ba will have no shortage of options, especially if he is available at a knockdown price.

It’s easy to resolve of course, well, relatively easy anyway. Give Demba a new contract that reflects his ability. He’s proven that he can cut the mustard so there is an argument for the club giving him a contract that can reflect that which is a risk when you consider his knees. It’s a risk that another club will be willing to take however, of that I have no doubt.

I honestly don’t believe that Demba Ba is here for the long haul anymore. We’ll be lucky to get through January with him still in black and white and that, I feel, is only down to his participation in the African Cup of Nations.

I have no expectation of loyalty from any player anymore. Andy Carroll ended that particular train of thought for me. Ba will go where the best offer is, which you can’t blame him for really. We’d all do it. He may be happy on Tyneside at the moment, but I imagine he could be just as happy anywhere else. He’s not like us and doesn’t have an affinity to the area – it’s just a job. Plus you have to question just how long he intended staying around for anyway with such a release clause in his contract?

Make the most of it while you can!

  1. Way it’s all getting a bit tetchy on here innit. Anyone would think it was January. 😀

  2. DJG….nobody should have had to get those players fired up, it was a spineless, gutless, heartless performance from the players….but as I said@197, he may or may not be a good manager, but those 8 games don’t tell anybody anything imo.
Anyhoo, how come ya not on so much these days?

Kim..God knows, I’d have better luck predicting the lottery numbers than Predicting what Ashley would or would not have done under those circumstances.

  3. DJG you cannot judge al on the 8 games, have you never thought the players didnt give a **** apart from a few,a blind man could see it,what could he do with guys like that,al had already had a meeting with jabba with a list who should be moved out what more could he do,think you are being harch imo

  4. NO DAVE ITS THE PREVIOUS MANAGERS WHO DOLED OUT STUPIDLY HIGH WAGES FOR PLAYERS WHO WERE NOT RIGHT FOR THE CLUB + DINT GIVE A ***** ABOUT OUR CLUB WHICH IS THE REASON WHY MA WONT JUST PAY THE MILLIONS AND MILLIONS YOU WANT HIM TO SPEND – IT TAKES TIME TO FIND THE RIGHT PLAYER AT THE RIGHT PRICE AND IF YOU LOOK AT OUR RECENT TRACK RECORD IT IS F UCKING EXCELLENT – SO IF THE RIGHT PLAYER ISNT AVAILABLE NOW HE WONT BUY HIM SUCK IT UP

  5. TP @ 222 that tells me all I need to know about you, I will try to refrain from speaking down to you like a total fuking muppet. but it seems to me that rather than admit that Jabba was in the wrong you find it easier to get on like a keyboard warrior and try to abuse me on the internet. you must be a real hard man and im sure your really proud of yersel 😳

  9. Keith….I agree with you about the worry about them leaving, I’m saying the quality of ours is way above theirs and therefore will be in demand more. Which of those players you’ve named would you swap for Colo, Tiote, Krul, cabaye, Ba?

      (Quote)

  10. Richitoon@ , those players are top 4 players as are some of ours our club is in a good financial position theres is not , there players are more likely to stay than ours why do you think this is !
and i would swap tiote for baines but as a nufc fan i know ma would not buy a player like baines and will sell tiote .

  11. Dave…aye, I can’t wait for it to shut. Absolutely detest the transfer window now like 👿

      (Quote)

  12. Keith…They are more likely to stay because no one is after them, if the top 4 want them and go for them, they will more than likely get them, as Arsenal did with Arteta, I wouldn’t swap Tiote for Baines, A) because I want Tiote to stay, and B) because I think Santon will be better 😉

      (Quote)

  13. @RICHITOON , arteta took a pay cut and left for football reasons ,
A , i want tiote to stay but imo he wont !
carroll never went to a top four side neither did nolan or barton !
Fact is we are more likely to sell our top players than other clubs and that is down to MA and we are in a better financial position than most !
spurs everton stoke all good examples of teams that can hold on to talent .

  14. Richie I just havn’t got the spare time I used to what with work. I’ll be on tomorow though 😉 ….

Watch it will be dead now tomorow. 🙂

  15. Keith….aye, football reasons as in a top 4 club came for him 😉
My only point is our players will have more interest shown because they are better than Stokes or Evertons imo.
We can agree on one thing though, Fatman is’orrible and can’t be trusted 😉

  16. DJG…it’ll be dead now that you’ve let everyone know you’ll be on. 😉 😆

  18. IM SHOUTING COS I DON’T THINK I WILL BE HEARD OVER POOPSY. 😛

I went away having putting Poopsy in his shoe box and he sneaked back on. 😯

What Troy’s away Poopsy will play. 😛

Good job Dave was there to put him back in. 😛

Let’s pick up where we left off Poopsy on this thread so we don’t spoil the new one.

    So, first. The Spurs debate.;
Despite me stating the fact that Spurs are bigger, AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME, does not mean I support them.
That would mean I support Man City which I don’t.
That argument was settled by the bloggers who backed me up and put you back in your box. 😛

The debate yesterday was firmly settled when I finished last night. It was getting embarrassing for you.
I don’t believe I could make it any clearer, in that, morals and class count for a lot. Jabba and Dastardly Derek have none.
They won’t ever challenge the top teams for a CL place, ever, whilst he’s in charge.

This window wil prove my point. The need for a quality striker was evident last summer. The money was there and they didn’t use it.
We now go into the new year with a weakened frontline again. If we get further injuries to our second choice strikers, we are really struggling.

You miss the obvious over and over again.
    😛

  19. Morals and Class are important qualities in life to most, but it would seem not so important to toonpipes, the fact that he thought the way Jabba and co treated one of our legends was ok and that he wasn’t really concerned by it, because its not a nice world 😆 tells me that he himself doesn’t have many morals or much class.
That’s even before you take into account his outburst of childish namecalling and abuse, simply because he couldn’t answer a straight question, imo because it would make Jabba and Co look like low lifes, so he must have thought it was easier to treat a toon legend like ***** and abuse me all in the same breath.
As I said that tells me all I need to know about Toonpipes, and proves to me I was wrong in thinking that he was one of the more decent bloggers .

    😉

To be fair, prior to the yesterday, I always found Poopsy a decent blogger who had a sense of humour. I have no problem with him calling me as I do it to him but always lighthearted and a twinkle in the eye.
He defends his point of view, albeit the wrong viewpoint 😛 with passion which is fair enough.

BUT, you never resort to abuse and in turn, the fact he’s done so shows he’s lost the argument and has had to resort to it because he couldn’t answer your question with credibility.

Well done Dave , you boxed his lugs like you were using a speedball. 😛

  21. Batts @ 204 i’m on me phone so don’t have the comment numbers 😕 did I say owt bad ?

Troy there is nowt wrong with the lighthearted banter on here and it’s one of the good things about this blog. But I do get worked up at times with some bloggers comments but I try to refrain from abusing fellow bloggers as any kid can do that on the internet, if I have problems with people I tend to tell them to their face, I have never said owt to anyone on any blog that I wouldn’t say to their face, unless they are just the wum’s that we get coming on here from time to time from other blogs just to try to cause ****.

  22. Dave….@204 you said, “although I wouldn’t dare say this to your face, I can say it from the safety of my computer…Batty you’re a c@nt” 😯 😯 😉 😆
