Smith set for MK Dons move

Smith off to Stadium MK?
Alan Smith is on the verge of joining League One outfit MK Dons on loan until the end of the season according to the Chronicle.

However keep your party hats dry for now as Newcastle will still be paying 96% of his wages according to Sky Sports.

That means that we’ll have shed the princely sum of £2,400 a week from our wagebill based on Smith’s rumoured wage of £60,000 a week from us. That isn’t a lot in fairness and it looks as though we’ll have to wait his contract expires in the summer before we can get rid of his wage fully and put it to, well, put it to better use to be perfectly honest.

Smith is about as far down the pecking order at NUFC as you can get, mainly because he has lost it as a Premier League player. He’s not been the same since he broke his ankle against Liverpool in 2006 but Sam Allardyce still went ahead and signed him. For £6m!

I know some people moan about Smith and mention his wages, but I don’t have an issue with that. It’s not his fault he was offered 60k a week and he is within his rights to pick it up. Fortunately it shouldn’t be an issue again thanks to our transfer policy. I wonder if Alan Smith is still Mike Ashley’s favourite player these days?

So that’s the end of the road for Smith then, and I’d like to thank him for playing a role in our promotion back to the Premier League. He’s also been a model professional in his time here and hasn’t been in any trouble or attracted any headlines and he is also pretty good to have around the training ground going by what the other players say. Unfortunately, he’s just not good enough to get anywhere near our team anymore.

Good luck Smudge. I hope you enjoy the football you’ll be getting and I hope you help MK Dons achieve their aim of promotion to the Championship.

Goodbye Alan.

  1. To be fair to dalglish, he has the team working hard. Carroll is trying to emulate Bellamy by sprinting. 😯

  5. For the sake of £2,500 a week ,wouldn’t you think that smith would say to the MK Dons, “it’s ok , I’ll play for nothing and just forfeit the £2,500 as I’m getting £57,500 from Newcastle.

  6. Robert…I’ll have a trawl through youtube later to see if I can find it and if it rings a bell.

  7. I find that going to the gymn wearing a lumberjacket and hiking boots with wool socks pulled over them helps me concentrate on the task as hand.

It also helps my balance if I carry an axe over my shoulder whilst singing the lumberjack song, the young fit lasses love it and you can see a damp patch appear in their navy blue tight ammonia smelling gymn shorts.

It makes me feel really good to know that I make them dribble and damp down when they watch me in action.

Last year, I never pulled once and no fit birds would look at me and I couldn’t understand why until I realised that wearing black plimsoles and white ankle socks with Stanley Mathews shorts and string vest just wasn’t classy in their eyes.

You live and learn eh. 😀

  8. STEVE, I’m in Brighton now in a cafe, I set off at 6 am.
I’m gonna have this coffee then have a look round for some public toilets, see if I can get a bit of *** action as the Brighton lads are real honeys. 😉

  9. @WOLFIE: So no matter whether loserfool wins or lose the final, they are definitely in europa? 👿

      (Quote)

  10. ANGEL,if Cardiff win the carling cup, then Liverpool don’t qualify for Europa, they only qualify if they win it as runner up counts for nothing in that cup, it only counts in the FA cup assuming the winner of the FA cup have already qualified by other means.

      (Quote)

  11. Angel-they will be in Europe, they’re welsh but they play in the English league system unlike the really shitty welsh teams who play in the europa league and lose 20-0 in their first match 😉

  12. Okay,i get it now.. So the runner up rules only applies to FA CUP.hmm.

    Here’s wishing cardiff city wins.hahaha

  13. STEVE, I’m wearing leathers, I actually resemble that bloke who sang YMCA, except I’m wearing a Newcastle scarf round my wrist and I’ve split the **** in me leather trousers as they’re tight and a nightmare to pull down for a quick bumming in the Brighton public toilets.
This way they can just pull my thong aside , slam me up against the white grubby tiles on the wall and bang. 😆

  14. Later the next round draw winner of this loserfool vs man crappy match will face chelsea or qpr i will LOL. 😯 🙄

  15. I think Man Utd will win this tie. I can’t stand them but equally I can’t stand Liverpool either. 😀

  16. Alan Smith, Kieran Dyer….

Players who flaunted for a few years in the big time, but who’s careers then ended as quickly as they began. Pity really…..

Alan Smith peaked internationally while with Leeds, domestically while at Man Utd….once he joined the toon things had to go down hill after that unfortunately.

You cannot blame the bloke for sitting tight and picking up the wedge.
It is also obvious that the desire to play first team football wan’t so great after all otherwise he would have been offski a lot quicker. 👿

His final move will be a big earner in Orlando playing for some MSL team…

  17. If we are all totally honest with ourselves, if we were all sitting on a 60 grand a week contract with no chance of moving on for anything like that wage, we would all just go about our business, keeping fit and ready to play but moving nowhere until our contracts finished.

The fact that Smith can go to MK Dons and get the same wage whilst playing out his contract is a great move for him but if he had any ounce of thought for a smaller club like that he should waive his £2,500 wage as it’s no great shakes against his massive wage.

  18. RICHIE, I hope you haven’t been mooching through my stash of tranny porn magazines at the back of my wardrobe under my high heeled shoe boxes. 😯

  19. Does anyone think Smith persistence of not playing upfront has ended his own career. ❗

He simply can’t make it as a DM. He is trained with an attacking mind.

      (Quote)

  20. ANGEL. I think Smiths’ career was ruined the minute Alex Ferguson changed his role.
He was never prolific anyway as a forward but I agree that what he did have, he lost by being played in the role Ferguson gave him.

His problem is, he isn’t very mobile so is always left wanting and is not geared for the speed of the game now.

      (Quote)

  21. Can we not try and sell him back to Allardyce at Wet Spam, surely he’s capable of daft things like that, he did it once!

Or get them to pay half his wage or whatever.

  22. As an MK Dons fan I am extremely excited by the prospect of Smith joining, He may not be up to your standard, but signing an ex England and Man United play is a great achievement on our behalf. The experience and excitement he will bring to the dressing room will be phenomenal, we were all excited enough by Clinton Morrison! It must be said though, he will probably be in the top 5 highest paid players at the Dons if he gets the rumoured 2-3k/week.

      (Quote)

  23. Wolfie….aye 😀

Blackwell… I think he’ll do a good job for you as long as he doesn’t get a red card getting carried away, after not playing for so long.

      (Quote)

  24. BLACKWELL, if he gets his BMX out and does a few stunts for the fans before a game, it will excite the crowd I agree.

As soon as he starts playing with a football, then look down at your bovril and pie and remember, it’s those small things that’s helping to pay his wages.

After the game, you will probably decide not to buy a bovril and pie for the next game because you will know that he’s trousering some of that on the back of a few BMX tricks before games. 😉

  25. I feel that alan smith can still work well upfront but maybe a deep lying forward which doesn’t require him to move much.

But i must say,he is a great influence at background for the club for sure. For the youngster.

Fair enough but I wouldn’t get your hopes up all that much. You say signing an ex-England and Man United star. The thing is though what Smith had in his prime was lots of effort and workrate, that is what he brought to the table. After his injuries he is not an England class player. It’s not like your signing Ryan Giggs or something. Don’t get me wrong he will do a job for you but don’t expect flair or anything.

      (Quote)

  27. I don;t think Smith will do any better job than what the MK Dons have already on their books and I’m being serious.
He might add another 1000 to the crowd for a few games until they realise that Ashley has conned them out of £2,500 a week. 😆

      (Quote)

  28. It would be funny if he went to MK Dons and scored on his debut. Like Nicky **** going to Asia and becoming the free kick and penalty taker. 🙂

      (Quote)

  29. If we’re gonna pay 99% of his wages we should have sent him to Darlington to try and help them get the crowds they need to survive. 💡

  30. I see the racists are looking like going through to the next round. Disgrace!

Maxi should have been sent off too for a two footed tackle.

    Fcking hate them!

They don’t look very beatable at Anfield. 😕

  35. Hate them both, but I would rather the bindippers win cos then we may have more chance getting into europe….

Fook the winning goal was route one footy….A big welly up front from a goal kick, a flick on by lurch, and while Evra, the captain of Manure and France was waving at his lass in the stands Kuyt the cloggy smacked it into the bottom corner. For me, route one works every time 😉 😉 …beats this tappy lappy football… 😆

  37. Agree with Troy and Toonsy, nobody would walk away from 60k a week like.

I don’t even blame big Sam coz he only gives a list of players he wants then hands it to the board who offer the contracts. Our previous board signed up too many players on high wages with low motivation or little passion and desire to play for our club. Good luck to Smith but his wage will probs pay 2 new players wages.

Troy – I had a similar experience, but in reverse.
Went to the gym, speedo’d up. Done a couple of K on the mill, few sit ups, squats and lunges, worked up a canny sweat, as you do!
Thought right, time to freshen up so grabbed my wash and go (coz there’s nowt worse than having to take 2 bottles in) kicked my flip flops off and dived in the deep end… they went spazo!!
Apparently your supposed to use the showers!!

  39. That’s what I thought Kim, but was barred from the previous gym for that. They put some special solution in the water which makes it change colour when someone pees in it. Jumped in and set off swimming, turned round and I looked like one of those red arrows with the colour trail behind me.
You don’t get much for your membership fee nowadays like!!

  41. I hate those swimming pools where you jump in and have a sly poo in the water, not realising that they have put some stuff in the water that makes it float. 😯

  42. As for Smith he is past his best but has always gave 100% and thats all you can ask, I can’t blame him for running down his contract, he would be pretty stupid if he didn’t.

      (Quote)

  43. To be fair to smith he may be past it, but gets unfair stick, he was a great player in the championship, and played well until tiote came in.

Hitman- I dont bet on the FA cup, anything can happen!
