Blackburn 0-2 Newcastle – Match highlights and managerial interviews

Match highlights of the 2-0 over Blackburn Rovers for you now, followed by what the respective managers had to say after the game.

Alan Pardew was left praising his sides spirit after a win which by all accounts probably shouldn’t have been a win. James Perch as also the beneficiary of some praise after a cracking performance as the anchor man last night.

Meanwhile Steve Kean was left frustrated after watching his side waste a whole host of chances although he admits that he won’t have too much trouble picking his side up after the defeat given the way that his team played.

Howay the lads!

  1. MARK, I agree mate, when I wrote that, my blind deaf and dumb wife slapped the back of my head ans said…………

Well actually she didn’t say anthing, she just walked away and I’m wondering what she actually did slap the back of my head for. 😯

  4. IN DEFENCE OF KEITH

i dont post much but do read a lot.

the problem with guys like wolfie and Tinpops (no personal attack here) isnt that they are optimistic. hell, I predicted us to beat fulham 3 – 1..its just that they appear to be like those dumb republicans in the deep south of the US that support anything the govt do; and if you disagree or express an opinion that is anti government then you are un american and you should be ashamed of yourself.

its that attitude that grinds me.

I get the impression that MA could sell eryone in the summer and replace them with the kids and wolfie would write an essay as to how that is good for the club and is the way forward bla bla

And then if we anyone moaned about it TC would then tell us all to stop being ‘neggers’ and support the team bal bla!!

Geordies are passionate, even fickle..but we aint stupid. Unfortunately we will not be happy about everything the board does. At those times we will moan. This has no bearing WHATSOEVER on whether we support team or not.

  7. @nobby 😯 wot you talking about sucker!

I have an opinion m8, but I don’t hold grudges. I once hated MA now I can see the good he’s doing. Although I’m still unsure about his true intensions..

I once hated Joey Barton for signing for us, hated him some more for being a ****, then loved him when he was doing good for us, I couldnt believe we sold him, now I’m glad he’s gone 😆

lifes like a box of chocolates m8

  8. @wolfie , you want a straight answer from me but you won’t stand by what you said or admit you were wrong wow !
A better man admits his mistakes doesent he !
I was wrong about pardew !
Troy was wrong about tiote leaving !
And you were wrong wolfie about almost every thing you said !
Ill leave it now mark but howay man its not positive its just made up and misleading to the youngins .

You’re all over the roses, fluttering, not knowing where to settle. 😛

well if thats misleading Troyore had everyone believing we’d sell sell sell after talking to the 3legends, and some went along with him and his done deals.

You obviously love the toon m8 and can think for yourself but even I didnt believe we’d spent 25mill 😆

You couldn’t be more wrong about me mate.
Yes I’m an optimist and positive and both are not the same.

My optimism is like a lot of Toon fans in that I believe we can beat any team we play.
I believe we can win a cup or get into a champions league place at the start of every season until it becomes mathematically impossible to do so.
This is when I believe we have a team capable of doing so.

When we came up from the championship, I believed we would not be relegated and we would instead finish top 10…we almost did it but for W.B.A staging a miracle comeback.

My optimism doesn’t always turn into guarantees but I keep the faith until proven otherwise.

My positive attitude is simply taking any negatives out and throwing them aside and I will take a positive out of any negative thrown at me or debated.
Because I love my team, I have to defend them with any snippet I can whether we have played like **** or not as I will take a positive out of it but that’s just me.

What I don’t do, is slag people down for their opinions, I just counter argue it like they and you just have with me.

That’s what blogs and forums are for.

I’m also realistic as well to know that everything isn’t as rosy as is always made out and I know there are hiccups around every corner in football but I expect that.

The point is, I see progress at this club and I also saw what Ashley was trying to achieve, even in the early days and I’ve stated it many times over the years since he took over the club.

If Ashley came out and said ” well I’m off and I’m selling all the players and leaving the club in a **** load of debt to struggle”…I’d be the first to say he’s a **** and I’d been fooled.

It just isn’t gonna happen though and if he did leave, we would be in a stable, solid financial position to roll forward as long as the new owner carries on the vision.

Right now I couldn’t be happier with our owner and chairman and manager and players.

So what’s wrong with what I say then?

Many have a go at me and many take the **** but you don’t see me moaning as it’s part and parcel of views.

I boil your **** because I won’t stand down on my views basically.

      (Quote)

  12. @Troy 😆

Thats my opinion m8, How can anyone knock where we are now under MA, but I’ve always said he’ll walk away once he gets his dough back…look back at my pervious months comments.. thats why I say..I dont know his true intentions, nobody does..but I will enjoy it while I can..

      (Quote)

  13. wolfie you dont boil my **** at all. i go to most games and rarely hear guys think like you. maybe its refreshing. I was adamant at first you were joking/(or a macam) but now i know your not..and i respect your opinion.

it just seems to me like nothing MA does is wrong in your eyes..and if we believe them to be wrong then we are the bad people

fact is 90% of geordies will never ever see eye to eye with MA or DL for what they did (or didnt do in your opinion) to our club

but those same 90% will turn up week in week out singing our hearts out for the lads

      (Quote)

  14. MARK, that’s correct, no one knows what anyone’s true intentions are but reading between the lines and looking at what’s in front of us, it’s clear that everything is in shape rather than falling apart.
Some fans won’t accept that because they sit back waiting for the big crash.
Some are waiting for him to fail so they can say “I told you, I told you.”

I’m a fan of Newcastle because I love the club “FOR ME” 😀

Sorry for language but… Fucking stop it! 😯
    😆

    Wolfie

you ashley lover!!!! die die die!!!!

I love ashley me… especially now he’s lost weight.

‘Get out of our club you skinny cockney *******’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it. 😆

      (Quote)

  16. Wolfie, to give you credit, you do speak a lot of sense, but sometimes your judgement appears overly optimistic, and can make your posts seem too dream-like, or fuzzy-wuzzy as Troy would call it. I think you often get a bit carried away and your optimism turns into positivity exaggeration.
I think that grates on some fans. It doesn’t bother me, as a lot of what you say is level-headed.
…and I like your stupid stuff too. 😎

      (Quote)

  17. I remember someone used the ‘wife cheating on you’ analogy last year re: MA

sometimes you can forgive and try to move on

but you will never ever forget!

      (Quote)

  18. DOITFORSIRBOBBY@98

Mate, seriously I don’t care who hates Ashley, that’s their prerogative but when they give their reasons for hating him, I then counter debate it, giving my reasons why I think he’s the best owner we could have got.

Obviously mate , that is not going to sit well with the Ashley haters and I know that and I’ve been banned from forums for stating my opinions on it but I will not back down my stance on him because what I say, I say because I believe in what he’s doing.

      (Quote)

  19. DIFSB @104

Forget what though?.. i don’t want to feel like i’m ganging up on anyone here but… the way I see it, everytime Ashley did something ‘wrong’ I’d be pissed off about it for a couple of days but then i’d have a cup of tea, see the reason for it and realise how much it actually benfits us.

      (Quote)

  20. @Keith

bad good unsure wow what one is he?

I don’t like MA for all the **** he’s caused in the past, but I love the stuff he’s doing at the minute with the financial side of things and buying players that have propelled us to 5th but I’m unsure what his true intentions are for the future..to make millions out of by selling players, to **** off once he’s received all of his lolly back?, to use the toon for a massive SD drive and dominate the world Does anyone know his true intentions? Do you?? 😯

so, a bit of all really 😉

But please understand geordies do not like MA

therefore when you come in with all your lovey duffy MA stuff you gonna get abused!!

  23. Anyone reckon we can go the rest of the season unbeaten, score a shed load of goals and end up with 70+ points. ?

      (Quote)

  24. nobby please dont make me go into how MA has hurt my fellings in the last 4 years

    pleeeaaasseeee

      (Quote)

  25. ROD@102, I agree, I’m very optimistic, in-fact yep, I’m ULTRA optimistic and I can see how it can come across to some people as dream world.
The fact is though, it is dreamworld stuff because that’s what being a football fan is…dreaming about winning the FA cup…the league…the champions league..and we all (if we are honest) dream about it being our season, every season of winning something, even if it’s praying to the Gods or stroking your lucky *****….I mean your lucky charm…it’s all what we dream.

When someone says to me “oh, you play Man Utd at Old Trafford, what do you think the score will be” I will say ” well, think it’ll be our day and I think we will beat them 3 or 4 nil and they will get Rooney sent off”…..something along those lines…
Now do I believe that? NO

Do I hope that it will happen? YES

    Possibility….YES
    Probability….Doubtful
    Certainty………nope..

As for Ashley, it isn’t fuzzy wuzzy dream world, it’s looking at the wider picture and standing back to get a proper view of it all and without dreaming and instead looking at it realistically, I can only see the club moving forward.

That’s just the way it is.
The fact is, I don’t want to slag down the team, the owners or anything about the club if I can see positive things coming from it, even through errors and dark areas.

  26. @Troyore

are you not happy with us being 5th?
are you not happy we’ve replaced mercenaries with young, hungry, skillful players?
are you not happy with our two new strikers?
are you not happy we did do as the 3legends told u and sold Krul and Tiote? 😉

all under MA’s ownership, correct? so are you not happy what MA has done for us and his club? 😆

  27. PREMANDUP@114
It’s possible and if we win a few games and draw a few, then it becomes PROBABLE and it we mange to get to the last game, then it’s more than likely.
It’s nice to hold out hope though and I don;t see a defeat no matter who we play, until it happens and then I go on from there. 😀

      (Quote)

  28. Prem – I think 60 points would be an incredible achievement.

That would mean roughly 6 wins, 3 draws and 4 defeats from our remaining 15 games.

    Definitely possible.

      (Quote)

  29. Having just gone through our remaining fixtures I came up with W6, D4, L5 leaving us on 61 points.

      (Quote)

  30. Ok – Here’s my stance on Ashley.

A lot of the time ‘we can forgive but not forget’ and similar phrases gets banded around here.

Forget what though?… Really… What? I’m sure people against this comment will have lots of answers to the ‘forget what’ question and so i’ll guess a few and if you think of more i’m sure i’ll be able to retort.

    – Keegans Sacking
For me the hiring of keegan was the mistake, but every owner is going to come up with them kind of mistakes at some point expecially if they don’t know anything about football (which they don’t… but they’re learning) but you can’t blame them for not knowing anything about football.

The same reasoning behind this explains dennis wise and Joe kinnear.

    – Relegation
That’s a by-product of item 1 and to be honest it got rid of most of the dead weight from our books and in all honesty I believe going down has made us a better club.

    -Chris Hughton Sacking
The opinion that he got sacked in a terrible way imo is ludicrous. I’ve been sacked before and i can tell you there is no ‘nice’ way. Alan Pardew coming in imo was a stroke of genius although i didn’t see it at the time.

-Selling our almost local hero – Andy carroll
Do i really need to explain this one – 35 mill? If we got offered that again I’d piggy back carroll to liverpool myself.

    – The controvertial one – Renaming St James’ Park.
Ok… I’ll admit. Everytime I turn onto a news page or go on the official website it makes my stomach turn. BUT. It hasn’t stopped me and all the every day people in the UK calling it SJP. I’ve got mates from all around the country and that’s what they call it also… so…. who cares?

Go easy fellas… i normally don’t say anything too controvertial 😆

      (Quote)

  31. Nah 11 wins 4 draws 76 points. TBH at the start of the season, I wanted 55pts because I reckon we threw a dozen points away last season and I wanted more consistency. Later when we were on 25 pts without having a real test  I had upped to 60. Now with our new strike force and Tiote & Cabaye coming back I want more. More I tell you. 👿 👿

Sorry about that calmed down now, I’ll settle for top 7. Nonsense top 4 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  32. Mark@111.. what is a butterfly? and i don’t mean the moth-like insect thing.

    DIFSB@115

Howay man. ‘hurt your feelings’- that whiffs of a bit ‘big-girls-blousy- to me. 😆

      (Quote)

  33. The problem with Ashley is he has built up a reputation of being untrustworthy.

He’s certainly turned the club around for the better in terms of the team and financials.
I don’t believe anyone can truly say its by fluke or design.

However, at this moment in time, I believe we find ourselves at a crossroads. Due to the tarnished reputation, a long list of misdemeanours, too many to mention, I continue to distrust him.

Until I see him take the next step, which is to strengthen the squad sufficiently, not sell our assets and demonstrate real ambition, I will never change my view of him.

I base my views on events that have occurred and not hopes and blind faith.

There’s a long way to go this season and things can come crashing down around you in a short space of time. Ashley needs to go a lot further to win my trust.

No matter though, I go to every home game and support the team.

      (Quote)

  34. @Nobby @127

agree with all of that apart from I don’t think CH handled the senior players well, but as you say AP has steadied the ship..

Still don’t know what your personal dig was about tho at 79 👿 after admitting you also change your opinion 😉

      (Quote)

  35. So wolfie if someone asks you if you think we are going to beat manure, to be positive you’ll say yeah 3 or 4 -0 blah blah blah, but you don’t really believe that ? So that tells me your not always honest, and find it easier to lie to look positive, rather than be truthful ? Maybe your values are different than mine but I value honesty over positivity anyday.
I’m sure you will tell me that I have got it wrong etc but from reading your post above, and from your answer the other night about the £25 mill and 4 players coming in thats the conclusion I have came to.
    But I might be wrong.

  37. TROY, I don’t get the don’t trust him bit to be honest.
I know what you’re saying as in, he told lies about this and that and said he wouldn’t rename the stadium and such but I don’t see where you think things will go wrong or what you believe his final motives are.

Can you tell me what you think his ultimate goal is in terms of this distrust?

      (Quote)

  38. @Troy

agree with all of that m8, but while we’re doing great, why moan, enjoy it while you can you miserable old **** 😆

  40. Also where does this delusio of Ashley buys players cheap to sell them on for ££££££’s come from? where is the example of that?

      (Quote)

  41. BIGDAVE@135, I think you are getting mixed up between honesty and belief and hope.

You are going on as though you have never ever told a fib or told someone that Newcastle will win 6 nil and such.
Have you ever told your kids to wait and see what Santa brings when they ask for a certain present.
Did you tell your kids to put their tooth under the pillow for the tooth fairy?
Have you ever told your wife/girlfriend , to tell him I’m not in if there’s a phone call you don’t want to take?

Can you honestly tell me that you have never lied in your life ?

      (Quote)

  42. Dave – you say you value honesty and yet you’re bezzie blog mates with the biggest bullshitter on here – someone who has been proven to tell lies on multiple occasions! 🙄 Doesn’t make sense fella!

      (Quote)

  43. @nobby and wolfie , that in my opinion is thankfully not the thoughts of the majority and never will be .
To say MA has done nowt wrong is as daft as saying he has done nowt right !
@wolfie , you have let me down and others I’m sure I thought you would be good to your word .

      (Quote)

  44. sorry keith, i don’t base my opinion on what the majority wants. I base it on what i believe in.

Actually when i think about it… all my mates who support the toon have a similar belief to me so if i was as petty as to go with the majority…. then i already have 🙂

      (Quote)

  45. Keith – You’re going to have to give me some examples though mate of what bad things Ashley has done to our club just so i can understand better 😕

  46. @the bouncing butterfly

Because I don’t believe in being a Tigger, bouncing round over a new striker and then looking a right chump when you realise that he’s spent the CB money. 😛

Despite the fact that I called the Tiote deal wrong, history dictates that he will sell his assets. Even Pardew said it was a possibility.

History tells you hes never going to spend big cash, so when Cisse was bought, you should have took your springs off your shoes and jumped on board the reality train. 😛

    Boing boing boing 😆
