Today we visit White Hart Lane to do battle with Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham Hotspur outfit but, unlike in previous years, there is actually something riding on this game.
Tottenham sit in third in the table and are looking to catch up Manchester United in second, whist we sit fifth currently – enough for Europe – and will be looking to consolidate that position. It won’t be easy of course, but at long last we have a team capable of springing a surprise result away at one of the “top” teams, in much the same way we did at Old Trafford earlier on in the season.
Anyway, there has been enough said about the match by others and I don’t have to go on about how tough it is going to be again. In terms of the match itself, it is being shown live in ESPN which is great if you can’t get to the match and fancy sitting in a pub or in front of the box with a few Saturday evening beverages. It’s also being broadcast on a lot of overseas channels so the chances of a stream should be pretty good, which is great if you fancy sitting in front of the computer with a few Saturday evening beverages… Once again, if you do stumble upon a decent stream then please feel free to share it with your fellow Magpies.

In fairness, the result today hasn’t hurt us too adly thanks to other results. When looking at our next two games we could quite easily pick up 6 points if we pull our finger out. Should we do that, I reckon we will jump straight back above Arsenal and possibly Chelsea too.

Nowt wrong with being on the attack, but we need to get back to basics of passing and moving and keeping posession.
What’s the point of having two strikers if the midfield cant keep the ball and create them some oportunities.

It’s not how many times you get knocked down that matters, it’s how many times you get back up.
In a weird way, a hiding like this could prove to be a good thing. We’ve had a few poor performances of late, even though we’ve ground out results. We could so easily have been beaten 1-0 after a battling performance and all been happy, but at least now they know that the fans want a reaction.
If we get one in our next game then it could set us off on a nice run again.

Wow! Some crazy overreacting going on on here today.
We played Spurs, who have the best midfield in the country, with a weakened midfield. They dominated that area and exploited the gap between midfield and defence. The same gap that appears every time Tiote doesn’t play.
Add to that the “Harry’s back” effect + two strikers keen to prove themselves(Saha is new and Ade has been off-form for around 7 or 8 games) and you get yourself a thrashing.
Not to mention the early goal, which clearly shell shocked us and spurred them on.
Once Cabaye and Tiote are back we will be fine. Spurs’ dominance in the middle area killed us both offensively and defensively today.
I fully expect us to bounce back and give Wolves a nightmare.

It was rubbish. Put it out with the table scraps. Everyone could see how weak our midfield was. You can’t play top teams with even ordinary midfielders and hope to get a win. No service for the strikers and little defensive help for the centre backs. With hindsight you could say we should have played 4-5-1 but give credit to Pardew for trying to be positive and going for it. We will bounce back, not to worry but we are not in Spurs class without Tiote and Cabaye and even with them we would have had trouble the way they were playing today.

Sobered up and watched the game again on MOTD, we need a right back desperately, Williamson was weak but Simpson once again was like a lost sheep, hes either injured or not interested, either way his meandering around the pitch is pulling the centre halves all over the pitch.
A plus for me was young Ferguson who got stuck in and played with passion, why not play him at left back and switch Santone to the right.
I know the game was over at half time but we were a different team second half, Tottenham were class, but so they should be with the cash thats been spent on them but one negative, Defoe, did he really have to dive to try and win a penalty and then follow that up by trying to get Collocini sent off when there was no contact at all, never mind with his face, cheating bastad.
