Shola saves the day! Newcastle 1-1 Sunderland

Shola slays the Mackems. Again.
Well I’ve finally calmed down enough to get writing a match report. I don’t blame the derby itself, I blame the hugely biased commentary from ESPN, but then again I suppose that was always going to happen with Chris Waddle behind the Mic!

I’m just glad there was two “pelanties” in the match as it showed up his general level of intelligence.

Aside from that annoyance, the 146th Tyne-Wear derby was played out with the usual display of passion and commitment – a term you can only loosely apply to classless Sunderland who ended the match with ten men and made it down the tunnel with nine men courtesy of Lee Cattermole attacking referee Mike Dean. On top of that their fans rioted on the Metro on the way home and smeared their own faeces over the walls of the toilets in the away end. Whatever floats your boat I guess. Anything to make them feel at home…

The thought of someone handling their own **** is actually disgusting, but it honestly doesn’t surprise me as far as these vermin are concerned.

On the match itself, taking my rose-tinted specs off for a second, I think a draw is probably a fair result. Sunderland dominated the first half while Newcastle dominated the second, even before Stephane Sessegnon raised his arms and connected with Cheik Tiote leaving Dean with no option other than sending off the Benin international. After that there was only one team in as Newcastle penned Sunderland back into their own “pelanty” area, but it took until injury time for a breakthrough to be found. We’ll save that until later though.

Lee Cattermole set the tone for the match by scything down Cheik Tiote and receiving a yellow card in the first 40 seconds of the match. It could have been a red and I wonder if it puts any credence behind the rumour that he was shouting “I’m going to get you” at Cheik Tiote in the tunnel prior to kick-off?

The match then became a very “committed” affair with both sides putting some tasty challenges in. However from there it was Sunderland who got a foothold in the game and applied the pressure while Newcastle tried to continue the battle of tackles. Perhaps it was a case of us being too “committed” and not concentrating on the football?

Sunderland took the the lead thanks to a “pelanty” from Nicklas Bendtner awarded after Mike Williamson tugged Michael Turner’s shirt in the “pelanty” area. Personally I have no complaints about the award, my only complaint is that those kind of decisions aren’t awarded often enough, which might put a stop to the continuous shirt pulling we see in pretty much every Premier League game. Still, Mike Dean has form for this kind of decision as showed when we played Stoke at the Britannia earlier on in the season.

Sunderland continued to press and harass Newcastle with the home side unable to get any kind of foothold in the game. Whenever the ball was cleared it just came back at us, it always fell to a red and white shirt. However with ten minutes of the first-half left the home side started playing a bit of football and showed that they could get at Sunderland by playing their own game. Fabricio Coloccini forced a smart save from Simon Mignolet while Demba Ba struck the crossbar from a header.

Half-time: Newcastle 0-1 Sunderland

I don’t know what was said at half-time or what was done by Alan Pardew, but it worked. What I do know is that goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman was sent to the stand after an altercation in the tunnel caused by a member of the Sunderland backroom staff pinning Yohan Cabaye to the wall.

Newcastle started off the second half brilliantly and penned Sunderland in to their own half. A succession of corners proved fruitless however and the filth managed to finally get the ball clear. Hatem Ben Arfa – on at half-time for Davide Santon – was causing no end of problems for Sunderland and he provided us with some real cutting edge and productivity in attack. In fact Alan Pardew said after the game that it was the best performance he’s seen from Ben Arfa and that he had to find a way of getting him in the team.

Despite that though Newcastle nearly found themselves two goals down after being caught out on the break. Only a smart double save from Tim Krul prevented Seb Larsson and James McClean from extending the lead for the away side.

However Sunderland were soon to be eliminated as an attacking force when Stephane Sessgenon flung an arm at Cheik Tiote. Granted Tiote went down like he’d been shot, but rules are rules and they say that if you raise your hands you will get sent off. That means a three game ban for Sessegnon after his violent conduct.

Terrorised by Ben Arfa, Sunderland were on the back foot. I struggle to recall the ball even being in our own half from then on but Sunderland defended stoutly and put bodies on the line. It looked like it might pay off for them aswell!

Or would it? After several failed appeals for a penalty Mike Dean finally awarded one for the home side when Frazier Campbell rather stupidly slid into Shola Ameobi. Demba Ba stepped up to take the spot kick only to see it saved by Mignolet – the Senegal international later admitted that he changed his mind in the run up. Personally I’d have left it to Shola.

That penalty miss kind of deflated things and you could sense that Newcastle were starting to run out of steam. However they just about kept going and got their reward in injury time, and it was a name that Sunderland fans must be sick of seeing who stole the Sho! Yohan Cabaye crossed from the left and Mike Williamson flicked the ball towards Shola Ameobi at the back post who duly applied the finish and half-volleyed past Mignolet to send St James’ Park into raptures.

For the Cabaye bashers, it will go down as an assist to Mike Williamson, which is the problem when you look purely at assists.

For the statto’s out there, and this is a mad one, it was Shola’s 7th goal against the Mackems – a figure only beaten by Wor Jackie Milburn!

Huge sighs of relief all round then, but amazingly the home side could have won it at the death and, had the loose ball not fallen to the feet of Mike Williamson, we might have done. Unfortunately he was just unable to control the ball at the vital moment and Sunderland hacked the ball behind for a corner.

Full-time: Newcastle 1-1 Sunderland

Further drama ensued after the final whistle when Mike Dean dent of Lee Cattermole for foul and abusive language. I’d suggest that he shouldn’t even have been on the pitch long enough to be able to gob off at the ref but hey ho.

A draw on the face of it is a disappointing result, but you have to be pleased with salvaging a point in jury time to avoid defeat against your fiercest rivals. That’s us unbeaten against them since we returned to the Premier League – a poor record for a club who profess to be “light years” ahead of us.

Howay the lads! Thanks for the four points!

  1. Nice read. still gutted we couldnt stuff them looking at the stats.
For all those mackems reading you play rubbish boring one paced football. Its ony when we stopped having a fight and played some lovely stuff did we dominate largely down to HBAs arrival.

Im so glad no one got sent off and just glad we didnt lose.
HBA was a class above it was evident. Glad raylor stayed on as thought his dead balls were vital.
Felt sorry for santon but think he could be in for a shout at right back despite simmo playing well.
For a derby a draw is never a bad result but we really did deserve to win IMO 💡

  2. Think we could of won that in the second half , but it wasnt to be. We have been poor for a number of weeks but that second half performance was amazballs. If we can take that performance into our remaining 11 games we will be in the hunt to finish top 6.

  3. Chris Wabblegob Waddle struggled to hide his bias and his assertion, repeated many times that Tiote was struck in the chest and not the face was outrageous, the post match interviewer also got stuck into the ” Tiote” subject wholeheartedly whilst ignoring Cattermoles ( and sunderlands) all round thuggish behaviour.
O Niel has also gone down in my estimation by childishly suggesting the ref was biased towards us, which looking at the pens given and not given was a load of tripe, and by also sending his captain out to “do”Tiote, that challenge alone deserved a red card. Maybe thats why his face was tripping him up that the plan backfired on him.
    Great match report Toonsy.

  4. Great to see the level of passion from Pardew as well. Thought his post match interview was spot on.

  5. I noticed match of the day did the usual cherry picking to make a point. They showed the decisions the ref got right. What they didn’t show, as usual, the many decisions he got wrong.

  6. 2nd half was incomparable to the 1st. We were just so much better. Was sh*tting it that we wouldn’t find the goal but once Shola was on I knew we would 😉
Ben Arfa was great in the 2nd half and really drove us forward.
Got to agree that Sunderland’s thuggish tactics got off lightly. In the first half the commentators kept going on about how fractious it was but not blaming Sunderland and Cattermole for setting the tone after 45 seconds. That kind of tackle should get a retrospective ban.
I also couldn’t believe how much fuss has been made over Tiote. Yes he made a meal of it but to be fair if he doesn’t do that then the Ref wouldn’t have given the red (he paused to make the decision) and no-one disagrees that it was a red. It’s stupid that everyone is more offended over the reaction than the violent conduct. I’ve seen some papers call it “disgraceful” well what does that make trying to elbow an opponent?

  7. Full credit to Shola – he caused more problems in his 25 minutes than the Dembas managed in the previous 65. Absolutely brilliant.

If only someone could work out how to get him to be like that more often! So frustrating!!

Barfa was great, but again – he was far better at creating chances for himself than for the team. It will come, though – and boy, was he good to watch!

    Krul wonderful as always.

Pards was superb – good decisions (if a bit late – and Shola should’ve taken the spot kick) and a wonderful turnaround from full on spit-and-fury during the match to completely composed aftwards. Class act.

The only big down-sides – apart from 2 points lost – were the embarrassment of sitting in a Devon pub and admitting how bloody shameful the cheating was from Cheik ‘Oscar’ Tiote and Jonas ‘Tom Daley’ Gutierrez. There’s just no place for that **** in this club as far as I’m concerned.

But all in all, two of the best hours watching footie all season. Beaten only by the c**ting of Manure 🙂

  8. The way we played in the 2nd half yesterday is how i probably unrealistically expect us to play at SJP against midtable dross like Sunderland and certainly against wolves and the other relegation candidates, Giving Ben Arfa license to run at the opposition and create without moaning about his defending, Retaining the ball, Pegging them back and going for the throat.

Also maybe its just me but i cant understand why true faith are ripping into simpson on the match report i thought he kept the hideously ugly one trick pony mclean quiet barring the thuggish tackle and his miss he did nowt of note… 😕

      (Quote)

  9. Oh, and even the mackem sat in front of me admitted that Cattermole was an utter waste of carbon and only has the armband courtesy of their previous manager. I think the language he used to describe that arsehole was actually worse than mine; he was properly ashamed.

Then again, he did leave sunderland very early in life and has now been released back into the wild following extensive rehab. He can even use a spoon, and hasn’t smeared his **** on the bedroom wall for several years. Just as well, as he did insist on shaking my hand before and after the game. 😯

      (Quote)

  10. I thought Simmo did just fine – as usual. Why does anyone have a problem with him?

I’m still trying to get my head around how different Shola is against the mackems. They guy in front of me had his head in his hands when he came on. I think his words were along the lines of, “oh, no – anyone but him…”

Funny to hear that from an opposition supporter!

Talking of people saying odd things: what bloody planet is Waddle on? Tiote may have been taking cheating classes from Barton, but you had to be blind not to see his jaw and lip do a tour of his neck when he was hit! I think Waddle’s intelligence was stored in his mullet; his IQ’s taken a dive since he cut it off.

      (Quote)

  11. Amazing stats from Shola – pity he can’t play against the mackems every week!

On another note: anyone watch the four year plan last night featuring Fabio Briatore and co – good insight into how a football club is ran (badly). INteresting that it painted the ex owners in a bad light and the remaining Amit Bhatia as a passionate fan who didn’t take part in the terrible decision making…. me cynical…. as if 🙂

      (Quote)

  12. Waddle obviously has mackem tendancies but even when commenting on neutral matches hes thick as **** he seems to get these stupid ideas in his head and wont drop them even when watertight evidence is dangling before his eyes.

I remember last season when we beat villa 6-0 he kept bleating about how we should have been 3-0 down before we scored, They did miss a penalty but i can only remember them having 1 other shot in the match and it was miles off target… 🙄

    Absolute prize ****.

      (Quote)

  13. Thanks for the report toonsy.

Everyone else desperately hoping that Ben Arfa starts next week against Arsenal to give us a chance of frightening them back? He could tear up their left back as well

  14. Not forgetting to mention that’s Shola 50th PL goal at last. 😉

Half a century goal for him. 😳

  15. Good read Toonsy-Hope you are catching up on sleep now, having spent 7 nights not sleeping on a hospital chair i know how awful lack of sleep is. Well what a game ,had it all fouls ,red and yellow cards ,pens given not given and the normal cack commentary we come to expect of ESPN 😆 . I was in despair at the first half ,we seem content to just let them attack and turn the game into a mass brawl . No guile or pressing from us at all ,Ba & Cisse may as well of gone home for trhe service they got.Second half much better ,the long overdue introduction of HBA proved pivitol in our ability to press forward and the sending off of sausages the icing on the cake. As for Tiote makeing a meal of it ,so what ,he only did what every Scum player would of done and anyone of em who says different is a lousy liar. Shola was always gonna score ,he hates those creeps so much he gains an extra 5yds to his game 😆 .As for the Mackems smearing the toilets with you know what ,that says it all ,total lack of class and intelect .How will that win them any friends in the football world ,filthy rotten inbred SCUM yuk.

      (Quote)

  16. AndrewT – I’m still not completely convinced about starting Barfa, especially against teams like Arsenal who have good, quick wingers. I think I saw Barfa actually produce one good pass at the end of his usual mazey run, and while it was pretty to watch and really did change the game, I’m not convinced it would be the same against a fresh, 11-man team who are basically not as **** as scumberland.

I expect he’ll remain a supersub for a while yet.

  17. I would shag Shola if he was up for it. If he’s not I may force myself upon him anyway 😯

  19. I see MON is saying some of our staff went into the refs room at half time a point Pards refutes as ” totally untrue”. If that’s the case and MON is telling the press/media a load of porkies then he must be charged with bringing the game into disrepute, or at the very least unsporting conduct. Talk about a bad sport, but then he’s always been the same really.

      (Quote)

  20. @23 I meant to add that that was MON mittigating circumstances for why
Catterfoul was swearing and gobbing off at mike dean at games end 😯

  21. Perhaps the Shola sniping’ll stop now. Let’s face it, the lad has his weaknesses but yet again, he’s pulled us out of the mire. 🙂

He’s a star so let’s hope the snipers cut him some slack. Grrrrr 👿 : 🙄

  22. “Shola was always gonna score ,he hates those creeps so much he gains an extra 5yds”

To be fair, that is only half of one stride in Shola’s case. 😛

  23. For the record, let’s drop the Tiote was elbowed thing… he was NOT elbowed. He was struck in the chin by a forearm not by an elbow. If anyone else was watching from overseas using the “Setanta” feed and had the same picture as me it was impossible to actually see the contact as the score in the top left was right on top of the action. You can clearly see from this video that he was not elbowed but was struck hard enough that his chin was wagging side to side.

      (Quote)

  24. KSMIT@27-Elbow of forearm ,makes no difference it was a raised arm .Can’t do ,end of . And all the Scum players would of gone down asif hit by a sniper had it been them if theyr’e honest.

      (Quote)

  25. I’m not arguing that he shouldn’t have been sent off! I’m just saying that we need to call it as it is. And that he was struck with a forearm not an elbow. Saying that he was elbowed is about the same as saying he wasn’t hit at all, neither is true. For me personally I’m sure I would have dropped and hit the ground like a rock from a hit like that, wouldn’t have rolled around like that on the ground but I don’t think anyone would do that regardless of the injury (it’s not even good acting)

      (Quote)

  26. KSMIT@29 😆 Agreed no Oscar for Tiote for sure. I haven’t seen anyone say it was an elbow tbh , but there was most certainly contact made with the lower jaw area and a clear sending off. What gets to me is that MON is saying we went into the refs room at half time ,implying we put pressure on ref .Now that really is unsporting conduct by MON if it’s not the case.

      (Quote)

  27. Tiote was smacked in the face, doesnt matter what part of the arm or hand did it, he lashed out. And yes, Tiote was out of order for rolling about like a schoolgirl but the mackems criticizing him have obviously forgotten James McLean doing the same when no contact at all made by Huth.

      (Quote)

  28. @KSMIT – who cares, he raised his arm to Tiotes chin which is a red card every day of the week, doesn’t matter which part of the arm hit Tiote.

Tiote should club together with Stevie Taylor and pay for some acting skills, they wouldn’t get in TOWIE with thier current ham acting 🙂

  29. Chris waddle, what an absolute bellend ey?

Shola is king, this match settles it. Funny really, about 90% of our fans would rather play with 10 men apparently? Apparently Cisse makes such brilliant runs and Shola is so useless that he should never be seen in the black and white again? Well, I hope all those fans **** well take note.Shola-Legend!

      (Quote)

  30. ksmit… see where you’re coming from with the rolling around on the ground aspect.. it’s a part of the game that nobody particularly likes but unfortunately at times a necessary evil.. if he had stood there after getting hit, would the ref have sent sessegnon off? maybe, but there is a chance he wouldn’t have, and that would have been an injustice considering raising your hands is a red card offence.. players do these things at times to ensure the ref takes appropriate action.. it’s not great to see and we all wish it wasn’t a part of the game, but fact is it is, and he’s far from the first and won’t be the last to do something similar.. as an example, both Lee Cattermole and Craig Gardner rolled around after barely being touched to get Cabaye and Simpson booked.. did I curse them for doing it? of course.. but I have come to expect it and will see it happen ten more times next weekend in the Premier League.. in games where the margins are so fine professional players will do anything they can get away with to make it harder on their opposition and manipulate refs

      (Quote)

  31. Lesh – the Shola-sniping won’t stop because for every one of those performances there’s a string of ones where he looks like he’s just out for a nice walk.

But he wasn’t just good yesterday – he was bloody brilliant. At least three shots on target, got a penalty, scored – you name it.

Anyone got a link to the stats?

      (Quote)

  32. think it’s something that came with continental players coming to England and now it’s just part of the game, play by the same rules or become a victim of it unfortunately

      (Quote)

  33. Bloody waddle did my tits in yesterday. Kept saying Gutiarez, Pelanty and Makins (instead of makem or scum).

Worst points of view ever and could barely string a full sentance together. How do these clowns get employed?

He was even more annoying than Ray Wilkins.

      (Quote)

  34. I don’t mind the diving when you are genuinely hit, it’s annoying but necessary these days i think.

Good match report toonsy, proud of how we came back second half, gutted to not get the win though, on another day Ba would have got 2.

The manner of the result should at least be a morale boost.

Couple of points on the match:
    1) Ben Arfa did look good, his awareness and decision making is still **** but i think he created enough problems to justify him starting on the right now.
    2) I think a huge tactical error by Pardew was not starting Ben Arfa or Obertan, Richardson is a terrible substitute for a left back and part of our game plan should have been to capitalise on that, Raylor has a decent cross on him, but putting Ober or someone on to get to the byline would have been much better.

      (Quote)

  35. KeithR – that is a good point; it’s difficult to draw the line between going down when fouled to ensure it’s seen, and doing what Jonas did – to the derision of the entire pub I was sat in – to pretend there’s a foul that didn’t exist.

For me, Tiote got it wrong and caused more trouble than it was worth. It’s got him and our club associated with cheating again, and that has a cost too. He should have just reacted as you would naturally, which would have been plenty for the ref stood six feet in front of him to see.

But it is hard to judge that right in the heat of the moment, I suppose.

Aw, who cares? Shola is king. Long live the Shola. 😛

      (Quote)

  36. Whumpie @ 20… what’s the alternative to starting Ben Arfa next week though? The same pedestrian, uncreative, no-energy 4-4-2 we’ve seen too much of lately? Staying on the defensive against **** is a suckers’ game because RVP is unstoppable. The only way to defend against them is to make sure they’re not always the ones attacking! Their own defence is shaky too, so we may well get some joy. For me, he has to start.

I had the most annoying experience yesterday. The pub I wanted to watch in, it turned out, was going to be showing Cardiff v West Ham (OK, I’m in East London)… so I went to another pub which supposedly ‘shows all live sports’ etc…. asked the manager if the match would be on… was told yes, bought a drink… then ten minutes later when kickoff came around, the complete w@nker wouldn’t turn the sound on!! We had to listen to a really **** selection of country music and 80s castoffs during the first half (before changing venues), because.. as I got told… ‘it’s not a big enough match’ and ‘there are only 3 of you’.

    NOT A BIG ENOUGH MATCH!!!!!
Fcking loser who knows nothing about football !!!!!

I am going to write a scathing review of the place on every pub review website that exists. Still pissed off about it!

      (Quote)

  37. Toonsy good read mate, I have to say I was embarrassed by the way Tiote rolled about, yeah I know you have to go down sometimes before the ref takes notice, but you dont need to roll about as if Tyson hit you. 😳

Susan get that of your chest 😆 and yeah I agree we need to start Benny, every game we play we talk about we need to watch this player or that player cause they can harm us, well imo Benny is the only player we have that would worry any team in the prem. 😉

Whumpie no harm till you but you must have been sleeping if you only seen Benny create one good pass 😆

      (Quote)

  38. SUSAN@42- That landlord should be done under the trade discriptions act. How can you advertise all live sports then refuse to turn the the sound up, what a pillock ,typical Londoner completely ignorant to anything outside the capital, bit like the southern press/media.

      (Quote)

  39. Shola should be kept in the gym working out being taunted by videos of sunderland players and then only released for 180 minutes of the year to play the mackems  . If Pardew doesn’t start ben arfa next week (and puts raylor at rm) then hes an idiot and shouldnt be the coach. 😕

  40. SJP14
couldn’t agree more about the tiote issue was telling my mates (who claimed we were ‘lucky’ 🙄 ) that if he hadn’t reacted to it in that way then sessegnon wouldn’t have been sent off which he had to be for any retaliation.

      (Quote)

  41. i wonder who else will sigh a new contract soon……time will tell ..very intense game i though but well done shola he should be playing a lot more i feel ..and ive said this all along!

      (Quote)

  42. Dave & Kim… really, my jaw dropped when he said that. Indeed my voice may have become a little shrill too, as I suggested he knew nothing about football. I was going to demand my money back on my half-drunk pint, since I only bought it because he told me he was showing the match, but I had a feeling I wouldn’t get anywhere and it might end up over his head. I controlled myself for the sake of my two mates, Ipswich supporters with full pints in their hands, who couldn’t really be expected to get worked up with me. Also one of them is my yoga student. It doesn’t look good for yoga teachers to rip the head off of pub managers… ahem…

Yeah Tiote was a bit embarrassing, but he wasn’t cheating. Those scumbags were hacking away at him from the first minute too, luckily he’s made of steel and they didn’t manage to break him!

      (Quote)

  43. Stevo whos place do you want him to take ? Yeah he seems to up his game for the mackems but 1 goal in 10 isn’t the best for a striker ? Benny has started 5 games and scored 2 goals and we cant get him in the side

      (Quote)

  44. Susan well done for keeping cool 😉
On Tiote even though I am against it, I know he had to go down to make the ref act but the problem is the refs tend to pick up on these things afterwards and in future they will maybe overlook it in future, thinking ” ah thats just Tiote going overboard”

      (Quote)

  45. Agree Dave. I was proud of Tiote, though, for keeping his cool when talking to the ref a couple of times. I’ve seen him go apeshit mental before, not AT the ref so to speak, but out of frustration, but it makes him look like a psycho…. yesterday whilst talking to the ref he looked soft as a bunny rabbit, and hopefully his ‘hard man’ image will improve. Only a yellow in that match is an achievement! Geez, so glad no sendings-off for us, whilst they are without Catts & Sess now 😀 😀

      (Quote)

  46. Dave…I think if Ref’s were a little more consistent in enforcing the laws of the game, then some(not all) players wouldn’t feel the need to throw themselves to the deck…….it’ll never happen though 🙁

    Susan… a bit harsh on 80’s music there, it’s the new 60’s don’t you know? 😉

      (Quote)

  47. Rich I agree with both points mate, I still think the way to cut all the bad stuff out is for a refs panel to watch games after and punish any wrong doings, like a points system and when they clock up certain amount they get a ban. 😕

      (Quote)

  48. Dave….aye and even during the game with Jonas, if the ref thinks he dived he should book him instead of waving for him to get up.

      (Quote)

  49. Richie… I was a teenager in the 80s, and the 80s had some great stuff 😀

This was the wrong kind though, not cool music, I didn’t even know what most of it was! Bad taste and cheesy…. the way Mr Cool the manager was dressed said it all (loser)..

OK I guess I’ve got it off my chest now, lol

  50. can see why it annoys people, so much of it goes on it would be near impossible to cut out.. ref association just have to inform all clubs start of the season, any player seen blatantly diving or making more of an incident than what it is will be booked, then have refs book the first player that does it in any way in a match, if it happens again, book the 2nd to do it, no tolerance policy and stricter refereeing, only way they’ll cut it out or at least limit it to a minimum, same as what’s been done with tackles from behind or especially scissors tackles this season. Boils my blood seeing people roll around when, if you play football, you know exactly how hard it is to leave even normal folk on the deck for more than a few seconds, but as I said earlier, in terms of pro football it’s a big part of it and it’s gotten to a stage where you either play by those rules or fall victim to the opposition doing it to you.. the higher morale ground and rising above it is nice and all but it doesn’t win you games.. anything you can get away with to win is how football is now.. poor ref decisions due to player manipulation determine a lot of results these days, getting to be every single week at this stage!

  51. Ben Arfa changed the game, he’s by far the most creative player we’ve got. When people give him stick for losing the ball it p*sses me off because he doesn’t lose it much more than anyone else, Gutierrez, Obertan and Taylor but offers much more offensively.

richardson at left back got twisted inside out by Ben Arfa and had to go off which led to bridge slack marking late on and Shola stuck it in, what a feeling that was

  53. Lets not forget also that Shola has scored more in Europe than Sunderland AFC (Sunderland have scored 5 goals, Shola has scored 12.
