Benny’s best bits – In video!

Hatem Ben Arfa has been in stunning form in recent weeks and has really silenced those who doubted his worth to the team.

What we’ve seen recently is a player who has retained that ability to pull off the spectacular whilst also being able to work for the team. A truly remarkable feat for the one time “enfant terrible” and whoever is responsible for that needs a huge pat on the back.

Ben Arfa is no longer a luxury player. He is now a team player with added luxury and it’s Newcastle United who are reaping the benefits of this. The amount of fantastic stuff he has done is hard to put in words, so I found this video which does it far better than my words ever could!

He is really turning it on now and there is a genuine sense of anticipation that builds in the crowd every time he gets the ball at his feet. Some of the stuff featured in that video is truly remarkable, although my personal favourite is the bit where he put the ambitious Jose Enrique on his backside!

This is Ben Arfa’s best season in terms of assists, and he needs one more goal to equal his best ever goal return. On current form I’d go as far to say that it’s a matter of when and not if Ben Arfa can beat his own best.

  1. Love this Video – getting me excited for the game on Saturday! Should be a great atmosphere. Its pretty much a sell out I think and Stoke have only taken 600 tickets 😯 thought they had good support?

    Could be one of the highest attendences by newcastle fans if its a sell out and only 600 away fans.

    Usually only a sell out when we play the ‘big’ clubs and they bring more fans!

    St James’ will be rocking hopefully!

  5. Does anyone think that Saturday v Stoke it could be the game where we manage to put a good few past the opposition. I dont see Stoke as having the most agile of defences so I can see Barfa Cisse and Ba having a good time against them.

  8. Icedog – did people actually want to sell him or did they just think that he would be sold if we couldn’t find a space for him in the team? I think he would have wanted to go had he not become a regular. So glad he has!

    I love watching this lad play. Probably the most exciting palyer in the league atm.

  10. He is just unbeliveable! I clearly think Newcastle are the greatest club in the worl but sometimes I wonder how he actually ended up here! And it wasnt we parked 100k+ a week at him , he went on bloody strike to sign for us! He is world class. Simple as.

    Yeah, I forgot about him going on strike at Marseille to join us. Haha, this lad is immense. Just plain immense. His ability to beat his man reminds of Pedro. Impeccable first touch, and his ability to go from 0-60 in .2 seconds is world class! Haha, absolutely wonderful to have a player of his calibre in the squad now. HWTL.

  13. A joy to watch toonsy. We are now playing as I hoped we would with Ben Arfa, Ba, and Cisse all on the pitch together. The 4-3-3 looks fantastic now that it is working properly. It will be very interesting to see if we can hang on to these players for several years. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do in Europe (not to jinx us but I think we are bound for the Europa league which is about right for us for the time being), All the best to everyone. 😀

    I initially thought after Pards kept dropping him and Arfa was finding it tough to play for the team that maybe it would be hard to integrate him on the wing or up front.

    hats off to Pards and Carver for pursuing with tactics and Barfa coz he’s a total gem. totally gifted, natural footballer.

  47. So, is there any worry that HBA’s skill is going to be noticed by others and he’ll be snatched up? Watching that video, there’s certainly no question of the lad’s skills. That was a **** fun video to watch.

    This reminds me though. There was debate the other day at which to root for, Chelsea win or Arsenal win (or draw). I would guess, given the current situation, that we’d rather see an Arsenal loss. If Chelsea somehow manage to win or draw at Camp Nou, then they are that much close to a UCL spot, and then only positions 1-3 go from BPL, so that means if we want UCL for NUFC next year, they need a 3rd place finish. Is this right? Granted, I don’t think Chelsea WILL win against Barca, but who knows, they score 1 goal there and Barca need 3 to win…

    So, I guess at this point, until Chelsea are out of the running for an auto-birth to next year’s UCL, then I am going to root for them against Arsenal.

    Which means I am going to feel yucky two weekends in a row. Had to root for Liverpool last weekend and had to take two showers just to feel closer to clean after that.

  58. Just watched the video again haha. Like the bit with Pars at the end, so important that they get on well, the fact that Benny respected the decision to leave him out the team on occasion bodes so well for the chances of him staying i think, i can’t imagine past managers have been able to do that without feeling his wrath.
    Also the clips of him in one of the last two games (can’t remember which), when he was substituted was amazing, he looked so happy!

    Imagine if we don’t lost any of the big guns this summer, STABILITY, never ever thought i would see the day.
