Chelsea 0-2 Newcastle – Match highlights

Match highlights (well, goal highlights anyway) of the 2-0 victory over Chelsea last night, featuring two stunning strikes from Papiss Demba Cisse.

Have you seen a better brace of goals this season? I know I haven’t. People are quite rightly gushing over the second, but for me the first one was the most impressive of the two. To tee it up like that with one foot and hit the ball with the other, before it’s even touched the ground, giving Petr Cech no chance of saving it was something special.

It was a great result, a fantastic and unexpected result that now leaves us with a strong chance of finishing fifth and leaves us in a position to capitalise on any mistakes Tottenham or Arsenal may make in the run in, providing we keep looking after ourselves of course!

Plaudits should be handed out after that performance. They restored the pride after Wigan, and then some. I’m just left wondering who will get the credit for it as it seems the players get the acclaim when we win, yet the manager takes the blame when we lose. That’s how it seems to me anyway.

Howay the lads!

  1. Kim, I saw Santon’s goal line clearance. Quality. We seem to have made a fair few of them this season, more than usual I’m sure. Some quality defensive coaching going down.

With Regards to Mikel, it’d be nice if he got done for that, but it was pretty much *** for tat. Unfortunately for Tiote he came off worse. Mr T plays hard and is always gona **** players off. I think he’s ace though. 😎

  2. It will be a long time before you will see another goal as good as his second… I have few of my rip snorter goals on VHS but unfortunatey I can’t convert them to digital.. So you will just have to make do with Cisse’s effort.. 🙂 🙂

  3. Newkie @75: I don’t care if it came off his spleen; it worked. He really is becoming the super-sub; he’s involved in so many of our final goals of games. Brilliant stuff from Wor Shola.

  4. Yeah Obi lined Mr T up with that elbow.should be looked at.. I will say that Tiote probably got the softest yellow card of the season in the first half.. I think it was paid on reputation alone..

  5. Also, Aussie-Unfortunately mate I can’t quite believe your claims, I’ve decided to take everything an aussie says with a pinch of salt since discovering that your nation once declared war on Emus…

“If we had a military division with the bullet-carrying capacity of these birds it would face any army in the world…They can face machine guns with the invulnerability of tanks. They are like Zulus whom even dum-dum bullets could not stop”

I’ll leave it at that. 😉

  6. Newkie 🙂 that is gold.. I won’t ask where the hell you found that… for the record, I wouldn’t believe my claims either 🙂

  7. I’m sure Rod Hull wasn’t happy about that Newks, but it sure is a lot of tasty burgers. Fair play to our Antipodean chums I say 😆

  8. Whumpie- I know mate, joking aside he is really thriving in this role. He’s willing to support the goal scoring prowess of both Ba and Cisse willingly and energetically. We can see now that any combination of Ba and Cisse, Shola and Cisse and Shola and Ba (Manure) can prove effective. Sometimes its not the quality of the individuals, but the effectiveness of a duo or team-I think we’ve learned that well enough this season.

  9. Ice – Where’s this new deal for Cisse? Is it Ed’s one? I honestly can’t see it and it seems it’s only him who is suggesting it. Would love it to be true like 😆

  10. Aussie

I remember hearing about it when I used to live in aus, in the beautiful metropolis of Frankston. I now use it as a trump card against any Australians I meet 😆

  11. Love those highlights…I am just curious, I’ve been to England about 4 times…various parts of the country, including a trip to Newcastle…what part of the country is that accent from? Very difficult for me to make out what they were saying…something about fantastic strikes and goal of the season…but couldn’t catch it all.

  12. Whumpie ,Rod -Yeah fair play Tiote does dish it out but I don’t think he ever intends to harm he’s just a guts and glory tackler .The Mikel tackle had real intent in it and there is a subtle difference there I think. Would we be so forgiving if Tiote had ended up in hospital after it and missed the next game I wonder.

  13. Norcal, it sounds like drunken Scottish to me mate 😉

Kim, yeah I hear ya. I don’t think Tiote is deliberately malicious, he just sees opposing players as skittles. 🙂

  14. Kimtoon-exactly. I thought Mikel deserved a yellow for that. Of course if an elbow is deemed as being used with intent its a red. I’m not so sure how much he intended it, but he wasn’t going for the ball and in my eye thats a booking.

What pissed me off was, Bosingwa I think? Hacking Jonas out after he’d skipped past two players and was running into the box. No card. Then cabaye puts a hand on Ramires and immediately lifts it off, Ramires collapses in a heap. Yellow card.

I just want consistency tbh 🙄

  15. NorCal Toonfan – If you mean the highlights at the top of the page? They aren’t in English. Sounds like Ukranian or Polish or something, eastern european anyway.

…that’s fkn quality. Like he’s just seen his doppelganger or something 😯

  18. Cheers, Rossco…was being a wee bit sarcastic on that one, like.

  19. Rossco-I think he says “it puts the first one to shame” mate, could be wrong tho 😆

  20. I gotcha…I should have made myself more clear. I just found it funny that they only highlight available was one in a Slavic language. Seriously couldn’t find anything in perhaps the Queen’s English? Cracked me up.

  21. Norcal, I did legitimately think it was exceptionally crude Scottish for a few seconds. It’s sounds similar to a Glaswegian after a bottle of whisky.
