NUFC video season review 11/12

I’ve been waiting for some decent season review videos to appear, and finally they have!

Relive the season again and view all the thrills, spills and incidents of our European qualifying campaign.

Just have to say a big thank you to to Affy from Footymad who made these videos. In fact he makes an awful lot of decent videos so it’s always worth subscribing to his channel on YouTube to keep up to date with them.

There was some cracking goals in that lot, some of which I’d sort of forgotten about so it’s nice to have it all refreshed. I look at some of the highlights and think to myself that we’re most definitely on the up and can get better if we can keep this core of players together and add to them.

All in all though, a fitting tribute to a fantastic season!

  1. The club should/should’ve video(ed) the hong kong matches, and post(ed) the goals on the website. 💡

  2. Pardews three old teams, West Ham, Reading and Southampton are all going to be competing against us next season. Quite a coincidence that.

Hey ‘Arry, apples and pears, we’re gonna lose Bale and ‘Modders’ naaah, aw naaw. 😆

  3. Great videos. Having watched that, what stands out to me the most is the absolute class in the final third and very clinical finishing. Long may it continue and bring on next season already.

I bought some onesy pyjamas 3 days ago and I never realised the sleeves were tied together at the back, so when I slipped my arms in it was like a strait jacket and I couldnt get oot!
I was found by a stray marmoset monkey who was just passing by and it untied my arms!
    The chances eh?

  6. Sounds plausible Troy.. 🙂

Have you put a gihad on your ‘source’ at the club yet.. the guy has ruined your cred 🙂 🙂 🙂

  7. Troy, marmosets are worth their weight in gold mate. They don’t get half the credit they deserve. I have a whole battalion of them in my cellar. I trained them to crochet doilies and they’re currently churning out around 2000 per day. Good little business venture, I’d recommend it to everyone. Tidy source of income, and they don’t require much attention. I just water them once a month, and chuck the odd dead pigeon down there once in a while. 😎

F-ck that Cup’s massive, well done to the lads, anyone know how tavanier actually did? Campbell obviously did well, as did Miele by the sound of it.

Really hope we have another season like that or better ,here’s hopeing anyway , hell if Chelsea can win the CL playing like they have anything is possible. 😉

    Solano@90- 😀 That’s a nice looking trophy .

  12. I never said he was a source! It’s the way the marmosets pronounce it. It’s either, sores, saws, Sauce or soars but defo not source. 😯

  13. Andy i assume the defence did pretty well if they only conceded 2 in 6. Inman sounded good in the final and maddison apparently looked good in the group. They name a player of the tournament, hopefully one of our boys wins it but that daniel johnson from villa seemed to have a great tournament

  14. Beep beep beep… Troys reversing beepers are now in effect 🙂 🙂

Aye only 2 conceded is very good, hopefully tav can have some game time next season, if not then we should try and loan him to a promotion chasing Championship side like Blackpool or Crystal Palace if we get Clyne.

Yes. Hands up! I did say there was going to be a cataclysmic press release this week.

All said with good honest intentions.

I will take the flak. 😛

    I’m pleased my sources are *****! 😛

  19. Confession time!
In defence of Troy, it was my source who informed me last Monday of the alleged trouble brewing at SJP between Pardew and Ashley/Lamearse. As I was at work I had no access to this site so I contacted Troy who posted the now ***** ITK news on the blog.
There were a number of rumours circulating my workplace last Monday which appeared to add credance to my source, hence passing on the info to Wor Troy as a possible scoop.
Sorry folks, I appear to have placed too much trust in my source.
Once bitten, twice as shy! 😳 😳

Fair play for owning up though.
I didn’t believe it for a second anyway.

  22. Indeed TGS, everyone loves a bit of drama anyway.

Hitman, the last time you asked a completely random and irrelevant question like that, I answered it and you disappeared. It done my head in for days so I’m reluctant to be so revealing this time. 😛

  23. I see Danny simpson is reafirming his desire to stay with us as long as the deal is right. “I’m not a greedy playerand I just want to be on a par with the other players around me.” he said “In football terms what I’m asking for is by no means outrageous. I want to stay at this club and I’ve been saying that all season. I’ve recently had a baby, I’m happy here and so is my family.
“Hopefully me and the club can find some solution. I want to stay but if I have to move ,I will accept it and move on.” But it’s a great club with 50,000 screaming Geordies at the game every week, why would I want to leave?”.
He goes on to say how he’s played 80 games and how the club is on the up and that the manager and staff are brilliant.

  28. my reading re Simpson is that he has been offered squad player money cos we have a replacement in mind, and he wants 1st team money as he thinks hes a regular starter.

as to kadar lots of players at the euros who would not make EPL squads.

      (Quote)

  29. Ice @ 124 😉
Andy I used to have a lot of time for Joey but he has turned into a fuking gobshite that thinks his opinion is important, Twitter can make some people but can also turn them into fuking muppets

      (Quote)

  30. I think the trouble with Simpson is he thinks he is worth more than he is , i also think its disgusting that a person in these financially difficult times would refuse wages of 25 k a week . Which effing planet does he come from , Europe is on the brink of bankruptcy and he thinks he is too good to be accepting these sort of wages and then says he is not greedy . i say fook him and flog him . Outside the top 6 there is no other team that would offer more money but he will find that out for himself when he can choose from the likes of Villa ,Everton or Fulham .

      (Quote)

  31. Ice @124 ,yes some food for thought for the big clubs ,it’s going to be interesting to see if and how they get around the new rules .I’m glad we are operating the way we are ,I’m glad we are relatively financialy secure ,moreover if we were to win a trophy or get into top 4 it would be done in a fair way. There is something wholesome and comforting to know you have achieved greatness like that and not from buying the prize . As much as Chelsea and Man city fans are enjoying their respective honors as a fan I would feel worried the bubble would burst at any time the owner got fed up with his plaything.

      (Quote)

  32. KIMTOON i tend to agree but it strange how these money “folk” can get round things 😉

  33. I wonder if Chelsea do **** in the league and get knocked out of the CL early next season whether Abramovich will get bored with them and leave, resulting in the liquidation of Chelsea.

      (Quote)

  34. Axel the worlds economic climate doesn’t really concern footballers, and im sure it didn’t concern Tiote or Krul when they resigned their contract which I would bet was on better money so why should Simpson, I don’t think he is the best RB in the prem but imo he is far better than most people think he is .
He has been an ever present in the last couple of season and has helped us get a Europa league spot this season because he has saved us in a few games. As for no other team outside the top 6 paying him more than us how do you know that ❓ what wage is he on ❓

Kimtoon I would bet my house that the big clubs WIL get around the new rules as for playing fair I don’t think well get any benefits from trying to play fair when the ones we are up against are doing what ever it takes

      (Quote)

  35. Yeah Dave I think he gets way too much criticism. With Saylor being injured for the majority he’s been our second best defender this year, a job made tougher by playing behind HBA.

Also I think he’s arguably the best RB outside the “old” top 6. Okay we may need to get someone with the potential to be better, but doesn’t justify the flak he gets imo.

      (Quote)

  36. BIG Dave
The reasoning behind the no other team outside the top six is simple , none of them have the money . Its time to face facts , football clubs unless they have a rich sugar daddy ie Citeh , Chelsea or liverfool are facing bankruptcy if they keep forking out the mega bucks . Just ask Leeds , Pompey or Rangers fans . Even Manure have curtailed their spending the last couple of seasons . As for Simpson , on the field yes he gets more flak then he deserves and he has helped us move back into the european places , but he ain’t all that . The lad is good for a lower to mid table side as first choice but we are now at a stage when he should be a squad player and not first choice .Krul and Tiote are first choice players ,but i bet even they are earning less than Chelsea’s or Citeh’s reserves and not much more than Simpson has been offered .If your very good it strengthens your position in contract talks , Simpson is above average but certainly not Very good . The reported 25k a week is a wage where you can sit back and think i am loaded and no more money troubles if spent properly .

      (Quote)

  37. Dave ,I think someone pointed out a while back that we might even see a break away super league ,I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see it happen. What do you think?

On Simmo It’s reported he’s been offered £25k ,I don’t know what the others are on in comparison but I should imagine there are one or two on a lot more.Thing is it depends what the club and he think he’s worth and if they can meet each other half way perhaps. He’s as you say not the best in his position but has done a good job for us mostly and I would like him to stay .The thing is Carr and co may have someone better lined up who they are willing to pay more to but would like Simmo to stay as back up .If he’s not keen to do that or fight to regain the slot then he’s better off moving on .It’s the same with Guthrie another player I would be sad to see leave as he too has done well when called upon.

      (Quote)

  38. Axel the point im making is your saying that no other club outside the top 6 could afford him but you don’t know what he is getting so how do you know they couldn’t afford him ❓ I would be certain that he is not on anywhere near £25 k a week now when you consider when he signed the contract, so the stories floating about now that he has been offered £25k a week are the same as the stories about the players we’re trying to sign and the ones we’re going to have to let go, just BS made up stories.

      (Quote)

  39. KIMTOON Guthrie imo is a match for Tiote and did very well when he stepped in for him . With European games back and Tiote on ACON duties again we are going to miss Guthrie .With Tiote i always have a feeling we are on the verge of having 10 players on the park .

      (Quote)

  40. Axel he’s certainly a match for most though.
Santon is yet to fully settle, do we want that situation with both flanks next year?
If we can’t get Debuchy then I am keen on signing Clyne, it means Simmo will be first choice for the time being, Clyne can settle and has the potential to be better.
Latter half of the season CB was the problem not Simmo. He was playing next to Willo and HBA, could hardly have been given less to work with.

Could Guthrie yet sign a contract? Surely with our new formation his direct competition is Jonas, and I’m sure Guthrie would back himself in fighting for the place of centre mid over a winger (unless we sign someone new).

      (Quote)

  41. Axel @ 140 I agree with that 100% Guthrie is a very under-rated player but one that I think deserves 1st team footie so I can understand if he goes, imo there is some players that are suited to back up but some that are wasted on the bench I think Guthrie is wasted there.

      (Quote)

  42. BIG DAVE your right , they could afford him on the wages he is on now but would he get much more than he is on now if he moved? i honestly believe the teams outside the big spenders are all paying much the same wages for players .Some even less than us perhaps , i am then thinking about Norwich ,Wigan Swansea .IMO he is not good enough for the big spenders (fergie did get rid of him for a reason ) thus has no chance of the big money they get . He should maybe accept that and be happy and proud to play for us and get a wage that us mere mortals can only dream of .

      (Quote)

  43. TGS… I thought you may of had a hand in it when you posted you’d heard the same at work and as I knew you know Troy, nowt wrong with people saying stuff on here about what “they’ve heard” like you say it’s what blogs are for. I know a couple of lads who work at St James’ and they often tell me stuff but both say to take it with a pinch of salt as they reckon only 4 or 5 people at the top actually know what’s going on, the rest of the employees deal with rumour, gossip and the odd overheard snippet of managerial conversation. The only time it pisses me off is the people who just blatantly make stuff up for a bit of attention.
    p.s You owe me a beer 😉

      (Quote)

  44. ST what I heard about Guthrie is that he is too quiet and is not the type of player to rap Pards door to ask questions, and it sort of proved the point that he was in the team and doing very well and had the shirt but as soon as Cabaye was back Guthrie was dropped straight away, I could have understood if Guthrie had of started the game then was subbed for Cabaye to come on but wasn’t and Cabaye imo was poor for his 1st 3-4 games when he came back in.

      (Quote)

  45. Personally I hope Simmo stays, yep he’s not the greatest but he’s a decent player who gives his all and actually wants to stay and be prepared to fight for his place if we sign another fullback, that’s what we need if we are to improve as a squad and a team.
Ref Guthrie, as Dave says, he’s a different kettle of fish, he wants to play as first choice and he knows that just isn’t going to happen here so if he leaves, which seems likely good luck to the lad.

      (Quote)

  46. BIG DAVE spot on ie Guthrie leaving , the lad will walk into just about every other teams first 11 . I honestly think he is better than Barry at Citeh , it would not have bothered me if he stayed and we flogged Tiote for Mega money . Not that i am slagging Tiote , he is good .

      (Quote)

  47. Axel on Tiote I like him and know that he is a top class player but when he gets booked early on in a game it takes 50 % of his game away and a 50% chance that we will finish with 10 men, the lad seems to be slow to learn that its football not UFC. Willo is another that doesn’t seem to learn only he thinks he is on dancing on ice or old fashioned grappling.

      (Quote)

  48. @Dave yeah I could see that, he must have been a bit disillusioned by the whole situation. Like most people, would be gutted to see him go, but fully understand. Can understand why Simmo would want to go for footballing reasons as well, though judging by his quotes that doesn’t seem to be the case.

      (Quote)

  49. BIG DAVE it’s a wonder Willo has not give more penalty’s away ,it shows that some ref’s are as blind as a bat . The lad just cuddles his opponents to death . i reckon Pardew would let him leave for any half decent offer .
