Newcastle handed tricky start to season

Can we put on another Sho against Sours?
Newcastle will kick off next season at home to Tottenham Hotspur on 18th of August, followed up one week later by a trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.

The two derby dates can be added to your diary as follows. We take a trip to the village of the damned October 20th with the return match at St James’ Park being played on April 13th.

If you’re after some festive cheer then I’d look elsewhere. Somehow the fixture computer has “randomly” managed to send us to Old Trafford on Boxing Day with a trip to Arsenal penned in three days later. However we are at least back on home home turf for New Years Day when Everton will visit SJP.

In another plus point, we get to finish the season in front of our own fans for a change with Arsenal being the visitors on the final day of the season on May 19th. You can see the full fixture list below.

  1. Not confirmed by the club but they never are, he was quoted as saying he did bid. Was it £6m that inter bid?

  2. Andy ,yeh it was.

Dave ,What did you think of it? I quite like his ideas ,makes a lot of sense to invest more into coaching youth at lower league clubs as we don’t seem to be producing an abundence of home grown talented youngster ,hence our dire England set up .The other option as Ollie says is PL clubs keeping it all to fund mega transfer fees and rediculous wages.

  4. Sidekick I don’t like him but good on him I hope he hits them with another 😆 he seemed to be shouting at someone as the other player kept trying to cover his mouth 😕

  5. Norcal, role the dice man, that would be a fantastic tip.

I think I’m finally going to make a pilgrimage to St. James’ this year if I can sort the finances.

  6. Thing is we might not have as much to worry about when facing Spurs come August. They won’t have Adebeyor, and Bale and Modric will likely be gone, not to mention the team won’t have gelled with the manager yet.

  7. I reckon we’ll get De Jong, Ice. But I think it might mean Ba is gone. Hearing positive things about us signing Debuchy too. Fingers crossed!

  8. You figure de jong and debuchy would cost us 16M or so. That’s not that big a number if we are able to sell Simpson, Forster, and Best. Yes please on both

  9. DAVE i think so too mate, but de-jong has said he would like to go to benfica so lets wait and see 😉

  10. My heart says keep Ba because of the season he had and Cisse. But my head says Ba will go, he has african agents chasing a pay day every transfer window, perhaps they/ he think his knee won’t last many more years and they want to make as much money as quickly as possible. My head also says De Jong is younger and without injuries and non-ACoN and if we could sell Ba and get him for around the same value. It means we have signed a £8M striker for £2m or whatever the Ba signing on fee was. Can’t argue with that as an Ashley business model, which makes it seem like it will happen and this bid is maybe true. Plus Ba has not been the same since switched wide to accomodate Cisse, whereas De Jong is naturally a wide forward player.

  11. Ice thats the thing but LDJ has said he would prefer somewhere else so if that falls through should we take him ?, then when the 1st chance he gets would he up sticks and go to Benfica ❓

  12. DAVE strange items dutch guys ive found, they cannot even get on with each other for gods sake

  13. The De Jong bid will get rejected. They want £12million and we have offered £8million. No brainer really. I do think we will go back in for him though. They may accept £9-9.5million as we are one of few teams who pay in one go.

Also, if we plan to play 4-3-3 next year then De Jong will be an improvement on Ba. Ba is more a traditional striker, whereas DJ can play across a front three.

…We will see what happens, eh?

  14. I tell you what. I bet Barfa is fizzin trying to sign de Jong. He bloody broke his leg ! 😯

  18. Liam you know what normally happens when word gets out of any transfer talk ? We normally pull out and end our interest.

Troy im surprised that Citeh would be willing to let De Jong go to us 😯

  19. Aussie – no comment
Dave – not all cases remember HBA? But your right it is unusual and I am a bit surpised

      (Quote)

  20. Liam ,if this is your guy then I thought his coming in was reliant on another one coming in as well or did I read that wrong?

      (Quote)

  21. Liam yeah HBA jumping on a plane and turning up made it a bit harder to keep quiet, but at that time it was only a loan with a veiw to buy.
    But you never know.

      (Quote)

  22. Kim – yeah thats right but I am less confident now it has come out than before it had! 😥

Yeah de jong apparently wants to see us trying to push on in our signings and get to the next level as champs league teams have been interested in him. Apparently too hes good mates with rosales of twente which could be interesting

The reason was so excited is because he can play in the three pronged attack for definite and as giroud is no longer available could mean ba might stay as de jong was never meant to be his replacement just another option.

Although Ba wont play second fiddle to cisse

  23. Liam, right ,with it now ,makes sense.thanks. 😀

Sky sports news reporting -Toon make bid of £4M for Debuchy which has been rejected by Lille 🙁

  24. @Big Dave
I agree. I would imagine De Jong and Barfa will have to agree to get before any deal was struck. 😯

    @Faussie
Is it lonely in my bucket? 😛
You’re like one of those fish in a pond who has a permanent hole in its bottom lip like a pierced ear. Woo ho hoo hoo 😆
