Newcastle target hoping to sign in “days not weeks”

Debuchy looking for a way out of Lille
Mathieu Debuchy has reiterated his desire to leave Lille and hopes for a conclusion to be reached in “days and not weeks” as he looks to test himself in another league.

However he revealed that Lille are looking for a replacement before letting him go, which is frustrating the 26-year-old France international.

Newcastle and Inter Milan have both been credited with interest in Debuchy, something that he confirms below, and there has even been news of a bit from Newcastle which was rejected by the Lille board. Debuchy though is hoping that Lille are looking for a reasonable fee stating the fact that he is just a defender and probably won’t attract the huge fee that Lille are looking for.

“This is one of my priorities,” he told L’Equipe when asked about interest from Newcastle. “Inter also enquired about me,” he added as he distanced himself from a move to Inter Milan.

“Lille can refuse any insufficient offers. The clubs must reach an agreement. That is not yet the case. Newcastle have already proposed €5 million. I do not know how much the directors of Lille are seeking. I am a defender. An extraordinary offer cannot be expected.”

Debuchy then stated his desire to leave Lille and denied recent reports which suggested that he was willing to sign a contract extension at Stade Lille-Metropole.

“My wish is to leave. I want to experience another league. I recently read that I would have extended my contract until 2016. This upset me. It is not true. I hope that in the coming days, and not weeks, things will settle,” he said.

“I want to leave LOSC. The coach wants to keep me here, but I will not change my mind. I still keep that hope. I will try to go elsewhere.”

He added: “Right now I’m stuck at Lille, depending on the arrival of another player. LOSC want to find my replacement before I am released.”

“Ten, 15 players have been suggested but I am still here, and it disappoints and bothers me. It’s been 20 years that I have been here and I have never asked for anything. For once I want to discover something else.”

Sounds like this particular deal isn’t too far away from happening anyway…

He was well pissed with us in Jan wasnt he? I remember him going on a bout how Ba HAD Failed his medical with stoke and then eventually signed for us whereas he failed his medical with us πŸ˜•

  2. I was just on to see if I could get the star wars collection(all 6 together) for around 25 quid, as we had most of them on tape(old-school but don’t have a casette/tape player) and the other two don’t work any more. Anyhoo was looking on the site and I saw that it would cost me upwards of Β£60 just to get three of them so I said “**** it πŸ˜₯ ” and quit in annoyance.

  3. Andy-Yeah, I mean its pretty clear we pulled that deal so we could land Cisse-can’t blame him or Sochaux getting pissed at us….you can’t really complain now as Cisse is an absolute gem, but we could have gone and bought both….guess we’ll see if we regret it if Fat Sam gets him

  4. Troy at 89 – nice to see your recycling your old posts …. 😳 😳
Still I expect nothing less from someone that has run out of idea’s…
Well at least your post about our lack of attacking options got a few laughs πŸ˜† πŸ˜†
    What a waste of space………………………. you f.cken tosspot πŸ˜•

    Just joking Troy…. honest πŸ˜‰

  5. Newkie….If we’d said Maiga had failed a medical and he hadn’t surely he would have sued?, Marvaux threatened it with Liverpool and they had to come out and say he hadn’t failed…or maybe the medical did pick up a problem as just after that the player himself speaking to L’Equipe said, ” I have now recovered from some physical problems and I now have the chance to play in the first team.
Every player likes to receive offers but in my case the president did not want to sell” which says to me there were some problems. Apart from owt else why would the club need an excuse to pull out and risk a lawsuit? at that stage nowt would have been signed so a simple “We’ve changed our mind” would have done the trick….apart from owt else no matter how well he does he isn’t a patch on Cisse and getting both was never an option.

  6. ST@130…If you’re still struggling just stick to this window, Amalfitano and Bigi were both linked in the papers long before they signed andd if Debuchy signs I believe he’s been mentioned once or twice πŸ˜‰ …..this deals done in secret thing or walk away if it’s made public is a myth I’m afraid.

  7. transfer deals are as simple as buying a house……….. ……in Spain πŸ˜‰

  10. Richie @232 I tend to agree with that ,the days of our secret deals are gone I suspect.
Re ,Carroll ,I read yesterday that Liverpool are mighty pissed at us for making the loan bid public .I think MA did it so as to make the Dippers declare their true intentions regarding AC.It seems to have worked as we now know that they don’t really want him at all and want to sell.More to the point AC now knows where he stands ,it seems to me Pool are in a impossible situation and all the pressure is on them as I can’t see too many clubs willing to part with in excess of Β£13/14m for him. Question is how much of a hit are they willing to take. πŸ˜• I don’t believe as some have said that it’s a PR stunt by Toon as it serves no real purpose other than to divide fans opinions since some will want him back ,others won’t. No ,this is MA way of getting a player back on the cheap imo. πŸ˜‰

  11. Kim..canny avatar πŸ˜‰
Pissing Liverpool off makes it all worth while in itself, regardless of what happens πŸ˜†

  12. Slightly off topic…and slightly bizarre but this is Bayern Munich’s new signing – Mario MandΕΎukiΔ‡
